Qualifying for 2018 World Cup

This is likely to be a very short thread, but here goes anyway.

The qualifying draw was made on July 25, and Canada's matches for the foreseeable future are:

Third Round (Sept. 4 & 8):
Canada v. Belize; two leg knockout

Fourth Round (Group Stage)
Either Canada or Belize will advance to play in Group A, along with Mexico, Honduras, and the winner of the El Salvador-Curaçao matches from the Third Round.

Fifth Round
In this final round, the top 2 teams from each of the 3 Fourth Round Groups will play in a six-country mini-league tournament. The top 3 countries will qualify for the World Cup and the 4th best team goes into an intercontinental playoff.

Canada finally found a team it could score goals against:

from the Canadian Press:
Canada ended its (308-minute) scoring drought with a 3-0 win over underdog Belize on Sept. 4, setting the stage for what should be a comfortable return leg in the World Cup qualifier on September 8 in Belize.

Canada only led 1-0 at the half against a mostly part-time team it should have carved open. It dominated possession but showed little teeth in front of goal until late in the game as the visitors sagged before an announced crowd of just 10,412 at BMO Field.

The aggregate winner will join Mexico, Honduras, and probably El Salvador, in the group stage.

In the first two group matches, against Honduras and El Salvador, Canada kept clean sheets, and managed to come away with a win and a draw by scoring only one goal.

The crunch comes in the home and away matches with Mexico, March 25 and 29, 2016. Canada will need a lot more than one goal to come away from those encounters with any points at all.

Probably get one point from the Mexico series, but anything more would be a good indication of a chance at the hexagonal.

Well, to nobody's surprise, Canada lost both games to Mexico, and scored 0 goals.

I'd say there's still an outside chance Canada can advance, but that would require actually scoring a goal.
