Serie A MD 14 Milan-Parma 2/12 2018 12:30 CET
Milan begins the month of December with an early clash with Parma. The visitors are only 2 points behind Milan and have won 2 on the trot against Sassuolo and Torino. Milan, on the other hand, has 1 draw against Lazio and 1 loss against Juventus in the 2 last games. Despite only scoring 7 goals in the last 5 games, Milan is still fifth highest scoring side. Parma, on the other hand, has only scored 14 goals with 16 goals conceded. Historically this game is a high scoring affair, with the average being 4.10 goals in the last ten Serie A encounters between these sides. But I don't expect many goals today with the game being an early one, I think Milan especially usually plays badly in the early games.
The lineups are out:
MILAN (4-3-3): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Abate, Zapata, Rodriguez; Kessié, Mauri, Bakayoko; Suso, Cutrone, Calhanoglu.
A disp.: Reina, A. Donnarumma, Conti, Laxalt, Simic, Brescianini, Bertolacci, Halilovic, Montolivo, Borini, Castillejo.
PARMA (4-3-3): Sepe; Iacopini, Bruno Alves, Bastoni, Gagliolo; Grassi, Scozzarella, Barillŕ; Biabiany, Inglese, Gervinho.
A disp.: Frattali, Bagheria, Stulac, Deiola, Ceravolo, Ciciretti, Gobbi, Di Gaudio, Gazzola, Rigoni, Sprocati.
We're back at 4-3-3, but my guess is that it's because of Gattuso wanting to have more central midfielders because of that defense. Would've liked to see Castillejo start, he has been resting for a couple of games, but I guess Calhanoglu is going to drop back and provide some creativity to that midfield. I'm actually really curious to see that midfield and especially Mauri. It's not creative and flashy but at least it should be pretty effective at pressing Parma and protecting the defense and with a RB as the CB in this game that could be a good move.
Milan has only lost once this season at home and that was against Juventus, so my prediction is 1-0 to Milan. And considering how December looks for us:
Torino, Olympiakos (away), Bologna (away), Fiorentina, Frosinone (away), Spal
we really need to make use of the easier schedule and win basically all these games. A good start in December is so important in that regard.
