Jesse Marsch and Montreal Impact part ways

The Montreal Impact and manager Jesse Marsch announced on Saturday morning that they have parted ways.

"I'm leaving the club by mutual agreement," Marsch announced during a press conference alongside owner Joey Saputo and sporting director Nick de Santis. "It's not easy with the relationships that we've built, but for me it's the right decision.

"Although we have the same goals, we did not share the same philosophy," continued Marsch. And his comments were echoed by Saputo.

"This is an amicable parting of ways, for the better of the club," Saputo said. "While we had the same long-term objective for this organization, we realized we did not share the same view on how to get there."

Reports from Italy that Andrea Pisanu is on his way to Canada: Trial was Successful?

Reports from Italy are that one of the prospects the Impact tried out in Italy, 30 year old Andrea Pisanu, will join the team.
According to a Sky Sports Italy reporter: "Pisanu ready to fly to Canada"

Described as "highly skilled but injury prone" he's the type of guy that could be an amazing pickup(a la Filipe) or a talented waste(ie: Rivas) basically on a flip of a coin. Given the over reliance we have on Filipe(the transition without him is basically nonexistent) another talented offensive midfielder will be useful, especially if it reduces the playing time of Mapp, who has a questionable fitness level, and Arnault who works hard but lacks the talent to get the ball to Di Vaio when it counts.

Head coach Schällibaum has no intention on changing the captain

Davy Arnaud will keep the armband in 2013

Despite being a little ambiguous in response to the question by reporters Monday morning, Impact head coach Marco Schällibaum confirmed to Impact Media that Davy Arnaud will remain as the team’s captain, barring an unforeseen turn of events.

“It’s difficult for me to answer such a question after just one training session, as I don’t know the players all that well yet,” said Schällibaum. “Obviously, I need time to get to know the personalities on the team, so I have to be wary of confirming certain roles for certain players. However, I would like to say that I am very happy with the captain we have in place. Davy was a great choice and remains one today.”

Impact happy to continue tinkering with midfield setup

MONTREAL – By their own accounts, Impact head coach Marco Schällibaum wants to play four at the back while star forward Marco Di Vaio wants to play alone up front. Now, the Swiss tactician and his staff just need to figure out how to set up the five players in between.

Academy update:
U21s unbeaten this winter

New opportunities for younger players

The Montreal Impact Academy is well-represented this year at the preseason camp for the club’s pro team in Major League Soccer, but that means the U21 side has been forced to make changes.

Not only has former U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy and Academy goalkeeper coach Youssef Dahha joined the first team’s coaching staff, but some of the U21s’ core group of players from last year are knocking on the door, including defender Karl W. Ouimette, who earned a contract midseason in 2012, along with midfielder Wandrille Lefevre, left-back Maxim Tissot and forward Mircea Ilcu. All three are showing well in Florida, while goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, midfielder Zakaria Messoudi and forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel are with the Canadian U20 national team looking to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup.

The Impact wants a sea of blue at Olympic Stadium vs TFC
March 16 to set the tone for second MLS season

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=rxIwK9TJ6Wo

More than ever, we are counting on our 12th player, the team’s supporters,” said Impact executive vice-president Richard Legendre. “We’d love to have a sea of blue to drown out the wave of red. We invite all our supporters at the stadium to sing and chant with the Ultras. We want our players to feel that the city is behind them, just as they were in last year’s home opener. March 16 could set the tone for the rest of our second season in MLS.”
