The Spring season

In other leagues this would mean a resumption in the league, but in the current format, it results in the autumn 12 team Nationalliga format being split into 8 top teams progressing to the championship round, and the bottom 4 joining the top 4 from Nationalliga B in a promotion/relegation series

So in summary it is kind of a resumption (rather than a whole new season), but in a different format

Anyway here are the fixtures for the first round of the spring season (starts on Sataurday 23rd February

23/02
St Gallen v Grasshoppers 15:45
24/02
Lugano v Basel 13:30
Young Boys v Sion 13:30
FC Zurich v Servette FC 15:15

The Nationalliga A table finished like this

P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Basel 22 13 4 5 52 37 15 43
2 Lugano 22 11 5 6 39 33 6 38
3 Grasshoppers 22 11 4 7 50 33 17 37
4 St Gallen 22 9 8 5 38 32 6 35
5 Servette FC 22 9 7 6 36 29 7 34
6 Sion 22 10 3 9 40 29 11 33
7 Young Boys 22 8 7 7 35 28 7 31
8 FC Zurich 22 7 9 6 24 27 -3 30
----------------------------
9 Aarau 22 7 6 9 28 25 3 27
10 Neuchatel Xamax 22 6 7 9 28 36 -8 25
11 Lausanne-Sports 22 4 4 14 24 49 -25 16
12 Luzern 22 3 4 15 23 59 -36 13

------------------------------------------------

And here is the Nationalliga format (important info as it has implications on promotion/relegation)

1. Wil 22 12 5 5 53 - 32 41
2. Winterthur 22 12 3 7 48 - 48 39
3. Thun 22 11 5 6 42 - 32 38
4. Delemont 22 11 5 6 33 - 26 38
-------------------------------------------------------
5. Yverdon 22 10 5 7 37 - 31 35
6. Carouge 22 8 7 7 27 - 26 31
7. Kriens 22 9 3 10 28 - 30 30
8. Bellinzona 22 7 4 11 26 - 33 25
9. Baden 22 5 9 8 40 - 37 24
10. Locarno 22 6 5 11 28 - 34 23
11. Vaduz 22 5 7 10 34 - 43 22
12. Concordia 22 5 4 13 34 - 58 19

So here is how the tables line up taking into account the promotion/relegation issue

Championship group

P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Basel 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 22
2 Lugano 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 19

7 Young Boys 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 16
8 FC Zurich 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 15

and the Promotion/Relegation group
P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Aarau 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
2 Neuchatel Xamax 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
3 Lausanne-Sports 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
4 Luzern 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
5. Wil* 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

7. Thun* 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
8. Delemont* 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

I'm really looking forward to the resumption of the league and therefore, feel free to discuss anything relating to the league :hopefull:

Well you forget something Andreas...the teams in the top league start with half the points they had in the autumn part of the season

With the lead they have already, Basel should take it home quite easily..... Will be nice to see the Swiss league start again

yes i did remember this, but i was unsure about how it worked, or to be more specific, how to put in in a league table

I guess i just leave the table as is EXCEPT divide their current points by 2

Thanks for the help

BTW, i liked "that" audio clip

I also believe in Basel winning the league, but no way easy. My GC will once again be the team to beat.
And don't underestimate Lugano!

Thanks for the fixtures MxPx. I did find them in some of the Swiss newspapers, so i'll know where to look from now on

Viola, i thought it would be best if we made a seperate thread for each prediction round as this thread would end up becoming cluttered and having new threads for each round would make it easier for New players to join.

Also, i thought we were playing the 1-X-2 system. We can predict "scores" if that is what everyone would prefer , but then there would be no need for a tiebreaker. The winner would be the person with the most correct results and best predicted scores

These results are of no use for GC obviously, who are losing ground again...(not that I'd care...)

St. Gallen are playing FC Sion in their home ground on Sunday. Sion supporters are renowned for their great home support, while FCSG supporters' best away support usually is in Sion, too...

NLA (Finalrunde) - Table

1. Basel 2 2 0 0 6:2 28 (22)
2. Servette 2 2 0 0 3:0 23 (17)
3. St. Gallen 2 1 1 0 4:2 22 (18)
4. Grasshoppers 2 0 2 0 3:3 21 (19)
5. Young Boys 2 1 1 0 5:1 20 (16)
6. Lugano 2 0 0 2 2:6 19 (19)
7. Sion 2 0 0 2 0:6 17 (17)
8. Zürich 2 0 0 2 0:3 15 (15)

No surprise with Basel still out in front and looking in great shape. No surprise that Servette have moved into second after their great UEFA cup run. St Gallen and Young Boys also seem to be showing good form (the latter has carried this over from the winter break friendlies), but Grasshoppers are again disappointing and underachiving so far (and negative if their continued reliance on a 4-5-1 is anything to go by). Lugano have also been disappointing so far with 2 losses in a row (although they have played the top 2 teams)

........
NLA/NLB

1. Thun 2 2 0 0 6:3 6
2. Wil 2 2 0 0 4:1 6
3. Xamax 2 1 1 0 4:2 4
4. Delémont 2 1 0 1 4:2 3
------------------------------
5. Aarau 2 1 0 1 3:3 3
6. Lausanne 2 0 1 1 1:5 1
7. Luzern 2 0 0 2 3:6 0
8. Winterthur 2 0 0 2 1:4 0

Amazingly, Xamax is the only side from NLA to be in the top 4 (a promotion position). Still early days though with only 2 rounds played
.....

NLB:

1. Yverdon 2 2 0 0 9:3 24 (18)*
2. Locarno 2 2 0 0 7:3 18 (12)
3. Kriens 2 1 0 1 5:2 18 (15)
4. Bellinzona 2 1 1 0 3:2 17 (13)
5. E. Carouge 2 0 1 1 1:5 17 (16)
6. Concordia 2 1 0 1 3:3 13 (10)
---------------------------------------
7. Baden 2 0 0 2 3:7 12 (12)
8. Vaduz 2 0 0 2 3:9 11 (11)

No surprise that Yverdon are leading here (as they should be), but things are not looking good so far for the little battlers from Lichtenstein, Vaduz who are looking very shaky at the back
