Scotland - Canada Result

I'm starting a new thread for comments about the game and scoring, etc. Please post all game comments and scores in this thread.

Many Canadians will not see this game until several hours after it's played, so let's not spoil it for them.

Well, I skivved off work to see the game live, and wouldn't you know it, Rogers Cable goes off the air 20 minutes in! :fero:

They better get it fixed before the replay, which is at 8 p.m. Eastern.

After all the money I pour into their coffers....

Cable service restored right after the game ended!

Final score was 3-1 for Scotland. Big defensive lapses on Canada's part, apparently.

Very disappointing result.

"START PLAYING TEAMS THAT WE HAVEN"T HEARD ABOUT"

or

International Friendly Report: Scotland Come From Behind To Beat Canada
Scotland - Canada | Latest News | News Archive

A first home win for Scotland boss Berti Vogts (Allsport)
10/15/2002. After a miserable 2002 so far, Scotland have finally clicked into gear after coming from behind to beat Canada in a friendly at Easter Road ?just three days after winning for the first time under new boss Berti Vogts, against Iceland.

The match began in explosive fashion with both sides scoring early, although it was a surprise to see the Canadians take the lead.

Scotland's inept failure to clear a free kick cost them dear as Duane De Rosario was fouled in the area by Russell Anderson and then picked himself up to dispatch the penalty well.

The lead lasted two minutes before Dunfermline striker Stephen Crawford equalised, drilling his shot under keeper Lars Hirschfeld, having been sent clear on goal by Scot Gemmill.

Just five minutes after half time, Scotland took the lead for the first time after the visitors failed to clear following good work from Paul Devlin, allowed Stephen Thompson to find the corner well. It was relief for the Dundee United man who had earlier send a clear header wide of the post.

The result was put beyond doubt when Crawford added his second and the Scots third. Devlin's deep cross was helped back by Thompson and althought Hirschfeld got a touch on it, it fell for Crawford who swept home from close range.

Whilst Iceland and Canada may not be earth-shattering victories, the boost to the self confidence that these past two successes will have given Scotland is immeasurable. A truer test comes next month when they travel to Portugal for a friendly.

Scotland (1) 3 (Crawford 11, 73, Thompson 50)
Canada (1) 1 (De Rosario (pen) 9)

My heart = INTER...No Matter Win or Lose...

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

Hirschfeld played alright. 1st goal was a break away, he cma eout to cut the angle, but lucky for the striker he shot it between his legs. 2nd goal was a HUGE defensive lapse. Lars had no chance. 3rd goal, a cross was swung in to the far post, Lars mad a reflex save with his leg, the rebound went o Crawford I believe and Lars had no chance.

Canadian Press game report

The starting formation, as I understand it, was 3-5-2, like this:

Code:
        de Rosario Radzinski

                Stalteri

de Guzman Imhof Nsaliwa Pozniak

      Hastings McKenna Fenwick
Given our weakness at the back, maybe Osieck should reconsider this formation and go with a 4-4-2.

Jason de Vos spent the game on the bench, apparently injured. Don't we have other defenders who are healthy, who could have played?

Was anybody impressed with Tam Nsaliwa? The more I see of him the less certain I am that he belongs on the starting lineup.

The CSA website purported to be carrying live updates on the score. By the end of the game, however, they were still showing the score as 1-1. Were they relying entirely on Rogers Cable for their information?
