Eurobasket Slovenia 2013

Is there any interest for this competion here? Tommorow Eurobasket starts. There are some notable absentees. The favorite IMO is France.

Yeah, we are following it because Bosnia-Herzegovina is in it (BiH forum), it's popular in most European countries

Despite of their several NBA players they always flop in these kind of tournaments...Parker's limitations as a true playmaker become obvious with his NT as well.

The favourite is Spain, by quite a distance...even without Pau.

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

I am not sure that Pau is even the biggest absence for Spain. They will miss Navarro even more. France was second in 2011 so they don't always flop. I actually watched their game yesterday in Ljubljana against Israel, Parker didn't even broke a sweat.

Valanciunas starting to play like he should vs Montenegro...finally it seems Lithuania finds him under the basket...he has been criminally underused in his NT career so far.

Italy winning 4 on 4 up to now and the final game with Sweden should be pointless I guess as Sweden won't qualify to the next stage and we start the second stage with 2 wins anyway.

Maybe it's just a wrong feeling but the Italian basket players look like worse pricks than Italian football players.

Some interesting matches must say.

Italy vs Greece was a real treat yesterday. Looking forward to KO stages. Spain remain the favorites but who knows if someone can surprise them.

Turkey the disappointment of the tournament.

Lazio midfield 1999: ** Nedved - Veron - Simeone - Conceicao

Lazio midfield, 13.12.2009: ** Kolarov - Firmani - Del Nero - Lichtsteiner

1. France 2 2/0 159/136 4
2. Serbia 2 2/0 143/127 4
3. Lithuania 2 1/1 123/122 3
4. Ukraine 2 1/1 129/134 3
5. Latvia 2 0/2 130/147 2
6. Belgium 2 0/2 122/140 2

1. Italy 2 2/0 143/116 4
2. Spain 2 1/1 137/118 3
3. Slovenia 2 1/1 152/145 3
4. Finland 2 1/1 130/139 3
5. Croatia 2 1/1 116/142 3
6. Greece 2 0/2 149/167 2

Two new groups now. Greece was the biggest dissapointment of the first round IMO, Spanoulis was injured, but I still expected more. My money is still on France with Spain being the second favorites. Otherwise it is a very close tournament.

The second group is more competitive in terms of qualification, in terms of the first one the top three shouldn't have too many problems

BiH was the best team to not go through, with a record of 3-2.

Spain lost another game yesterday. They are missing their go to scoring options. Slovenia play with a lot of energy, but I doubt we have enough firepower.

Serbia lost to Ukraine yesterday, a game they really should have won. It is true though that they have already qualified for the quarters, so no big deal.

Nah no chance. We have the youngest team, 9 players making their debut for the NT and although we've performed better than expected so far result wise (with ups and downs however) and have the ability to lift our game for the bigger matches, we're not even medal contenders here.

Depending on the draw a semi here would be huge for our boys.

Congrats to Croatia btw.

Sucks we got knocked out, w/Belium and Ukraine in the second round group, we would've had a decent chance at the Quarters.

I knew Italy would lose to Croatia and I bet they will lose the remaining two games as well.

Maybe Croatia can do something this year. They certainly have a lot of talent right now; moreover, Croatia is close to Slovenia so they will have a lot of fans.

Proper respect. Got the prediction. Finally they stun Spain

Glad they didn't choke to Lithuania.

Haha what is up with Serbia lately going with fresh players in both football, basketball, perhaps some other sports. Well, it is not always a bad idea, you get the early losses here and there but after a few years you end up with a team with tremendous experience and familiarity which is sometimes much more important than talent.
