I think it becomes apparent that GRRM initially intended a five year gap in the story between book three and four. Some of the storylines are painfully slow and just come across as filler. And as far as I've been able to tell from interviews GRRM himself doesn't have the story plotted out, he just knows approximately how he wants to end his story but isn't quite sure how he'll get his characters there. Which might be an explanation as to why it's taking him so long to write the books.

One thing that would probably be better if GRRM had a bigger influence on the show would be that we wouldn't have to suffer through the Disney-esque Rock'n'Roll Pirate Euron playing a huge role in the end game. From what I remember the Euron character in the books was more interesting and wouldn't feel as out of place as the cartoon version in the show.

About Sam, the fact that he survived the battle of Winterfell is one of the most unlikely facts of the episode. It is true that no one had to survive, given the exaggerate superiority in numbers of the wights, but while we can accept that people who can defend themselves might survive (and kill thousands in the meanwhile... lol, well, ok!), a person who can't defend himself and yet is in the battle should not survive. Similarly, it is not clear where was hidden the Onion Knight, if you think to all the sequences about Arya/the Hound/Beric escaping the zom... wights.
Arya surviving the Night King is even more absurd. The mountain is a toddler in comparison with his super-human strength, but maybe he somehow decided to be delicate with her throat... Smh!

I'm not kidding here, and I've said it before, if you look deep down in your soul you'll realize that Romanians are master race.

I don't think that's a bad thing. Most of the great novels are so because the character development is not predetermined. It should be like a strategy game where the writer goes with the tide, much like Dostoevsky's novels.

yep, that one is the undisputed worst moment of the episode as it is simply doesn't make sense. I imagine the last thought of the NK before being destroyed "fuuuuuuck! I'm stupid!"

It's bad if he's written himself into a corner and he doesn't know how to get himself out of there. If he's got loose ends all over the place with dozens of characters and he doesn't know how to tie them all back together to create a pre-determined ending I'm not sure it's such a good thing. As the steadily decreasing productivity seems to suggest it doesn't exactly seem to be a miracle cure for creativity. But then again it might just be that he's gotten bored of the project and finds his other projects more satisfying.

She did learn a thing or two from the Many Faced God. And all this time I thought she was just another Lolita in Braavos. The library scene gave you a reminder of her sneaking skills. She sneaked to the tree area and dick slapped Mr. Night King. But what if it was GRRM idea of Arya killing the Night King?

Anyway now D&D can go and ruin(or fix) Star Wars or whatever is left of it.

In episode 1 she sneaked on Jon at the exact same location and he asked how she did that.

I'm gonna remain a skeptic about that until the next book comes out. Honestly, the only POV which remotely bored me was Davos.

Originally GRRM planned it as a triology with a 5 year gap between book 2 and 3. But as he wrote the story got out of hand and he changed it around.

The show has been awful since Season 5. Honestly they should have found a way to connect the white walkers storyline to King Landing (maybe through that strange ****er qyburn) but instead we get some straightforward boring shit.

very generic good vs evil plot for the last season, with one last twist that I heard about but really don't give a shit for - because the story up to this point has been so weak.

This episode might have been even dumber than the last one. Everything seems extremely rushed. I don't have much of an issue with the "teleporting", as I don't want to watch episode after episode of travel diaries. But they should try to add some scenes in between to explain the passing of time and the logic of certain events.

Not surprisingly Dastardly Euron was the worst character. That whole "ambush" scene just felt lazy and stupid. We need reasonable ballista control legislation, automatic assault ballistas should be banned IMHO.

The final negotiation scene was the most moronic of all though. Why didn't Cersei just open fire and wipe out her enemies then and there? The last dragon and the Mad Queen were sitting ducks out there.

anyway, to kill cersei, you have to pass the mountain, so i guess that his brother will be here along with arya. i hope that arya will not make the job as usual.

Jaime will be around, but they did screw him and Brienne with that ridiculous scene/dialogue. Not that I do think Brienne will stay home (Sansa will tell her to go, after all she has to defend Arya and since teleportation happens, she will be there in no time). Had them did the scene correctly, instead of trying to not give any clues if Jaime will kill or defend Cersei, they would just have him telling Brienne Cersei is pregnant. That would make sense in the "honor bound" mind of both. Then he would get his sword, run to Cersei and Arya would jump from behind the tree, Cersei will hold her by the neck, Arya will flip the knife to the other hand and stab Cersei to death. But no, probally some cliche like him dying with Cersei and sending a mesage to a now pregnant Brienne, with him killing Daenerys, so Jon can be the king and reveal that he have been always a cat person, not a dog person.

They ruined her... She snapped out of the blue, and went for innocents instead of going straight to Cersei.
