NBA Play Offs - 2012

As things currently stand:

EAST:

Chicago, Miami and Orlando have locked the first 3 spots!
Then we have Philly, Atlanta, Indiana, Boston, New York and Milwaukee (6 teams) fighitng for 5 spots. One of the said 6 teams will remain out of PO.

The other tams from the East: Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto, New Jersey, Washington and Charlotte have no chances whatsoever for PO - as Cleveland, the first of the pack trails 9th (Milwaukee) by 4 games already.

WEST:

OKC, Spurs and the Lakers locked the first 3 spots!
But unlike in the East, here we have much more teams with genuine Play Off chances and things are much more unpredictable.
As things currently stand, LA Clippers and Dallas have good chances to make PO!

Memphis, Houston, Utah, Denver, Phoenix, Minnesota and Portland will fight for remaining 3 PO spots (if we take for granted that Clipps and Mavs will make it)

The situation in the Western conference is much more interesting and the said teams will fight for each win!

Let`s see what happens and we will monitor their chances as days go by!

Lazio midfield 1999: ** Nedved - Veron - Simeone - Conceicao

Lazio midfield, 13.12.2009: ** Kolarov - Firmani - Del Nero - Lichtsteiner

At least for a whole decade the West is the far more interesting and competitive conference.

If teams like Indiana and Orlando had better point guards, they could surely start competing with their Eastern rivals. Some teams however like Atlanta have dumb coaching and management, so they keep running in circles. Milwaukee has been unlucky with injuries so they always fall shy of that 8th spot; maybe next year things will look better with Bogut out.

New York should be ready by next year. They have all the right ingredients. In fact they're more of a complete team than either Chicago or Miami. They just need a coach and they're good to go.

I think it might be more than a coach that NY needs. With the talent available, they should be doing much better in a weak East. Melo, Amare, Chandler, JR Smith, Fields, Shumpert, Lin, B.Davis, etc.

Problem with some of these guys (mainly Melo and Amare) is that it seems they don't really care anymore. Almost like all the money and glamor from NY is enough for them. I could be wrong, but if I were the Knicks, I'd consider trying to get one of Van Gundy, Sloan or Jackson out of retirement.

Van Gundy is not a good coach TBH.

But Sloan would definitely straighten things out. He should be #1 on their list.

Phil Jackson isn't really a good coach either. He's more of a disciplinarian and a good manager, if they lack discipline, then yes, he will straighten them out. But if it's more about actual coaching (how to play basketball), then they require Sloan who will excel in that department.

I once had an imagination of Phil Jackson coaching the Knicks. And the first thing I noticed was Jackson going off on Lin lol. For some reason he always has beef with the foreign guys. The funny thing is Lin is a first generation Asian American, but he would be the first to get picked on for the obvious, he's Asian and also he's been struggling recently.

I wouldn`t want the Mavs to meet the Lakers in the first round!

They MUST finish on the 4th/5th spot and meet Clipps instead - not that they would pass by them 100% though.

not a surprise boston celtics are leading there division now.I am ready to bet by playoff time, that boston will reach the conference finals ...

I am fearing them more then chicago, they are old team. But if you are to choose a team to win a game made of 5 minutes besides miami...it would be boston..bad thing for them is a game is made of 48 mins.

In the mean time, Orlando has lost it`s third spot in the East and moved 5th after Indiana and Boston!

Phily, New York and Milwaukee are batteling hard for 2 last spot for the PO.

WEST

If they continue like this till the end, San Antonio will probably finish 1st in the WEST thus overtaking OKC.

The battle for the last 2 spots taking to PO continues to be hot between Houston, Denver, Utah, Phoenix and MAYBE Portland.

Minessota are out. They miss Rubio, and now Ridnour! They are OUT for this year.

If the NBA Play-Offs were to begin today, these would be the seedings and matchups ---

EAST

1) Chicago Bulls ----- 8) Philadelphia 76ers
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
4) Boston Celtics ----- 5) Atlanta Hawks

2) Miami Heat ----- 7) New York Knicks
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
3) Indiana Pacers ----- 6) Orlando Magic

From the East, we would have the normal and expected top two, in my opinion, with the Bulls and the Heat. Since the season began until now, it looks like the Philadelphia 76ers along with the Orlando Magic have slipped up a bit. And the Knicks are still in the top eight despite having Jeremy Lin injured and Amar'e Stoudemire out. The only team outside of the top eight that have a real shot to make the Play-Offs (and I am rooting for them for a specific player), are the Milwakee Bucks, mainly because of Monta Ellis.

WEST

1) San Antonio Spurs ----- 8) Denver Nuggets
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
4) LA Clippers ----- 5) Memphis Grizzlies

2) Oklahoma City Thunder ----- 7) Dallas Mavericks
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
3) LA Lakers ----- 6) Houston Rockets

Some interesting teams in the spots this year. Houston has exceeded my expectations from before the season, where now they are in sixth place. I wish the Clippers and the Lakers fall in the fourth and fifth place spots before the end of the season. A play-off series would be intense. And it would be interesting to see who the fans root for (if it happens, I am rooting for the Clippers because the Lakers suck p). San Antonio has surprised, like they do every year. They are on a 11 game winning streak, very impressive. Dallas is doing terrible this year, for being a reigning champion. Although, losing players like Tyson Chandler has definitely hurt them. The Thunder, I think, will fall out and get eliminated in the second round of the Play-Offs, due to inexperience.

Overall, I think Miami takes the title against San Antonio in the Final. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh have everything to prove as a team and badly want it this year - especially after being so close last year and then getting eliminated. Oh, and I hope there are no 4-0 sweeps in these upcoming Play-Offs in 2012, or at least not as many as there were last year. Terrible watching that, and it better not happen again.

I agree with you man. I hope Milwaukee gets that 8th spot. They deserve it more than this shitty Philadelphia side. This team is just low IQ basketball, they rely solely on athleticism and in the dying minutes when they should be getting the wins, they make some retarded mistake like shoot the ball when they have 17 seconds to kill time, step outside, bad pass, turnovers etc.

Milwaukee on the other hand have an amazing coach in Scott Skiles and the team plays attractive basketball. I like a lot of their players, they are deserving of the playoffs.

The playoffs this year compared to last year IMHO will have sicker brackets. I don't know if the finish will be as unpredictable as last year's, but the bracket match-ups look very well even or at least close for some of these teams. So I don't expect any sweeps or blow outs. You can expect some 6 gamers.

EAST

It appears everything is set - Philly will take the last spot from the Bucks (unfortunately as I wanted the latter team to make the PO`s this year).

WEST

Crazy race between Phoenix, Houston and Denver for the last spot. Amazing.

Houston lost 5 in a row at a critical stage and I really doubt if they deserve to be in the PO with such a terrible record.

Ok, did that. I enlisted 5 teams with more realistic chances of winning it all!
Miami, Chicao, OCK, Lakers and Spurs! I don`t think there is any other team with serious chances of winning it!

BTW: I voted for BULLS.
