After request from the Forum Managers at the Swiss forum. The Admins and the Community Managers have reviewed the various candidates for a new Forum Manager here. After talking it over with Athelas, we have decided to promote him. We are confident that he will add a lot to the Swiss forum, with his new status as the first Swiss FM of Xtratime.
Athelas is a very good poster, and a true football fan. Good luck as Forum Manager, Athelas!
This is actually the first i have heard about this since i raised the issue so you guys are obviously very good at keeping a secret (especially you Orange ...did they Brainwash you when you became a CM or something? )
Anyway even though there were St Gallen and Grasshopper fans here before Basel fans, i think it is very appropriate that the first Swiss FM here is a Basel fan
On a serious note i think that he is a great candidate and this is reward for being here for an extended amount of time and making your posts of a high quality.
If there is anything you need help with regarding the new FM functions available to make your posts and reports of an even better standard then don't hesistate to ask either myself or Viola (although i am not sure how much he is around these days)
Finally i echo Orange's observation about Athelas being a true football fan. A guy who has followed his team through good times and bad and now following them all over europe (if Xtratime was in a better financial state then they could have subsidisied some of these trips to ease the pain on the financial cost of being such a dedicated fan )
Thanks everybody Orange's proposition was quite a surprise for myself as well, but of course I couldnt refuse that honour
Honestly, I'll try my best to contribute to this forum and maybe post a bit more often than lately. I'm also confident that we can attract even more poeple in the future and make that forum more attractive for everyone. I'll try my best to write as neutrally as possible, especially considering "tricky" subjects (from as Basel point of view) like Grashoppers Zürich or the Espenmoos stadium...
Congratulation to you, Athelas. (I think the ones above me already summed up all the praise, so I won't repeat it again )

Basel is about to take over everything. I mean: Champions League qualification is okay, but having a FM @ Xtratime, THAT's class!
. You really are one funny guy redblue (based on not just this comment but several "classics" i have seen from you already).
Unfortunately unlike CL qualfication, becoming a moderator (or Forum manager as the title is now referred to) doesn't result in the same type of financial rewards or media acclaim so i guess most people do it for the love of it (and a few just to get the title and an ego
BTW: can't wait for you signature to be updated (hehe Sputniks , posthitters etc....). Thought anything up yet for the imminent victory over Celtic back in a real stadium?
Back to the topic at hand and speaking of forums and attracting more people, i noticed that the fcbforum has changed format and is now utilising vBulletin technology (as this forum does and has done since Internet time began i guess ). I guess it makes the forum easier to read (well i still can't "read it" apart from about 1% of topics but what i mean is that the layout is much nicer and easier to follow
I really like the new layout of the FCB forum, unfortunately the content has been rather poor in the last few weeks... The current discussion there is reduced to the questions "who is the better fan", "who is a *real* fan" and "who is a "fashion" fan" (a fan only because its fashionable to be an FCB fan atm). Its really stupid, you can believe me. The "hardcore" fans think they are the only "real" fans and everyone else is crap. Some of the other fans want to banish the "hardcore" fans for lighting flares and smoke bombs... It's all about pissing on each other, I rarely post there atm cause it's just not worth to waste your time with that. It's all because of the stupid smoke incident in the match against Spartak. A popular ultra oriented fan club (the "infernos") were accused to be responsible, and the club even threatened to ban the whole fanclub from the stadium if they dont announce the responsibles. But the problem is that this fan club is probably the most active supporting the club in every match all over Europe, so it would be a huge loss for the fan culture to ban them.
I read today in the newspaper that they finally seem to have found the responsibles, so I hope the whole situation will calm down now. I hope the fcb-forum standard will raise again now...

. MxPx certainly does . The higher management just love him (even if he made a constuctive comment the other day which of course was not acknowledged by the CMs and admin)
Seriously i think Athelas is here from a purely football POV and i think his comments on the current state of the FCB forum indicate that he is not interested in forum politics on forum conflicts. Of course if you want more people to know you on these boards and also to perhaps use it is an advertisement for the Swiss forum then you can make a "hello" topic there to introduce yourself and never visit that forum again.
Of course me and a guy called Psycho had some fun about that a while back when we made welcome topics despite being FM's for several months as a kind of fun poking gesture at all these new FMs that were making welcome topics but 99.9% of FMs will welcome you to that forum and the world of forum management. You can always get me to make the topic for you if you want
Of course if you don't want to then that is fine. There is certainly no obligation to do so and its not like every FM has made a topic to welcome themselves to the FM forum
