Fire Giampaolo!

Our annual thread is 2 months earlier. Nonetheless, Giampaolo is not gonna get fired without a thread.

I hope it won't take 6 months like Last time, though

I'm usually not one to blame the coach. But this dude took the same squad and somehow made us worse.

Would have been better for us if it had taken longer with the last one.

No, Gattuso will come to our rescue again. If they don't fire Giampy tonight. Gattuso accepts the Genoa offer and whoops Giampaolo next week.

I don't mind Gattuso come back. At least he'll play proper 4-3-3.

Any way Milan stayed playing his tactics after the second goal tonight.

Gattuso will go at Genoa and beat Milan next week.

BTW while we're at it seems Maldini's career at Milan will die with Giampaolo. Maldini can go with Giampaolo if he wants.

Giampaolo got himself three extra days with the defeat (!!) in Torino, but now there’s no excuse not to fire him.

Today was one of the most embarrassing performances by Milan I can remember. Not only no quality and no organization; more importantly, no soul. No spirit.

The longer he stays the closer we will be to a catastrophic outcome.

“I believe in my ideas, but this Milan team looked like it turned up without ever having a training session together,” said Marco Giampaolo after a 3-1 defeat to Fiorentina.

Maldini: 'Players suffered under pressure'

We chose the Coach, we will defend him, it is right to give him some time. We knew there were some problems that we’d run into, although obviously we didn’t expect to lose four of the first six games, but also the quality of the football is unsatisfactory,” Maldini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Right now, it might look like a tunnel with no light, but as our Coach said, the way out is with hard work. We knew that relying on a young squad, during the period when we are waiting for the Coach to really become a leadership figure, there could be a risk of the pressure getting to them.

“Of course, it is the fault of the players, the club, the Coach, everyone. Last season, we finished one point off the Champions League places and they always supported us.

“I think the fans were right this evening to protest. The responsibility is to be shared around, otherwise it becomes too much of a burden to bear.

“We are only six rounds in, all is not lost. We know that in football, situations can turn rapidly. The worrying thing is that we saw such a downturn in performance from the Torino game on Thursday.

“It’s strange, because we played very well during pre-season and showed good organisation. There started to be some traffic in the central area of the field, causing some tactical problems and difficulty in moving the ball around.”

Milan had started with a 4-3-1-2 formation, but over the last two games switched to 4-3-3.

Giampaolo has worked with many systems and the day we first met, we discussed the variables, that football cannot be reduced to just numbers and shapes. You must be ready to realise where we can change and find a way around the obstacles. That isn’t just for the Coach, but also the players, because they might be young, but they do have some experience.”

Maldini believes he has found a reason for why Milan played so well for an hour against Torino on Thursday and so badly this evening with Fiorentina.

“Explaining such a big setback in performance over three days is difficult, unless you realise that was played in Turin and this is at San Siro.

“This is a very prestigious jersey with a lot of history behind it and some of the players are very young, not yet able to handle the comparison with the teams of the past. That can be difficult.

“These are good lads and if anything, we sometimes expect a more determined reaction from some of them. As I said, we knew that building a young, inexperienced and talented team would run this sort of risk.”

Despite all that's happening, I still feel choosing Giampaolo was justified at the time, taking into consideration all the variables. I won't fault them on that. What I blame them for is for making the same mistake Fassobelli made - failing to provide the team with the necessary players for the coach's preferred system.

I strongly doubt that Giampaolo is going to change his formation. He is just not that kind of coach. Do or die, he would rather be sacked with his idea of football.

What's his formation?

Please be informed that he's changed formation like 4 times already.

Honestly you guys should get Spalletti.

I know he's flawed but he has a consistent history of getting CL qualification over a long period of time.

And that is Milan's 1st priority.

Step by step like Inter did, hiring him and achieving that goal and then moving on.

Spalleti was a no brainier after it was evident we couldnt get to the better coaches BUT Paolo and Zvone have a lot to learn and time isnt on their side.

He might have changed something in attack (less than numbers suggest) but it's definitely a 4-3-X. Whether the attack is 1-2 or 2-1 or 3, it's the idea which doesn't change. The tactical plan over the players (which is the reason why Sacchi loves him so much). And we are not talking about champions anyway! You have a striker who had half a good season with Genoa, Suso who has been a Genoa/midtable Milan player, Castillejo and Musacchio Villarreal players, Kessie, Conti and Caldara Atalanta players, Bennacer and Krunic Empoli players etc... it's a team which in the long run any coach, Giampaolo included, would bring to 7th-10th position.
Montella is all but a genius, but he has a 36 yo Ribery who is better than anything Milan can offer (...and Chiesa).
