I thought I'd start a thread about all the sports we loveto hate, so just add on to it if you want to have your say.
Cricket Man, where do I start. It takes 5 bloody days, they wear sweaters and pants for God's sake and the crowd needs a streaker to generate some excitement. We here in NZ are force fed this every summer which means missing out on daytime TV soaps
Sure there's some skills involved, but its mostly standing around eating your sandwiches all the while pretending you're a sportsman.
Ero rating 2/10
Netball Women only, and ugly ones at that. This is alittle like basketball, but all skills are removed by the fact that you cannot dribble the ball, cannot block shots and the whistle goes every 10 seconds for no appearent reason. They can only muster 19 countries to compete for their world cup, and this crap gets unbelievable attention on TV.
Ero rating 1.5/10
Rugby They go nuts for it here, but fans of sports where emphasys is on skill rather than brute strength fail to see the beauty of it. There is little passing, no slick moves to admire, the scrums are a little dirty what with people pushing their heads in teammates asses and Samoa is a superpower (this only highlights the international nature of the game)
A variant of it is league, I fail to see the difference. There's a lot of competition though, but usually the huge guy with no neck or ears is the best
Ero rating 3/10
Idiotic new olympic sports What's the deal with ballroom dacing being an Olympic event? I have no idea. Sure you could find more..
Now some would look upon this and say "Ero is a complete moron because he just doesn't get these sports etc. etc.", but as an outsider looking in, these are just plain boring and the fact that they get media coverage you'd expect to be reserved for royalty really ticks me off.
I'm sure some have more to add, please do. Others may have a gripe about my selections (I have more ), please feel free to set me straight.

i dont normally like cricket, but the one day stuff is really exciting, if India or Pakistan are playing England - or especially if they are playing one another! The atmosphere really adds alot and creates a sporting event that i could watch happily
A sport i dont like is American Football....its soo boring! I never liked it previously but when the world league was set up i thought i'd give it a try so went along to see the Scottish Claymores and i've never been more bored at a sporting event. If you can call it a sporting event that is - only about 3 players on each team are athletes the rest are just big sumo's without the skill of sumo's!
And i cant stand some fans attitude who think that American football is more important than football, because they like hit each other and is therefore a 'tough' game and a 'mans' game....yeah right! its more a extended commercial break and opportunity to eat hot dogs than it is a sport!

I actually have come to really like rugby, especially the way england wales and the brits in general play it with their quick passing and furious pace, sometimes it can get a bit tedious but overall I can sit down and watch it...but having said that I dont think i could handle it being the number 1 TV sport like it is over on ure patch
rugby league, I cant stand that sh!t game, its an absolute shocker to watch.
I like netball but only when the only 2 decent sides in the world play australia and NZ thats where u can appreciate the skill thats involved.
I cant stand basketball, and the only sport even more boring than that is baseball. 2 sports I wont give the time of day.
Cant really say I hate any other sports but maybe something will come to me.
Oh and I disagree abt cricket and gridiron, I find both these sports thoroughly enjoyable, the only gripe I have with gridiron is this ridiculous 'world champion' tag they put on themselves, actually the yanks place that title on all their DOMESTIC sport champions now that sh!ts me
Put your wrist under strong, white light. Look for the green vein. Remember the colour, it’s green. It protrudes quite visibly. Then take the sharpest knife in the kitchen and make a clean slit. That should do it. - Max Cohen
I am a sports freek ... I really can't think of a sport I hate ... unless if it is sth that is actually not a sport - like "the world strongest man" or "Tractor pulling" and all these crazy stuff they have stms on TV ...
I happen not to like baseball and american football but now after all these months in NYC I am a huge baseball fan and though I still think the American football is very artificial thing I wantched the last year's play offs and I have to admit - it was very thrilling ...
Probably I don't like the synchronize swimming

Wow....
I'm not big on baseball....
Water Polo kills me...a whistle every second...
I hate Ice Dancing...what is the point???
Two man luge...two guys lying on top of each other going 80 miles per hour down a sheet of ice...I can just picture the guy on top saying.."Is that a roll of quarters you have in your pants or are you just happy to see me."
The whole anti-cricket gripe would be more of a misunderstanding thing - similarly with the general overseas attitude to Aussie Rules.
I spent a good 20 minutes trying to explain the LBW-law to a Canadian once ... seriously, it was torture ... I'd liken it to trying to teach a newborn how to sing the national anthem - it was impossible.
"They picked on the wrong man - and the wrong country. It was like pouring petrol onto a fire as far as I was concerned.
There's an old saying that the dog that barks loudest never bites. They did a lot of barking but we bit them pretty hard. Uruguay's attitude just showed how scared they were of us - it was their last resort."
Do you actually like anything apart from Football/Soccer Ero?
Or is this some sort of protest against NZ (and Australia i guess as well since if i recall you used to live/study here) because Football is not the dominant code in these countries and despised in some areas of the media?
As for me, i like most sports and am too tired to bother listing those i don't cause i like to give reasons to support my statements
Being a "sportaholic" is a lot of dun, but also has its drawbacks

Ofcourse I have reasons to support my statements as does everyone here, but no-one has challanged my opinion yet, so saying a sport it boring will suffice.
And ofcourse I like other sports, but sports with oblong balls instead of round ones don't appeal to me.
I do like basketball, handball, waterpolo, tennis and don't mind a bunch of sports...
the thread was intended for some light discussion, we've acheived that, so why suggest I'm protesting against NZ or Australia or whatever?
Bottom line, they play minority sports in this neck of the woods and call footballers faggots etc, I don't condone this at all. R u saying you agree with them Andreas?
ps. I hate Aussie rules also..
