Moggi-esque scandal unfolding in the UAE league...

According to Al Sharqah Club's official website, 5 of their players (the goalie, as well as four defenders) were offered a bribe from an ex-Wehda player on the eve of their last league game of the season, against league leaders Al Wehda, who needed a win to clinch the domestic title.

So the five players acted as if they're willing to accept the bribe (500,000 Dirham, meaning 100,000 to each Sharqah player) and agreed on a meeting place in a cafe. In which the Wehda ex-player was busted by local police authorities. In short - a setup.

Apparently, the whole thing is on video. :eekani:

What is with Arabic clubs and the 007 style!

Wihdat, Jordanian club, have also revealed a bribe to their goalie and they taped it on vedio!

And who is behind that bribe ?

I thought Wehdat weren't even involved in the title race this season, or am I mistaken ?

No they are not. Shabab El-Ordon and Faisaly are.

The bribe was from a relegated team(Shabab El-Hussain) for the goalie to let them score and win the game. They lost the game 4-0 and the JFF relegated them to the second division and they lost their players and reputation!

The bribe was 500JD=705USD. :dielaugh:

Vamos Argentina!

We had a similar scandal in Lebanon. There was no need to video tape anything because the 10-0 and 6-0 scorelines, and Haytham Zein's double hat-tricks spoke for themselves!

Don't lament the treachery of time;
long have dogs danced over the carcasses of lions.

Don't suppose that their dancing raises them above their masters;
for dogs remain dogs, and lions remain lions.

Insult me as you wish;
For my silence to the depraved is a response.

It's not that I have no response, but;
A lion does not reply to a dog.

10-0 , amateurs...

Watched "el Ryada Qadeya" on aljazeera sports today and they covered the whole corruption in football saga. Most of the callers were disgruntled Inter fans from gulf nations who asked the Gazzetta guest journalist wether the infamous 1998 game was part of the ongoing investigation or not. hehe.

Wehdat's chairman seems to be a media whore from what I saw and heard. We have a certain Mortada Mansour here in Egypt who is quite similar...

Wihdat chairman is a die hard member in a Palestinian group that hates every Islamic or religious organization on the earth since they are still faithful to the old Soviet Union. Shabab El-Hussain are on the other side, sheikhs He found it a great opportunity to hit them in the balls and he did that very well! The fans are really gnashing their teeth with the club and they are supporting Shabab El-Husain to death at the moment.

Vamos Argentina!

I used to live in UAE and this is really a funny story I have read about this before some time.

Sharjah players did the right thing the culprit player must be punished.
