A Romanian drama: The clubs massacre

This is a thread about a widespread institutional genocide

A bit about Timisoara (Poli Timisoara was the team that most fans used to attract to the stadium some years ago)

18 of 31 Romanian teams participating in European cups don't exist anymore (article from 2014, the number surely increased)
18 din cele 31 de echipe care au reprezentat România în cupele europene nu mai exist?. Cu Univ. Craiova, FC Arge?, Poli Timi?oara ?i UTA a murit ?i o parte din interesul pentru fotbal | @ProSport

But then the fans are asked and they come with stupid answers like this...

According to them fans don't go to stadiums because of the low level of the league Apparently 15 or 20 years ago Ronaldinho and Zidane played in Liga I and that's why the stadiums were [basically] full...

How can be people this stupid? A group of crooks are destroying their teams and they can't even see it...

Fans and supporters go to the stadium when they know and feel that's THEIR TEAM, the team they have been supporting all their life. If you take out their feeling of identity or belonging, they don't go to the stadium. I think it's quite simple and easy to understand.

The 'killing' of traditional teams is damaging Romanian football from all points of view...but nobody does nothing to solve it.

Little by little we can see how is the situation in different clubs...

Rapid:
Quote:
In December 2012, funding problems became serious and the club entered insolvency. This led to 16 players leaving the club, along with the president Constantin Zotta, during the winter break. Many youth players were brought in from the third league satellite team Rapid II. In 2013, Copos sold the club to another businessman, Adrian Zamfir. In July 2014, Rapid changed again its owner, Valerii Moraru buying the club from Zamfir.

Rapid won the promotion play-offs in 2015–16 Liga II but the club was declared bankrupt in June 2016 and was denied promotion to Liga I. The club now plays in the 5th Romanian football league as AFC Rapid București.

Otelul:
Quote:
The club was dissolved in 2016.

After the dissolution of the club, Oțelul supporters founded a new association, Suporter Club Oțelul Galați, and try the registration of the new club in the Liga IV.

On 19 July 2016 ASC Oțelul Galați was officially born with the objective of continuing the tradition of Oțelul and the tradition of the football from Galați.

Arges:
Quote:
After the team dissolved in 2013, its fans founded a new supporter owned phoenix club called F.C. Argeș 1953. This team competes currently in the third division.

Vaslui:
Quote:
In 2014 Vaslui was relegated from Liga I to Liga II by the FRF because they didn't get a license. In July 2014, and due to debts and serious financial problems, the club refused to play in Liga II and was dissolved. The supporters association of the club refounded the team in the fourth division, where they play currently as FC Vaslui 2002.

Jiul Petrosani:
Did you think the team of the Miners dissappeared? No, they are still alive. But they have been doing so badly on the field that they are currently in Liga IV.

Gloria Bistrita:
Quote:
On 25 July 2014, Gloria was relegated to Liga III, due to many financial problems, and changed its name from ACF Gloria 1922 Bistrița to Gloria Progresul Bistrița.

On 3 August 2015, the club was relegated to Liga V, due to many financial problems, and changed its name from Gloria Progresul Bistrița to AF Gloria Bistrița. In the 2015-16 season they promoted to Liga IV.

So to the question 'why fans don't go to the stadiums?' I'd answer with: they are busy refounding their clubs.

Brilliant. You are spot on. That´s why Astra or Urziceni didn´t bring fans. there is no tradition and therefore no one cares even when they do well. Viitorul is another example. They are slowly creating some fanbase after 7 years of existence, but it takes time

Supporter´s clubs are the only way out, because everything else ("Justice", owners, FRF, LPF, politicians, even the army) conspires for the ending of romanian football. Someone can come, ivest nothing, steal everything from a club and leave without consequences
It´s a massive suicide and the level of incompetence it´s beyond belief

You guys caught the same disease as us. What's been consistently happening in Bulgaria since the beginning of the 1990's is the Balkan modality of a pervert "franchise". Big football brands from the past have been "privatized", ergo stolen by nouveaux-riches by legal tricks, and of course with the generous laissez-faire (corrupt or unconscious inaction) of our football union. Some football brands in Bulgaria changed hands several times so far.

There are also new brands which will hardly ever get a critical minimum fan base, able to help them survive future hard times (lack of money or their rich owners abandoning them).

What our football (and yours' I guess) needs now is stricter application of new clubs' admission rules by the league administering authority, thus stabilizing the traditional brands. Even if the process is going to take time it needs to be started.

About Petrolul...

Quote:

And also stricter rules to investors. There have been cases (the ones we know of) of them getting rich with the club earnings and leaving them bankrupt (Otelul, Massone with Ceahlaul, Urziceni). It seems like there is no control at all

Bucsaru (Urziceni) had a huge debt to Jiji, that's apparently why the team folded.

Yes, I remember. In his case he wasn`t "rich" but still used what the club earned for his benefit and left the team to dissapear. The LPF should have a rule where the investor must reinvest at least a percentage of what the club earns, or something

I have a lot of faith in these clubs. They won´t have a dictator owner or a guy that can run with all the money overnight. They have comitees where different parts (fans, club legends, managers, sponsors) are represented, so at least in theory they should work for the benefit of the club
