I don't think Brazil will make it to the final, but I suppose it will all depend on the groups.

The final round of Caribbean qualifying should be rather interesting...

Fenwick and McKenna may not be able to play because of club commitments in Scotland.

Both the July 12 and 14 games will be shown live on Sportsnet.

Roster:

Pat Onstad GK San Jose Earthquakes, MLS
Maycoll Canizalez M Werder Bremen
Richard Hastings D/M Graz AK
Paul Fenwick D Hibernian
Jason deVos D Wigan Athletic
Jason Bent M Plymouth Argyle
Paul Stalteri M Werder Bremen
Daniel Imhof M St. Gallen
Carlo Corazzin F Vancouver Whitecaps
Kevin McKenna D/F Heart of Midlothian
Martin Nash M Montreal Impact
Nick Dasovic D/M Vancouver Whitecaps
Davide Xausa M/F Livingston
Mike Klukowski M La Louviere
Nevio Pizzolitto D Montreal Impact
Chris Pozniak D/M Örebro
Iain Hume M/F Tranmere Rovers
Lars Hirschfeld GK Tottenham Hotspur
-----------------------------------
From the CSA website:

The roster includes veterans Nick Dasovic and Carlo Corazzin. Corazzin has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps and will play with Dasovic and the Whitecaps before join the group on July 5th. Martin Nash and Nevio Pizzolitto of the Montreal Impact will also join the squad on the 5th following their game against Syracuse on the 4th.

Mike Klukowski rejoins the team after earning his first international cap against Libya. He missed the Estonia game through injury and won the Belgian Cup Final with La Louviere on June 1 (missing out on Canada’s friendly with Germany). Iain Hume also returns to the squad for the first time since earning his first appearance against Libya in February.

Captain Jason deVos makes his first appearance since captaining Wigan to the English Second Division championship in April. He took time off to heal a broken bone in his foot following Wigan’s successful promotion.

Earning his first call-up since the 2002 Gold Cup is midfielder Jason Bent. Bent missed several friendlies after suffering a hamstring injury with Plymouth Argyle last season. Davide Xausa also returns to the squad for the first time since the friendly against the USA in January.

Kevin McKenna, who scored Canada’s goal against Germany, will look to repeat his accomplishments in the 2002 Gold Cup when he led the team in scoring with three goals. Defenders Paul Fenwick and Richard Hastings have also been called in along with Maycoll Canizalez.

The goalkeepers are veteran Pat Onstad, who has led the San Jose Earthquakes to a first place berth in the MLS Western Conference and suffered only one loss in 10 games (6-1-3). He is joined by Lars Hirschfeld (Tottenham) who has recovered from a hamstring injury suffered in March while on loan with English Second Division side Luton Town.

July 9 news release:

Atiba Hutchinson has replaced Mike Klukowski on the Gold Cup Roster and will join the team in Boston today. Klukowski suffered a mild thigh injury in training and will return to his club La Louvière in Belgium.

Hutchinson who plays for Östers in the Swedish Premier League has earned two caps for Canada and made his debut in January in a friendly game against the United States. He was unable to play against Estonia due to an ankle injury he suffered in training with Östers.

Radzinski has been recovering from a groin injury for the last few months. He is now back at training with Everton, but he's officially "unavailable" for the Gold Cup.

So mufyn, I take it nothing has happened in the past four days to make you change your prediction of a Mexico win? How fascinating!

Please keep us posted if you change your mind.

Just so its clarrified..No, brazil will not be boasting the likes of RC, Cafu, or the "3 R's". They will be playing there 2nd and 3rd string players. To name a few some ppl might know....Ewerthon, Kaka, Robinho

Decent performance against Costa Rica. We were lucky they didnt bury their chances. Hirshfield came up huge a few times though.

Well, I guess if you can't be good, the next best thing is to be lucky.

Luck certainly played a big part in keeping Costa Rica off the scoreboard in Canada'a 1-0 win in the July 12 opening game. Costa Rica are kicking themselves over missed chances. They were also thwarted at least three times by great goalkeeping from Lars Hirschfeld.

A defensive lapse in the second half allowed Paul Stalteri to push though and score the lone goal for Canada, quite against the run of play (which had even the cheerleading commentators on Sportsnet warning of a Costa Rica rout if Canada continued to play so poorly).

Canada meets Cuba on Monday at 6:30 EDT, 3:30 PDT (Not 4:30 PDT as Sportsnet was announcing on the broadcast today at half time :rollani: )
