Atiba Hutchinson

Since Atiba Hutchinson has moved to the biggest and by far richest club in Scandinavia, FC København (FC Copenhagen), I'll make this thread to keep you up up to date (please ask if you got any questions about FCK). But ofcause also in hope that you will post the latest news about his performances for the Canadian NT...
---

FC København Training games in this winter break :

January 22:

FC København v Schalke 04 : 0-0
Attendance: 12,000

The match was played the same day Atiba Hutchinson was in action for Canada against the USA, so Hutchinson missed this training game against the Bundesliga side with all their best players.
---

January 30, La Manga Cup :
Lokomotiv Moscow v FC København: 1-2 (1-0)
Attendance: ?

Lineup:
Gall
Kvist - Bertolt - Bergdølmo - Rooba
Pimpong - Hutchinson - Linderoth - Bergvold
Álvaro - Allbäck

Several of the usual regular starters for FCK were missing (Jesper Christiansen, Michael Gravgaard, Lars Jocobsen and Michael Silberbauer), since they had traveled to HongKong with the Danish Domestic league NT to participate in the Carlsberg Cup, while the Norwegian Brede Hangeland hasn't returned from his trip to the USA with the Norwegian NT. So with also Dan Thomassen being ill, all the natural central defenders were missing.

Still, FCK won 2-1 against Lokomotiv Moscow in La Manga. The FCK goals were scored by the Swedish International Markus Allbäck and the Danish U20 NT talent Martin Bernburg. Atiba Hutchinson played a very good debut match for FCK in central midfield along with the Swedish International Tobias Linderoth. According to the official FCK website, Atiba reminded alot of Patrick Vieira in his style of play and FCK were in control of the central midfield throughout this match, while especially the Brazillian forward Álvaro Santos was a constant threat in the Russian penalty area, though the Russians survived 4-5 very big FCK attempts in the first 45 minutes, with two of them being saved by the Moscow defense right on the goal-line. So it was not a deserved 1-0 lead to the Russians at halftime. However, the Russians were not able to keep FCK from scoring twice in the 2nd half...

Besides the Royal League, the winter break has now finished in Denmark. On march 5th, FCK were eliminated in the Danish Cup quarterfinals by Brøndby also getting some unfortunately red cards to the Swedish international Tobias Linderoth and Razak Pimpong, who both ironically will be serving their penalty in the Danish Superliga in the match today against Brøndby..

Danish Cup, Quarterfinals (Round 6):

March 5:
Brøndby v FC København 0-0 (extra time 1-0)
Red card: Tobias Linderoth, FCK (73')
Red card: Razak Pimpong, FCK (78')
1-0 Johan Elmander (103')

Superliga, March 12 :

Brøndby IF - FC København 3-0 (1-0)
1-0 Thomas Rasmussen (27)
2-0 Martin Ericsson (50)
3-0 Martin Retov (65)
Attendance: 26,018

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2024

The top clash between Brøndby and FCK started with some entertaining football at a high pace. FCK seemed to be slightly in charge of the first 25 minutes and their new Canadina midfielder Atiba Hutchinson came close to scoring his first Superliga goal, but after the Brøndby scoring by Thomas Rasmussen the home team took more and more control of the match and it became clear that the red card to the FCK midfield General Tobias Linderoth in the Danish Cup quarterfinal against Brøndby, giving him a match ban in the Superliga, showed to be a serious handicap for FCK in this match.

It did ofcause not help that Brøndby showed to be very effective and got a good start of the last 45 minutes when newly signed Martin Ericsson scored by a header, taking advantage of a big defensive mistake by FCK after a corner kick. The Brazilian FCK forward Álvaro Santos got his chance to keep FCK in the match, but his shot was saved and being 2 goals behind the FCK play slowly went to pieces, though it took yet another big defensive mistake by FCK for Brøndby to make the last goal of the match, when a very poor pass from Michael Silberbauer went straight to Martin Retov.

Superliga, April 1 :

AGF Aarhus - FC København 0-4 (0-0)
0-1 Marcus Allbäck (47)
0-2 Thomas Hansen, Owngoal (65)
0-3 Atiba Hutchinson (74)
0-4 Marcus Allbäck (88)
Attendance: 6,292

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2047

In the end a huge home loss to AGF, but in a match where AGF in truth played a very good first half, also producing the biggest opportunity of the first 45 minutes, though it was misused by Christer George. So it was surely a match that highlighted the misfortune and usual lack of self-confidence that often makes the difference between top and bottom.

