Radzinski

Tomasz wants to play for Canada in the next World Cup.

"There are lots of youngsters who play until they are 13 or 14 but then switch to some other sport because there is nothing going on professionally. We have a long way to go in Canada but the potential is there. I think we will have a good team for the next World Cup. There are some very good younger players who will provide the base for success."

.....

"I am pleased to be a part of the Canadian squad again and will do everything I can to help us qualify in four years time. We have only done it once before, in 1986, and it is something that would give a big boost to soccer in Canada. It's good to be back."

This is definitely good news. His season has been hindered by injuries, but when healthy, he was Toffees' best player. Playing up front with Duncan Ferguson only made him seem better in comparison.

Should be interesting. With him we should at least make it to final round of qualifying.

Our program would not be so bad if our CSA officials get their act together.

Radzinski and Owen Hargreaves would have been a very solid nucleus to build from.

But thats Canada, i guess....

In Canada, we give out choices to players if they want to play in Canada or not! We do not have a rule that if you played and are a canadian citizen, even though you moved and have your citizenship, than you have to play for our team!

Most go and play for there mother countries.

Radzinksi plays for Poland
Owen plays for England

ANy more players on our Corrupted NT that are from another country?

Radzinski plays for Canada. Well, he has played for Canada in the past and as recent as a friendly several months ago. Jeff's first post in this thread states that (i think).

He had some problems with Osieck, but looks those are hopefully something of the past.

Radzinski could have played for Poland if Poland's chiefs saw his potential. He never received a call-up, so he joined the Canadian team.

He was born in Poland and came here around the age of 13 or something.

Hopefully he can lead Canada into the next WC. Would be nice.

Dude you need a serious lesson in Canadian Soccer ...

Start here: http://www.canadian-soccer.com/canadians_caps-A.html

It's a list for all the players that are Cap Tied to Canada. The CSA even uses our lists to keep track of their players! How funny is that!

Too bad,he's now 29 which is the age where a player is usually at his best.If we qualify for Germany 2006,I doubt that he will still be the player that he is today.

I've red the artcile and I understand that the priority was his club before his country. However, all the Europeean leagues are out in the summer, and we had a few World Cup qualifiers in the summer of 2000,so I am sure that he could have joined the team at that time.

But I'm glad that our new goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld his a very good goalkeeper,he did very well in the Gold Cup!

That's more or less what he wanted to do, but Osieck said it was all or nothing, so Radz chose nothing. This is nothing new, however, in Canadian football. Incompetent CSA employees and stubborn coaches have cost us more than our share of players.

Celtic's teenage striker Simon Lynch, who has been terrorizing defences in the U21 league got his first senior league start of the seasons today. He helped himself to a brace. What's the reason I'm writing this? The kid was born in Montreal. I wonder if anyone in CSA knows this.

Finally some good news for Canadian soccer! Radzinski will be able to bring a lot of good to the attack during qualifying. Like somebody mentioned, he'll be a lot older come WC time but some players age gracefully, you never know.

Simon Lynch is the son of ex-Montreal Manic player Andy Lynch. He was born in Montreal but lived there for only about 2 years. When his father's time with the Montreal Manic were over, so was young Simon's brief tenure as a Canadian.

The CSA is aware of this, and really Simon has shown no interest in playing for Canada. His aim is to play for Scotland.

We've capped people with less Canadian connection, and I think if he doesn't get to play for Scotland, he'll be more open to suggestions.

IF he doesn't get capped, which is highly unlikely.
