Lets hope we keep them to atmost 2 goals. If we played like we did agasint the Irish, expect 5-0

Starting lineup?

Apparently Hirschfeld will start in goal.

There are really only four Defenders on the roster: McKenna, Reda, Stalteri, and Klukowski, and we'll need all of them. Hutchinson and Simpson, though characterized as "D/M" are currently playing as Midfielders for their clubs. I think we need more defending specialists on the squad. Let's hope nobody at the back gets injured.

I can't see Frank Yallop playing more than two forwards against Portugal - more likely just a lonesome Radzinski up front, until halfway through the second half, when we're down 4-0 and he'll replace Radz with Occean.

That leaves room for 5 midfielders, and Yallop has 8 available. I suspect he will start deGuzman, Imhof, Brennan, De Rosario and Peters. Watch for Josh Simpson and Atiba Hutchinson to get some playing time as well.

This is going to be an important test for Canada and I hope Portugal shows us there best line up for at least a half. It will show us just how far we have to go to become a good team.

Actually, the Canadian Press is reporting that Dwayne's shot went off the crossbar and Kevin McKenna (a defender!) headed it in.

The reported lineup is interesting:

Canada: Lars Hirschfeld, Atiba Hutchinson (Jaime Peters, 78), Kevin McKenna, Marco Reda, Mike Klukowski, Julian De Guzman, Daniel Imhof (Chris Pozniak, 86), Paul Stalteri, Jim Brennan (Tomasz Radzinski, 46), Dwayne de Rosario, Olivier Occean (Patrice Bernier, 68).

It appears Yallop started with Occean as striker, perhaps with de Rosario moving up front as well; then brought on Radzinski to join Occean for the first 22 minutes of the second half while the score was still 2-0. Occean left in favour of an additional MF, Bernier, in the 68th minute.

He used Stalteri, who plays Defence for Werder Bremen, in Midfield; he used Hutchinson, who plays Midfield for Helsingborg, on Defence.

Chris Pozniak must have been a late roster substitute for Josh Simpson. Everyone got some playing time except the backup keeper.