Misfortune, because the FCK attack had looked totally harmless until the very start of the 2nd half when a ball a bit by chance (and by an AGF player) ended up at Marcus Allbäck who could hardly miss this opportunity and then 18 minutes later when AGF's Thomas Hansen finished his own team off by a misfortunate owngoal, by a header "assisted" by FCK's Michael Silberbauer, and leading to AGF showing the lack of self-confidence of a bottom team that totally fall to pieces when getting two goals behind. So from then on the last 25 minutes was all FCK and they could just as well have won 5-0, since Allbäck wrongfully got a goal disallowed for being offside.

3-2 Marcus Allbäck (75)
3-3 Tommy Olsen (83)
Attendance: 21,686

Before this match, FCK had won all 10 games between the two clubs in the Superliga in the past and to make matters even worse for FC Nordsjælland, then because of injuries and match bans the average age in their team was only 22.5, so it looked to be a mission impossible for the young talents in this very difficult away match in Parken Stadium. Never the less, FCK did not impress and the young FCN players took advantage of this fact, making a very good performace.

Congrats to FC København with the Scandinavian championship for the 2nd year in a row.

It was a deserved win in a match that was surely not well played but a hard physical fight from start to finish. However, FCK simply showed to be more clever playing, stronger and sharper looking in defense and attack than their opponent.

Even without André Bergdølmo and the Danish Superliga player of the year Michael Gravgaard in defense their replacements Urmas Rooba and Dan Thomassen showed the needed quality, making the FCK defense look very solid and not leaving any space to Occean and the otherwise very hardworking/defending Lillestrøm players. Atiba looked good in midfield, showing some good moves, while his midfield partner, Swedish international Tobias Linderoth looked very good as ball-winner. In attack especially Michael Silberbauer and Ijeh had their moments, but it was the sub Razak Pimpong that finished Lillestrøm off in the end. In other words, FCK won the RL once again by having better sub's and a better squad than the other teams in this tournament..

FC København - Brøndby IF 0-0 (0-0)
Attendance: 41,201

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2078

The top clash between FCK and Brøndby was unfortunately a bit disappointing. A very high pace game and a step in the right direction for a FCK team that clearly dominated, but it was not a match of all that good quality. Atiba Hutchinson did well and almost got to score when he hit the top bar in the first half...

Superliga, April 26:

FC Nordsjælland - FC København 1-1 (1-0)

Superliga, April 17:

FC København - SønderjyskE 4-1 (2-1)
0-1 Jacob Gregersen (31)
1-1 Marcus Allbäck (38)
2-1 Michael Silberbauer (42)
3-1 Jacob Stolberg (Owngoal) (46)
4-1 Álvaro Santos (71)
Attendance: 20,660

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2066

Though it was top against bottom in the Superliga, SønderjyskE made a good start while the FCK pace and passing lacked a bit throughout this match. Never the less FCK looked physically stronger and they were also clearly the better team. So even if FCK manager Ståle Solbakken could not be quite happy with the play, he could be happy with the final result and with Allbäck and Santos scoring a goal each. They are now both first in line to become Superliga topscorer this season...and perhaps I should remind you that FCK has never had a Superliga topscorer in the past, ever !...

Despite FCM is stuck in the middle of the table with nothing much to play for it was a very even match between FCM and FCK. FCK did not impress and FCM felt robbed by the referee when Marcus Allbäck scored the 1-1 goal, since Allbäck used his shoulder/arm to get control of the ball. FCM were not all that happy with the penalty either.

Superliga, May 4 :

Viborg FF - FC København 0-1 (0-0)
0-1 Marcus Allbäck (81)
Attendance: 9,353

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2087

Neither Viborg or FCK impressed in a not all that entertaining match, but by an absolute brilliant goal (the highlight of the match) by the Swedish international Marcus Allbäck then FCK kept the 6 point lead to Brøndby with only two games left to play. It now seem 99.9% certain that Atiba Hutchinson and FCK are going to win the Danish Championship and the team is going to look even stronger next season...

