Riggin for Wiggins

The Wiggins sweepstakes are about to begin. Teams already looking to be worse in order to get Wiggins or one of the 8-10 potential all stars in next years draft. It's a franchise changing draft and teams already in the lead for a top pick in the draft.

76ers
Suns
Magic

These three are gonna suck, no doubt. Didn't even make an effort to get better in free agency. I imagine Suns will be looking to move Gortat and Dragic instead.

Fringe contenders:

Celtics
Charlotte
Jazz
Bucks

Celtics are probably not gonna be bad enough if Rondo returns sooner than December and I don't think the Jazz are gonna be bad enough either with guys like Favors, Kanter and Hayward. Charlotte are probably gonna try to win games this season which is exactly the kind of stupidity to expect from a Michael Jordan owned franchise. They would probably pass on Wiggins if they even win the lottery. That's just the kind of stupidity that is expected from Charlotte.

Possible if they get lucky with an injury:

Denver
Portland
Lakers
Raptors

Most of there aren't bad enough to suck and aren't good enough to do anything in the playoffs if they make it. An injury to the likes of Lawson, Kobe, LMA or Rudy and these teams should flatline to potential Wiggins candidates.

sixers defo great candidates for the worst record.Jazz as welll IMO.

I watched jazz more last year, when they were in a fight with lakers for last playoff spot. And seriously All what I saw was heavy reliance on al jefferson. He is bad defensively, but great offensive weapon. This is why I dont think charlotte will be that bad.

but yeah...Al Jefferson was too good to pass up on for them I guess.

and as you said it's not only about Wiggins as there are plenty of other great players out there on the draft of 2014: Parker, Randle, Gordon, Harrison twins, Smart, James Young etc...it's the best year to tank since...?

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? since 2003. The 3 best draft classes I think..

1996 - Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant , Ray Allen etc
1984 - Michael Jordan , Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, John Stockton etc
2003 - Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade , David west etc

There's a chance Blazers might trade LMA this summer...another thing to consider is that their pick belongs to Bobcats but is top 12 protected...so if it's going to be a late lottery/mid 1st round pick they will lose it anyway and therefore I doubt if they'll try to be too good and go for playoffs this year (where they would never survive past the 1st round).

Imagine Wiggins and Cousins on the same team.

2008 was better. But this is a good draft

Actually surprised this year there's so many teams taking the step forward - I thought the tank would be bigger. The last 2 years I think the tanking was on a bigger scale - but I guess we'll see how this one develop into the season.

The hype is always the biggest right as the recruiting process ends, so let's see how this class survives the collage season.

This is the most hyped draft since 2007 when there was a race for Oden and Durant. In retrospect 2008 turned out to be better. But Rose, Westbrook, Love and even Brook Lopez weren't as hyped before the draft.

2007 turned out to be a solid draft with Durant, Horford, Conley and Noah. But lost its shine since injuries wrecked Oden.

Jefferson is a black hole on offense. Once the ball goes to him, it's not coming back to any teammate.

The real strength is the depth and I atleast of what I got to see personally don't see a legit surefire superstar in the Durant/Oden magnitude, but that's again premature talk cause for example just recently 2012 was hyped not as much but pretty big too before the season, and it faded when the collage year began.

All I'm saying is the hype is alright but it's just hype for now, need to see those guys in the collage season to really call this a franchise changing draft.

they say Wiggins is the greatest high school prospect since Lebron and could already succeed as a starting regular in the NBA...

He's not close to the prospect Greg Oden was in highschool. They can say what they want imo.

Brilliant and special athlete, but I haven't seen anything really special of him to set him apart in terms of basketball skill yet other then body control(amazing spinmove+2nd-3rd jump) scorer mentality, and overall athletic ability - If anything there's a few question marks if it's his handle, his shooting form, his passing etc.

What's more is I saw him when he was 16-17(where he was very impressive for his age) and when he was 17-18, and he didn't really seem to improve all that much in his game - that's another and prolly biggest part I'm wary of - cause the only way he can justify his hype is if he's an extremely hard worker.

That's not to say he's not a very good prospect.
He is - and if he's a really hard worker and has that fire burning in him he has all the tools to fulfill the hype eventually, but people seem to take that as a given and it's absolutely not.
My jury is still out on him and maybe I'm wrong - but from what I've seen of him play as far as putting him in the 'surefire can't miss superstar' group of Lebron or Oden as a highschool kid, I would say 'not even close'

Well he was held back a year in middle school. So when he was a sophomore, he was actually a junior. That might explain why he was so dominant in "his age group". He did reclassify later to become a senior. The dirty world of AAU basketball.

Yes that is a trend that pretty much every blue chip prospect does nowadays sadly.

Pretty smart loophole though tbh.

Respected NBA executive of 20-years plus tells me that Chicago's Jahlil Okafor is the most skilled high school center he's ever scouted.

any more info on this guy?

Got to see him recently - Really liked him. He's like a 6'11 Jared Sullinger, or someone like Al Jefferson, DeMarcus Cousins etc.. of that mold.

Very wide body, especially lower body where he's very strong - has great, great footwork and a bag of tricks in the post, good feel for the game and a nice soft touch around the rim and patience in the post.
He's a real low-post player which is refreshing in todays game.

Has some red flags defensively cause he's pretty 'heavy' in his movement(which is surprising cause on offense he moves his feet pretty well for a guy his size), and especially in PNR defense could be a big problem for him.. not very explosive or a vertical player.

Might be hard to judge properly if I'm honest cause he's just so bigger and stronger then anyone - but I think his skills are legit and will translate immediately. he's really a very good post player with an advanced game.
Would automatically be one of the premier offensive bigmen down in the post when he'll come into the league imo.

He still has time to grow too which could really be scary if he can add another inch or two - but right now I'd liken to him someone like Al Jefferson.

Don't waste your time on jealously; sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind.
