Brazil To Play Lebanon Friendly
Brazil are set to play an exhibition match in Lebanon in October in order to help the war-damaged nation get back on its feet.
The five-time World Champions have penciled in a date of October 10 for the Beirut clash after their date in Kuwait scheduled for October 7.
Earlier in the week, the President of the South American nation Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called upon the team to head to Lebanon.
"The national team goes to Kuwait, why can't we play a game in Lebanon for peace?" Silva said.
"Lebanon needs help from the Brazilian national team. Who says that the national team cannot play a game to symbolise peace?"
The Brazilian ambassador to the Middle-Eastern nation subsequently contacted the Lebanese FA to asked for a formal request.
Aside from the prospect of the Lebanon NT getting creamed...
...I think the fans would enjoy it, regardless of the result.
The Brazil fanbase in Lebanon is enormous. Plus the fact that we have millions of Lebanese expats in Brazil alone [S. America I believe holds the largest number of Leb Expats]
As for Kuwait, like the rest of the Gulf, a footie mad country. I think they'll have a much better turn out for their match vs. Brazil compared to the disappointing turn-out in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