The FCK director/chairman Flemming Østergaard has said to the media that he is prepared to sign the player(s) manager Ståle Solbakken may have on top of his wanted list to make the team stronger for the Champions League qualification. According to the Danish *ESM TIPS-Bladet and the Magazine FOCUS, the South African international Sibusiso Zuma may be on his way back to FCK after having spending one season in the German Bundesliga playing for Arminia Bielefeld.

"I miss FCK and Flemming Østergaard. Just think if I could once again play for FCK," says Zuma who has made it clear that he has no intention of staying in Bielefeld if they get relegated from the Bundesliga.

Brøndby IF - FC Nordsjælland 3-1 (2-0)

Attendance: 12,722

By beating a FCN team that had nothing to play for then Brøndby did what was needed to keep the very slim chance of keeping up with FCK in the fight for the Danish Championship. However, the truth is that the Championship was more or less decided in the 0-0 draw aganst FCK and that FCK also clearly look like they are better team at the moment. Brøndby have not played all that well after the winter break. Especially the Brøndby central defense has looked weak after the loss of Daniel Agger to Liverpool and without an injury struck Per Nielsen..

Perhaps this fact has made Brøndby take a good look at the 27-yo Romanian central defender Sorin Ghionea. According to Danish TV2 and Romanian media Brøndby are keen on signing the Romanian International (5 caps) from the UEFA Cup semifinalists Steaua Bucuresti. It's clear to see that Brøndby have become weaker after the loss of Agger to Liverpool, Morten Skoubo to Real Sociedad and Thomas Kahlenberg to Auxerre, not to forget also losing Sebastian Svärd to Vitoria Guimaraes. They may also very well lose the highly rated Swedish international and Brøndby topscorer Johan Elmander after this season. So Brøndby are surely in need of reinforcements if they want success in the EC next season.

The French football website 'football.fr' has btw just selected 23-yo Thomas Kahlenberg as the 4th best signing in the French league this season, behind Franck Ribery (Marseille), Tiago (Lyon) and Kader Keita (Lille)...

OB Odense - FC Midtjylland 0-1 (0-0)
0-1 Frank Kristensen (73)
Attendance: 8,937

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2085

OB missed the opportunity to leave Viborg hoplessly behind in the fight for the Bronze medals in what seemed to be a fairly easy task at Fionia Park. However, FCM won by a header by Frank Kristensen, though the match was dominated by a unfortunately not all that sharp looking OB team.

OB seem to be heading for some rather big changes in the team after this season. Not only is the very experienced midfielder Nicolai Stokholm moving to Viking in Norway, but also the newly signed 29-yo Brazilian forward "Junior" (José Luiz Guimarães) may be leaving after his short and very successful stay, scoring 8 goals in 15 Superliga games. The Italian Seria A side Reggina seem interested in signing the Brazilian, and the two Zambian players Mwape Miti and Andrew Tembo are leaving after having spend the past 9 years at the club. Miti is going to retire while Tembo is not going to get his contract renewed. Miti is btw the most scoring foreigner in the history of the Superliga, having scored 109 goals in 246 games for OB. The 24-yo forward (and Morocco international) "Bobo" Boudéns contract is to expire and he says that he has offers from a Spanish and a French team (from La Liga and the French 1st division)...

SønderjyskE needed a win to keep their very slim chance of survival in the Superliga, but they also needed a win to already relegated AGF against AC Horsens and since neither happened then SønderjyskE are now relegated. Superliga, May 7 :

OB Odense - FC København 1-0 (1-0)
1-0 "Junior" (3)
Attendance: 15,305

http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2090

Despite losing to OB at Fionia Park, FCK became Danish Champions 2005/06 in a match dominated by FCK for the most part. OB took the lead by a good shot from 20 meters by the Brazilian forward "Junior". FCK's Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland got the opportunity to score only a few mintues later, but his very close range header surprisingly missed the target while a very good long range shot from 30 meters by Martin Bergvold was brilliantly saved by OB's Polish keeper Arek Onyszko. The last 45 minutes FCK were more or less in control, though without looking all that dangerous in attack and with OB being happy to keep their lead to stay in 3rd place, with a two points lead, then both the FCK and OB players had reason to be happy after the match. FCK manager Ståle Solbakken says that he will now concentrate on getting his team ready for the CL qualification and that they will need some reinforcements to make the squad even better...

