Hajduk Split 2019/20

Preparations for the new season begun today with the first training session at Poljud. 24 players participated with 4 more players arriving in a few days along with some youth players

- Goran Blazevic, Tomislav Duka, Marin Ljubic, Davor Matijas; Borja Lopez, Bozo Mikulic, Oleksandr Svatok, Josip Juranovic, Josip Basic, Mario Vuskovic, Stipe Radic, Lummbardh Dellova; Darko Nejasmic, Ante Palaversa, Dino Besirovic, Anthony Kalik, Stanko Juric, Tonio Teklic, Bassel Jradi, Emir Sahiti; Adam Gyurcso, Ivan Delic, Francesco Tahiraj, Dario Spikic

The players arriving later this week are Stipe Vucur, Michele Sego, Jairo and Hamza Barry. Players on extended break have international duty: Mijo Caktas (Croatia), Domagoj Bradaric (Croatia U21), Josip Posavec (Croatia U21), Ardian Ismajli (Albania)

The players will train in Split until June 22 then they go to their traditional summer camp in Slovenia. The team will know their first Euro opponents on June 19 with those games taking place the following month in mid-July. Once again due to Ultra, Hajduk will have to play their home game in Dugopolje. Hajduk are seeded in the first two rounds but beyond unseeded. Hajduk's league season will likely start July 21, after the 1st Round qualifying. The only pre-season friendly schedule so far is Solin on June 21 but they will play 4 games in Slovenia

In transfer news: Hajduk managed to permanently sign Josip Posavec from Palermo for about 600K + 20% future transfer fee, Palaversa will remain with Hajduk for one more season on loan from Man City. Three players were allowed to leave on a free: Fran Tudor, Mirko Ivanovski and Andre Fomitschow, with Tudor being a key loss for no fee.

Hajduk have been linked with Darijo Srna, Stipe Perica and Filip Krovinovic. Srna is a free agent after his first season in Serie A but a right back isn't really needed at the moment and he does have other interest. Perica will be very tough to bring in despite Tudor being manager of Udinese. Benfica are probably going to loan out Krovinovic but its likely he stays in Portugal. In terms of departures Bradaric is still being linked with Lille, a good U21 Euro (where he should start but I have a feeling Sosa will get the nod ) will increase his value

Fixtures came out, easy start on paper but once again they will play Osijek-Dinamo-Rijeka on three straight matchdays four times during the season. They will open at home to Istra, the first match with Dinamo will be the 7th round in Poljud

1. Istra (H)
2. Varazdin (A)
3. Lokomotiva (H)
4. Slaven (A)
5. Gorica (H)
6. Osijek (A)
7. Dinamo (H)
8. Rijeka (A)
9. Inter (H)

They play these teams four times in the same order, interchanging home and away fixtures

Hajduk will play one of the following in the first round of EL qualifiers: Flora Tallinn (EST), Torpedo Kutaisi (GEO), OFK Titograd (MNE), Gzira (MLT), winners of St. Julia/Europa tie

Nothing too complicated on paper, the Georgians are probably the only competent ones as they won the Georgian league in recent years while “Titograd” will probably involve some fan troubles but is ideal in terms of travel

Hajduk know their first two Euro opponents (barring a disaster in the 1st round): They will play Maltese side Gzira United in the first round and the winners of Ventpils/Teuta in the 2nd round, both rounds the return leg will be at home. Nothing too complicated with a professional performance.

The full pre-season schedule is out, the match against Solin will be at their ground to celebrate their 100th anniversary while the remaining fixtures will be in Slovenia

June 21: Solin
June 29: Krylya Sovetov
June 30: Aluminij
July 3: Slask Wroclaw
July 4: Zorya Luhansk

Still no real news on the transfer front but one strong link if left back David Colina, Croatian youth international, currently at Monaco. If the transfer happens then fully expect Bradaric to be sold. Hajduk are linked with another left back in Markus Pavic from Istra who seems to be the backup option to Colina

Palaversa is currently in Manchester and Man City are still deciding on his future. Initially he was supposed to stay one more season on loan at Hajduk but he might go to their feeder club in Spain, Girona

Hajduk was also linked with Brazilian striker William, who looks 40 in his transfermarkt picture, but he is likely headed to Saudi Arabia instead

Not even July and already a sideshow going on as the director of youth football has been fired with immediate effect after he claimed that Hajduk sporting director (Sasa Bjelanovic) order him to have Hajduk II lose to Sibenik in a 2.HNL match in order to help them gain promotion (Hajduk II wound up winning the match). Bjelanovic completely denies this of course and Gojun is out, probably a lawsuit down the line. Whole story is weird anyway as Hajduk and Sibenik don't really have that great of a relationship in the last few years

After years of being linked with him, Hajduk sign Stefan Simic from AC Milan, looks like a loan signing. He was born in Czech Republic but to Croatian parents and has represented the Czechs at youth level. He was once considered a big prospect but hasn't developed and didn't play much at Frosinone last season on loan

David Colina signs from Monaco, four year contract but with a fee reportedly about 700K. He is a Croatia U19 international and was a former Dinamo youth player before going to Monaco. He will replace Bradaric who is heading to Lille

Hajduk already out of Europe in mid-July, losing to freakin Gzira at home, last minute goal eliminating them. This tops Shelbourne, Debrecen easily. Will be an interesting next few weeks in terms of the circus, NH is under more pressure than ever now too. Almost 20K too witnessed this which will probably be the combined attendance for the first few weeks in the HNL combined with clubs outside of Hajduk, too loyal for their own good

Not to troll anyone but those games against Debrecen were pretty badass. Those were the days!

Without Jesus, a hopeless end. With him, an endless hope.

They seemed to treat the game like some preseason warmup. Where was Catkas, Juric, Juranovic? Really do they think they’re such big club they can throw anyone or there and win? They’re a level above minnow in many ways and they should treat the opponent with some respect.

Yeah? What did Juranovic do at the third Maltese goal exactly? I would get stabbed in the balls and thrown to the pigs at my Hungarian division 6 team if I defended like that!

Orescanin sacked today which is no surprise but in a continuous cycle the manager linked is Damir Buric who they probably should have never fired in the first place a few years back. Outside of the obvious embarrassment in losing to a side from Malta the club was upset at how he handled the match resting many players. As of now Brbic is staying but he says if Hajduk don't finish 2nd in the HNL (this season 2 place = CL qualifying) he will step down.

I just assumed Hajduk were going to have another 3-0, 2-1 type win and progress. WTF happened on the pitch?

Još Hrvatska ni propala dok mi živimo,

ak je sada u snu mala, će se prostranit.
