Ha, me too!

You can't blame "culture" because Milan is known for having its own brand of football too (ironically also somewhat thanks to the Dutch trio?) neither can you blame money so what's the issue?

What a deal for Barca to have secured De Jong. Would have been an absolute key to our squad right now.

And oh, how nice was it that Juve also did not get a penalty for a handball

I don’t fully understand the “why can’t we play like Ajax” comments. We never played like Ajax. Nobody plays like them , except for Barca who adopted and developed it from them as a club psychology ages ago. You don’t just “play like” someone. These things are deep into club’s and country football culture and mentality. We need to play like Milan. Like the great Milan teams. You can’t just uproot a style or football mentality and plant it somewhere else. That takes decades to develop.

Apart from psychology and mentality, it’s how they train and develop players from a very young age, the incredible discipline and insistence on the Ajax concept, which gives them the ability to play like that. As you said, you don’t just “play like Ajax”.

It should be added that when Ajax don’t have the right level and composition of players in their squad, it can be quite painful to watch this type of football with the endless number of passes that lead to nothing. That has mostly been the case during the last few decades tbh.

Thank you for the lecture Bono

My comment "why cant we play like Ajax " was a joke. Of course most of us here know what it takes do reach a specific level.

This once again shows the total failure of our youth academy. Of course we should tend to develop players that play a a specific style of football - our style, instead the only players we seem to develop are average RBs and GKs. And we probably spend more than Ajax for the younger teams.

Have an Ajax like academy with a (old) Milan mentality and style of play.

My comment was not literally to "play like Ajax". I meant to be able to play entertainingly, like how we are used to the "Milan" way.

At present, even if we win some games, we play so horribly. These days I watch the EPL and really admire some of their games. Can you imagine saying this back in the early 2000s? No way

I took to be "why can't we play decent football" too.

Anyway, another cracking game today between the two EPL teams. Crazy first half. How I miss seeing Milan play these stages of CL. Watching Juve fail is a good comfort, but we need to get back.

Sane and Salah bombing from the flank with their SPEED AND AGILITY. Scoring for fun.

Not telling their no of assist or formation as a counter response

I don't think our academy is a total failure we've managed to produce good players it's just our system is broken. Too few players make it to the first team from there but over the last few years we've seen an improvement with Cutrone,Locatelli and Calabria coming through the ranks. I do agree though we play ugly football and Milan culture of football at times is awful. We need better players simple as.

Napoli is absolutely toothless and devoid of ideas - and they're supposed to be the second best team in Italy.

What a sad state of affairs Serie A has become.

Team-mate Gennaro Gattuso once said: "When I see what Andrea can do with the ball I have to ask myself whether I am a footballer."

Currently Ancelotti is somewhat of a hasbeen that hasn't adapted well to changing football. Clearly Napoli has been going from good to worse during his tenure. They played their best football before christmas and right now they are faltering.

I don't disagree with you except that there doesn't appear to be a domestic string of games these days where you say to yourself "this will be a good test for us in preparation for our Arsenal tie". More aptly it appears that at the present time, what measures a competitive team in Calcio is diametrically opposite to what works in European tournament play. It's not just a quality issue either, it also has to do with style play and overall approach to the game.

Again not say that Carlo has anything of substance to offer either. He's about as useful a coach as Callejon is as a player.

Team-mate Gennaro Gattuso once said: "When I see what Andrea can do with the ball I have to ask myself whether I am a footballer."