23-yo Atiba Hutchinson says to the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende that home in Toronto he, like many other ppl, used to watch the English PL on TV and that his big wish is to play in the EPL some day, though he ofcause is also interested in playing in one of the other top leagues in Europe.

When he was 19 he moved from Canada to Swedish Öster, later he moved to Helsingborg and this winter to the Scandinavian Champions FC København as one of manager Ståle Solbakkens two first signings and Solbakken belive that Hutchinson got the ability to move to a bigger league at some point.

- "He (Hutchinson) has to develop one step at a time and in 2-3 years from now I think he will be ready for a bigger league. But he came [to FCK] from a smaller team and first he has to show stability at this higher level" says Solbakken.

Both the Swedish FCK players, defensive midfielder Tobias Linderoth and shared FCK and Superliga topscorer Marcus Allbäck were selected yesterday for the Swedish WC squad to play at the WC-06 finals in Germany...

Swedish NT Coach Lars Lagerbäck says :

Tobias Linderoth - "Our rock in midfield, extremely useful and important. Loyal and willing to work"

Marcus Allbäck- "Perhaps the most clinical finisher in the [Swedish NT] squad. An obvious choice."

27-yo Tobias Linderoth has so far won 56 caps and scored 1 goal for Sweden, while 32-yo Marcus Allbäck so far has won 55 caps and scored 23 goals, making him the 2nd most scoring forward in the Swedish NT at the moment. (34-yo Henrik Larsson has won 88 caps and scored 34 goals, while 24-yo Zlatan Ibrahimovic has won 37 caps and scored 18 goals for Sweden)

Fewer goals was scored this season in compare with the past 3 seasons, just proving the fact that the league got more tactical and less entertaining this season..

FCK invited to G-14 Conference in Brussels

As the only Scandinavian club ever, FCK have now been invited to participate in a G-14 Conference on may 30 and 31 in Brussels. G-14 is a grouping of 18 of the richest and most powerful clubs in Europe. The G-14 seem to be looking for more clubs to join their grouping and it's only possible to become a new member of the G-14 by invitation (..and by being very rich )...

Jesper Grønkjær to FCK ?

According to one of Denmarks most reliable and respectable newspapers, Politiken. Then the 28-yo Danish international (59 caps, 5 goals) Jesper Grønkjær is having serious talks with FC København and may very well be on his way to the Danish Champions in their efford to make the team ready for Champions League qualification. Grønkjær has been a bit up and down and not had the best of times in Germany playing for VfB Stuttgart in his first season in the Bundesliga and at this point seem to be affordable for FCK to sign ...

Neither Jesper Grønkjær, FCK-chairman Flemming Østergaard or head coach Ståle Solbakken are interested in saying much:

”Jesper is a good player and a nice guy (…) I've been presented with many 'new FCK players', among others [Danish internationals] Niclas Jensen and Claus Jensen – and now also Jesper Grønkjær is named. It's probably understandable that guesses are made and names being named ” Ståle Solbakken says to Politiken.

Solbakken btw used to be a team-mate of Grønkjær in AaB in 1998, before the Danish winger moved to Ajax and then later Chelsea, Birmingham, Atletico Madrid and now Stuttgart. Earlier this month the German *ESM, Kicker, reported that Grønkjær was on his way out and Stuttgart is looking for his replacement..

Lately also the Swedish AM/F Tobias Grahn (AGF) and the Swedish brothers Pontus and Alexander Farnerud (Racing Strasbourg) have both been rumoured to the Danish champions FCK.

Latest FCK news:

While the two Swedish FCK players Marcus Allbäck and Tobias Linderoth are doing well by scoring goals and making assists for Sweden at the WC in Germany, then FCK have so far added two more Swedes to the squad while letting two players go in this transfer window.

The 29-yo Nigerian 3rd forward Peter Ijeh was never the success thay had hoped and has been sold to the Norwegian side Viking (transfer fee €400,000), while the 29-yo former Danish international (8 caps, 1 goal) Thomas Røll Larsen has been granted a free transfer to the Danish Superliga team FC Midtjylland...

To replace Peter Ijeh, FCk have signed a 4-year contract with the 27-yo Swedish international (10 caps, 2 goals) Fredrik Berglund, who has scored 57 goals in 99 games for Esbjerg fB the past 2½ seasons. The very quick forward also played 2½ seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie for Roda JC before moving to Denmark. The transfer fee is said to be around €670,000.

