Yasser Hussain?

from http://www.mcfc.co.uk/article.asp?ar...ok+at+trialist

Stuart Pearce has brought in a trialist from Qatar to join in pre-season training.
Yasser Hussein who is an attacking midfielder joined his first City training session on Thursday.

The twenty three year old has arrived on the recommendation of former Blues skipper, Ali Benarbia.

The mercurial midfielder who helped mastermind the Blues return to the top flight under Kevin Keegan contacted Stuart Pearce who has moved quickly to bring in the midfielder.

"Yasser Hussein is coming in on Thursday on the recommendation of Ali Benarbia," explained the City chief.

"Ali was a player himself so hopefully he will know what he is like!

"Yasser is from Qatar where he has been playing his football. He is a wide sided midfielder who can play on either flank. He is a Bosman at present so he fits the criteria."

Is he any good? Can you tell me about him? Goals record, assists, potential, ability, past clubs?

Well... I'm not one to really judge him because I have only watched him during the last Gulf cup, meaning I saw him play from 5 games or so..

But anyway, during the tournament, he was a class above the rest but that's hardly impressive considering the level of football in here and I have doubts about him succeeding in Europe, especially in a strong league like the EPL.

From what I've seen of him(which ain't much really) I can gather that he's fast and has good dribbling skills.

Oh and if I'm not mistaken, he played in Turkey last season... the 'reports' that were circulating around were that he was owned by an EPL club and that he was loaned out to Turkey, not sure of how accurate those reports are/were..

I'll look around for clips of him, if I find any, I'll post them here.. Hopefully the other guys in here will provide you with more useful info.

Oh and it's Hussain Yasser btw.

Ok. Thanks very much. Sounds alright. Surely he'll be good as a bit part player? Hes only a bosman anyway, what have we got to lose?

I think you're mixing him up with Abdulrahman Hussain...

I just noticed his full name is Yasser Abdulrahman Hussain.
Hussain was signed by Man Utd who loaned him out to us. (Royal Antwerp FC). He played for Antwerp for about 1 season, afterwards Man Utd sold him to AEL Limassol in Cyprus. There he also played for 1 season.

Currently I believe he's back in Qatar.

I've seen him play lots of times.
He made a great start for us. He was fast, technically gifted and had a great dribble. But afterwards he completely fell back. We was constantly on his way with the Qatari NT and when he came back he always seemed to be exhausted or just not motivated.

His biggest problem is his lack of height and strenght. He's barely 1.65m (dont know how much that is in English measurements though) and is as thin as a twig. Also his mentality isn't all that.

Like MoMo said I have my doubts if he's really made for the EPL since even the belgian defenders had to only whistle at him before he fell down.
Nevertheless if he'll be able to compensate his lack of physical strenght with his excellent technique and a lot of hard work he'll might be able to make it. I guesse we'll have to wait and see.

reports of the 2 matches hes played so far are positive, saying hes been lively for us, which is excellent. he scored in the 2nd game, and would have had several assists but for poor finishing. i hope we sign him

Me too. Its nice to see some Arabian footballers given a chance in the EPL. after Benarbia, Belmadi and Kerkar, City can be said to be doing a lot for tha arabian game in England. Also theres Al-Habsi at Bolton, so theres a few coming over now!

Haha I did indeed. Maybe I just find it hard to believe hes been at a club more than 6 months?

Anyway, Yasser has a 6 month contract having been granted a work permit. Good.

No. His contract has either ran out, or only has a few weeks left, but he will definitely be leaving. He won't be missed either...
