Dec 12:Butterbean headlines fight card

-- Caesars Indiana, that is !!!

Promoter Leslie Bonano, in association with local promoter Ron Kern, will present a sensational fight card on Wednesday, December 12, 2001, in the Colosseum at Caesars Indiana in Bridgeport, Indiana, a fifteen minute drive
from Louisville, Kentucky.

MAIN EVENT - 10 ROUNDS, HEAVYWEIGHTS
BUTTERBEAN VS KEVIN "The Rage" TALLON
61-2-3, 47 KOs, Jasper, Al. 9-8, 4 KOs, Lawrenceburg, Indiana

Butterbean is known as "The "King of the Four-Rounders." With a down-to-earth personality, an easy affinity with his fans, and a take-no-prisoners style in the ring, Butterbean is extremely popular wherever he goes - he packs fans into the arenas and every fight is a wild, free-swinging brawl. Unlike most fighters, Butterbean mingles with the crowd before and after his fights, shaking hands and signing autographs. He said, "I love the fans! Boxing fans want to see exciting fights and they want to see action. They know when they come to see me fight, no matter what else, they're going to see a fight." He has appeared on fight cards with some of the biggest names in boxing and gotten more attention and publicity than the main-event fighters. His popularity has transcended boxing, and he has become something of an American folk hero.

Eric Esch got married at the age of 18 and took a job at Pizza Hut. At six-feet tall, by the time he was 25 years old he weighed over 400 pounds and had a 58-inch waist. He was encouraged by his co-workers to lose weight so he could compete in a local Toughman Competition, and someone told him a great way to lose weight was to limit his diet to butterbeans and chicken. A few weeks later, weighing a slimmed-down 400 pounds with a 44-inch waist, Eric got in the ring and won four fights in a three-hour period. His co-workers began to chant, "Butterbean! Butterbean!," and the rest is history. "Plus," he said, smiling from the memory, "I got $1,000."

Kevin "The Rage" Tallon of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, is a boxer with an aggressive style and lots of determination. Like Butterbean, Kevin had no amateur boxing experience, but is a product of Toughman contests - he fought many times on the weekly events in Cincinnati. He will rely on skills and speed to offset Butterbean's straight-ahead style. Tallon is a 6 ½-year professional veteran.