FCK have also signed a 4-year contract with the highly rated 20-yo Swedish IFK Göteborg left back Oscar Wendt, who has won 10 caps and scored 1 goal for the Swedish U21 NT and is expected to become the future left back on the Swedish A-NT. Last year Wendt said no to an offer from the Dutch side Heerenveen, but this time chose to sign a deal with FCK. The transfer fee is said to be in the area of €800,000.

FCK also seem very close to signing the 28-yo Danish international (60 caps, 5 goals) Jesper Grønkjær. According to Danish news media, VfB Stuttgart and the Danish Champions FC København have now agreed on a €2 million transfer fee, so all that is left for the deal to become reality is that the former Ajax, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid winger reach an agreement with FCK over his personal terms. FCK seem ready to pay Grønkjær between €700k to €800k a year in wages to finalize the deal.

It's now a fact that FCK have signed a 4 year contract with the former Ajax, Chelsea and Atlético Madrid winger Jesper Grønkjær, who gets shirt number 10 and start playing for FCK on monday. I would say that Atiba Hutchinson and FCK now seem ready to play Champions League and defend their Scandinavian and Danish championships...

-------------------------
3rd Qualifying Round draw
-------------------------

FC København (Den) v Ajax (Ned)

By having progressed to the 3rd qualifying Round FCK secured atleast 4 more games in Europe, since they qualify for the UEFA Cup 1st round if they lose this tie to Ajax.

It should not be forgotten that FCK actually did eliminate Ajax to reach the 3rd round of the UEFA cup in 2001/02. Ofcause both teams have improved since then. Ajax perhaps got more EC experience, but then FCK got the advantage of having already played the important 2nd qualifying round tie and started their season in the Danish league, while this is not the case for the Dutch.

Champions League:

-----------------------------
3rd Qualifying Round, 1st leg
-----------------------------

FC København (Den) v Ajax (Ned) 1-2
0-1 Klaas Jan Huntelaar 37'
1-1 Brede Hangeland 47'
1-2 Klaas Jan Huntelaar 84'
Attendance: 40,014
http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/UCL...report=RP.html

As you probably know, then FCK unfortunately lost their 1st leg match to Ajax, mainly due to Klaas Jan Huntelaar scoring by two ½-chances for the Dutch team, which only make it more regrettable that FCK chose to sell their Brazilian topscorer Álvaro Santos to Sochaux for around €3 million, just before this 3rd CL qualifier. Especially since FCK dont need the money and would not be able to find a good replacement in time for this tie. But they have not been quite happy with the progress Santos had made the past few years, so they sold him when they got a good offer.

FCK have now signed his replacement, the 21-yo Brazilian Ailton Almeida from the Swedish Allsvenskan side Örgryte. Ailton has shown to be a big youth Star in Swedish football, scoring 25 goals in 45 games for his Swedish team. The transfer fee is said to be €3 million + ?% of the transfer fee if ge gets sold + FCK unfortunately having to wait until January to get him. So they are not going to be able to make use of him in the EC at this point in time, but they asked coach Solbakken who he would like as the replacement for Santos and he told them that Ailton Almeida was on top of his wanted list, so they went to get him as quickly as possible.

As for the Danish Superliga, then FCK also got in trouble at home against last seasons Bronze medalists OB Odense :

Round 5:
Superliga, August 12 & 13 :

FC København - OB Odense 1-1 (0-1)
0-1 Tobias Grahn (32)
Red card: Tobias Grahn,OB (62)
1-1 Michael Gravgaard (83)
Attendance: 16,232
Match facts:
http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2126

OB Odense was the better playing and most dangerous looking team in the first half, so it was deserved that it was Tobias Grahn scoring the first goal of the match, but unfortunately for OB, same Grahn went from hero to being the bad guy in the 2nd half when he was shown a yellow card for diving, perhaps intentionally tripping over his own legs, and then a bit later making a foul on Jesper Grønkjær, earning him his 2nd yellow card. You could argue if the first yellow card was a bit harsh, but the red card to Grahn totally turned this match around, since the FCK coach then moved Michael Gravgaard from defense to attack and it from then on was FCK looking dangerous and being in control, totally dominating a 10 men OB who had big trouble keeping FCK from scoring. Gravgaard secured the draw for FCK by a header and an excellent assist by Grønkjær, while Swedish international Tobias Linderoth unfortunately saw his shot hit the woodwork. Like the rest of the team it was not really the best of games for Atiba Hutchinson either...

