BAMAKO (February 1, 2002 11:22 PM EST) - The latest installment in one of international soccer's most bitter rivalries will be played out at the African Nations Cup on Sunday when Nigeria faces Ghana in a potentially explosive quarterfinal.

Nigeria, regarded as one of the tournament favorites, faces a youthful Ghanaian side which only scraped into the last eight thanks to a miraculous 2-1 win over Burkina Faso last week.

Fixtures between the two teams have a history of producing fireworks, but Nigeria coach Shaibu Amodu is determined not to let the 'Ghana factor' distract his team in a match he is confident the Super Eagles will win.

"Ghana vs. Nigeria is always a rivalry and each time we play it's always like two giants fighting.
And you will see that in the game come Sunday," Amodu told AFP.

The TV5 web site has conflicting information as to whether the final between Cameroon and Senegal will be shown live in Canada on Sunday morning.

All we know for sure is that it will be rebroadcast on tape on Monday afternoon.

I get the idea that they are showing it on Monday.

One thing I know for sure is that I hope Cameroon loses for wearing those godawful no sleeve kits that look like they belong on basketball players!

Yeah, that was in the Egypt game.

But they wore regular shirts for the Mali game on Thursday.

It's Africa. It's hot. They can wear whatever they like.

Actually the game I was watching last Thursday they were wearing those short sleeved shirts.

Also if one team can manage the heat wearing regular shirts then both teams can manage it.

Thts what I think anyway!

What the hell was I watching on Thursday then? The game that was aired at 1 pm Vancouver time (tape delayed). It was the only game I saw in it's entirety and one of the teams was wearing no sleeved shirts, thats how I knew about them. Was that a game that was played earlier in the tournament that they decided to show?

You're right, K-man, and I'm wrong. :embarass:

My memory was faulty. Photos from the Thursday game clearly show Cameroon was wearing the sleeveless shirts.

That pic I posted must have been from an old game.

Hell, I was starting to think I had been watching the wrong game seeing as nobody else made any comments to back me up.

Hey, in this forum, everyone assumes that my words are the gospel until someone proves otherwise!

True, but I thought maybe at least one other person was watching, and was able to prove otherwise!
