18th Gulf Cup

In this thread I'll keep on posting the latest news, results, goals and highlights of the 18th Gulf Cup which is held in UAE.

This cup is very important for the participating countries, as there is no country who considers this a friendly tournament. Its the "world cup" of the gulf.

Last year we saw a magical oman team reach the final playing one of the best football displays that we've seen from the gulf.

Damn, UAE have never won it

Forza UAE!!!!!!!!!!

Don't lament the treachery of time;
long have dogs danced over the carcasses of lions.

Don't suppose that their dancing raises them above their masters;
for dogs remain dogs, and lions remain lions.

Insult me as you wish;
For my silence to the depraved is a response.

It's not that I have no response, but;
A lion does not reply to a dog.

The last gulf cup was really a joy to watch unlike the one before. This one will be good too, hopefully a team will put up the same displays as Oman's of Qatar.

Vamos Argentina!

Mate we're still in the tournament with the exact same players and coach so you don't need to worry about that. p

lol

Come on dude, 3aady - it's good competitive practice for the region.

I always wished they could have a serious tournament that includes all the senior Arab countries against each other. The Gulf Cup is the closest thing to that (ma b3aber Arab games coz they're not taken seriously)

Definitely agree with Pooh, last year's edition in Qatar was very exciting.

I'm 100% behind the Emirates to win it. Would be a great boost to this football-mad country

Your wish will soon come true with the Arab Cup scheduled for 2009 I believe and should have all the Arab countries WITH all their starters (and not B teams as is sometimes the case).
