U-20 WC DRAW TODAY! Jordan are the only Arabs in it!

FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007
Canada 2007 takes shape

(FIFA.com) 02 Mar 2007

The 24 teams talented, determined and lucky enough to have reached the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 - the 16th instalment of the biennial youth competition - will have their attentions turned squarely and intently toward Toronto on Saturday 3 March. It is there and then, after all, that the identity of their first round opponents will be revealed.
Head coaches, dignitaries and footballing celebrities of all stripes will be on hand at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex to see which names come out of which bowls as this summer's highly anticipated competition takes shape.

Will mighty Brazil meet the hosts in a clash of cultures and pride? Will the two Koreas meet in a test of wills? All will be revealed and anything is possible. You can follow the draw live on FIFA.com at 16:30 EST (22:30 CET) on Saturday.

For Canada - traditionally and mistakenly referred to as a non-football nation - it is the opportunity to host their third official FIFA world championship. After putting on the FIFA U-17 World Cup back in 1987, the crowds came out in force to cheer the inaugural instalment of the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in 2002 (now known as the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup). Attendances broke records and, with tickets being snapped up at a rapid rate for this summer's festivities, the Canucks are expected to be out in force once again to lend credence to the tournament's unofficial slogan, "It's gonna be huge!"

With 24 teams from every corner of planet football, the competition is the second-largest in the FIFA stable. Only the senior FIFA World Cup, with 32 competing nations, is a larger event. Certainly, as the stars of tomorrow line up in Canada, the hosts are sparing no expense or effort in making sure that the party is worthy of its distinguished guests.

No less than six venues are being used, spanning over 3000 miles of land from Vancouver Island and picturesque Victoria in the West to Montreal in the East. Toronto's brand new state-of-the-art National Soccer Stadium at Exhibition Place (the venue for 12 matches including the final) will also be unveiled before it becomes home to Major League Soccer's first-ever Canadian club - Toronto FC - at the start of next season.

The Draw will be broadcast in Canada live on CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation) TV, and our global users can follow the all the action in real-time on FIFA.com at 16:30 EST on Saturday. Interviews with coaches and responses to the draw results will also be available shortly after the names are drawn, as will an updated match schedule for the competition which will run from 30 June to 22 July 2007.

FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007
Drama aplenty at Canada draw
(FIFA.com) 03 Mar 2007

The Final Draw for the 24-team FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 held in Toronto on 3 March 2007 threw up a hatful of fascinating encounters in all six groups. The biennial world youth showpiece - the second largest FIFA competition - will be staged between 30 June and 22 July in six venues across Canada.

FIFA Director of Competitions Jim Brown was joined on stage by MC, former Canadian Gold Cup winner and West Ham keeper Craig Forrest, Canadian women's ace Christine Sinclair, cyclist Curt Harnett and former Olympic Gold medallists Donovan Bailey and Marnie McBean.

The impressive panel managed to pull a mouth-watering series of clashes out of the pots, including hosts Canada facing Chile in Toronto, USA meeting up with Brazil in Ottawa, favourites Spain facing Uruguay in Burnaby, while Portugal will battle it out with Mexico in a Group C clash in Toronto.

Pretty hard group for Jordan if you ask me. I do not think they will pull a shocker out of their hats but will be a good experience alongside the preparations too.

I do not think the other teams will have it that easy against us. A loss with 2-3 goals difference would be OK.

Jordan U-20 team just finished a long ass camp in Turkey and Portugal where they played an international tournament against Portugal, Japan and not sure of the other teams name but it goes like Gree Head won against Japan 1-0(Loai Imran) and 2-1 against the other team 2-1(Abdallah Deesi and Ahmed Nofal) lost to Portugal 3-0. They also played 4 games in Turkey against 2 Turkish first team, Norwayan and Russian teams. Lost 2 and won 2.