FC Nordsjælland - Vejle BK 1-0 (1-0)
1-0 Danny Olsen (31)
Match facts:
http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2128

It was one of the most attacking minded and most scoring Superliga team against the poorest defense in the league, so you would expect a big victory to FCN against newly promoted Vejle. However, despite FCN clearly dominating this match they also misused their chances, so Vejle got away with a small defeat. But Issey Nakajima-Farran and the rest of the Vejle are not surprisingly at the bottom of the Superliga.

Randers FC - Brøndby IF 1-1 (0-1)
0-1 Kim Daugaard (13)
1-1 Baye Djiby Fall (67)
Match facts:
http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/kampref.php?ID=2129

Just like last season, Brøndby still seem to have big trouble when playing in Jutland. Though Brøndby did dominate the first half of this match, it was Randers being the better team in the last 45 minutes and also producing some big opportunities against a not all that solid looking Brøndby defense.

Unlike FCK, then Brøndby have not really signed some big top class reinforcement in this transfer window, but only the rather unknow 25-yo Haitian international (10 caps) Jean-Phillipe Puegero from Red Bull New York (€800k transfer fee) plus some very talented but still very young Manchester United defenders, Mark Howard ( 3-year contract) and Adam Eckersley (on a 1-year loan deal). They have also signed the highly rated Australian U20 international David Williams, who is said to be the new 'Mark Viduka', but he's only 18, so I guess it will take some time for him to make his mark in the superliga. So far he has only got to play 6 minutes .

At the same time Brøndby have sold their Swedish international (19 caps, 7 goals) Johan Elmander to Toulouse (€5 million transfer fee) and the two Danish U21 NT talents Jonas Kamper to Armenia Bielefeld (€400k transfer fee) and Johan Absalonsen to OB Odense (€?), so it not very likely that Brøndby can be much of a threat to FCK's dream of a Danish Championship this season.

Champions League, Scandinavian teams :

-----------------------------
3rd Qualifying Round, 2nd leg
-----------------------------

Ajax (Ned) v FC København (Den) 0-2 (agg: 2-3)
0-1 Michael Silberbauer 59'
0-2 Thomas Vermaelen (owngoal) 77'
Attendance: 35,617

After having been very close to qualify in the past, but still missing out, then FCK finally made it to the CL group stage. To be honest, Ajax were quite lucky to win the 1st leg in Copenhagen, just as FCK were quite lucky to win the away leg with the needed 2-0. In both games the home team very much dominated the first half and could have scored more goals, but then didnt look too good in the 2nd half, so all-in-all is was a very close race and not undeserved that FCK progressed... and then it should not be forgotten that FCK made this away result not even fielding their absolute best player, Jesper Grønkjær.

In the end the main difference between Ajax and FCK seemed to be the much NT experience in the FCK team, since FCK played very clever the last 45 minutes of this tie, while the young Ajax players showed their lack of experience and looked scared of losing the tie when FCK scored their first goal of the match.

FCK have now faced Ajax twice in the EC and won both ties by beating Ajax in the away game. So it seems that FCK have now become a bit of a nightmare opponent for Ajax. It was btw an all together very good day for Danish football, since all the other Danish teams progressed in the UEFA cup and Denmark is now in 5th place on the UEFA country ranking this season, looking at the results so far .

Champions League :

-----------------
Group stage draw
-----------------

Group F
Manchester United (Eng)
Celtic (Sco)
Benfica (Por)
FC København (Den)
--

It was a very good draw for FCK and Hutchinson. Ofcause Manchester United seems a bit too strong, but a team like Celtic should not be impossible for FCK to handle and ther is no reason to get scared of Benfica either. Danish teams have usually done fairly well against both Scottish and Portuguese teams in the past and realistically FCK should be able to secure the 3rd spot in this group, qualifying the team for the last stages of the UEFA Cup. With a bit of luck, if all goes well, it is not impossible for FCK to be able to reach the 2nd place in this group and progress in the CL. Atleast this is what the Danish NT coach Morten Olsen and Danish experts following the CL closely (like former Glasgow Rangers player Brian Laudrup and United keeper Schmeichel) all seem to think of this draw.
