LOL! This is hilarious!

The CSA's official website has a list of upcoming games for Canada's men's national team (look above the red bar that says "Next Games"). Reading in chronological order, from bottom to top, we see listings for the three group matches in the Gold Cup (against Jamaica, El Salvador, and Costa Rica) and then a listing for a match July 18 against "TBA".

Is this a friendly? No, it's simply the CSA assuming that the national team will make it to the Gold Cup quarter-finals!

Canada's July 10 opponent Costa Rica recently handed the USA their ass in a World Cup qualifier, 3-1 on June 3.

And our July 7 opponent El Salvador nearly beat the US on March 28 in a WC qualifier; they allowed the US to score twice in the last 13 minutes to tie the game 2-2. When's the last time Canada tied the US? Then on June 6 El Salvador beat Mexico 2-1.

Our July 3 opponent Jamaica beat Canada 3-0 last November in Jamaica, after a 1-1 draw in Toronto last August; both teams failed to advance in the WC qualifying tournament.

Not sure where this negative vibe is coming from. I think we'll do well. That Ryan Johnston article and posts following was full of disinformation.

This is where you're going to start seeing how good the MLS will be for us. Remember, Hainault, Jakovic, Johnson, this is going to be the core for the future.

Anyone else concerned by the lack of a quality GK? Where is Lars about Brennan? On the plus side Serioux was dropped, the guy is a hack and does not belong on the team.

Lars is looking for a new club and declined, Brennan wasn't asked, not surprising since we have better players at his position and he hasn't gotten along with the past three coaches.

As for goalkeeping it's not too bad, Sutton would have been the starter at the last Gold Cup until he had his bell rung and Kenny has done well in his NT appearances (remember Spain). Wagenaar had a pretty good year for Yeovil until he was out of the lineup and the team had a hot streak with the replacement.

No, that's the new CSA being helpful, letting us know that we might have to make further arrangements (like travelling across the US) which we've had to do the last few times when we advanced beyond the tourny play.

Signed with a new club until 2011.

Cottbus' sporting director said "We're delighted that Lars Hirschfeld decided to join FC Energie. The fact that he immediately canceled all his international engagements to get to know his new team and establish himself as the Cottbus number one shows how committed he is to this fresh challenge".

That is a terrible squad.

The team two summers ago was much better than this, although it's nice to see McKenna in there.

How do you come up with that? Who's missing that isn't injured or has a decent excuse?

Who's our best attacking player? DeRo. He's not there, so the team is instantly weaker.

I figured you'd say that. Our best attacking player? Maybe our most inconsistent. Instantly weaker? I think not. There isn't a whole lot of talk on the other boards about missing DeRo.

Our team became instantly weaker when Rad cut his hand in WCQ, he was one of the few who showed up that night and now he's essentially stepped aside like Onstad.

As for Big Kev he has never been great as a defender for us. Hell, he's been more effective as a striker, his strike rate (24%) isn't too far from DeRo's (29%)

Aside from DeRo how is this team so terrible? Serioux? Anybody else on TFC?

Looks like Poz, Gbeke and Stama are reserves in event of injury and are not part of the 20 man roster in camp.

Gotta give the man his props, MOTM vs Guatemala. I hope that's a good sign for the future.

Ali GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

What a beautiful strike! So happy to start off with a win.

By the way, De Jong and Will Johnson are two of the least creative wingers we've had in a long time. What a difference from DeRo and Radz.

I'll grant you DeJong hasn't been great so far but you're standing alone in your opinion on Johnson from what everyone else is saying.

And still, nobody is missing the inconsistent DeRo.
