Mobile Xtratime (Tapatalk)

Dear Xtratimers,

We are happy to announce the installation of a mobile plugin to the forum, which in short means if you own an iPhone (iPad, iPod), Android (phone or tablet) or Blackberry phone, you can now access the forum on the move using the Tapatalk application.

To access the forum you will need to install the Tapatalk, which will cost you roughly $3, and then from the application simply search for 'Xtratime' to find the forum.

From the application, you will be able to browse the forums, post replies and access your private messages seamlessly, while loading times will be significantly faster than loading the full website through your mobile phone's browser (the pages fetched will be highly compressed). The display is also optimised for the smaller sized screen of your mobile device.

For Windows Phone 7 users, there is a different application which can be used to access the forum which you can find here - http://www.board-express.com/board-e...-for-tapatalk/

You guys seriously couldn't just create your own mobile compatible version? Such as m.xtratime.org..... I would do it if I had time and I'm sure we have a lot of people on here that know about HTML and mobile apps.

A quick screenshot guide to finding Xtratime in your first use of the application.

1 - Open the application.

2 - Hit search and then type in Xtratime.

3 - Select XT.

4 - Hit OK.

5 - Enjoy the forums.

6 - Post in this thread.

P.S - screens will differ slightly for Blackberry and iPhone.

No, we have been relying on VS to do this for us for over a year now but it keeps falling through. We don't have the access levels required to even attempt to do it, so this was the easiest option to just get the thing up and running.

In future if we can create our own Tapatalk application though, this may be ideal.

Loco - open the application, hit the menu button and go into settings. Then find the option 'Tapatalk Signature' and select 'none'.

YT - xda is using the exact same platform, however they have a customised application, which is something that needs to be purchased separately from the Tapatalk team (and is fairly expensive).

doesn't support Symbian ?

WP7 ?!

seems like a lot of steps to post on a forum.

I have the Opera web browser for mobile phones installed on my phone and it works fine. the display gets adjusted automatically etc.

Edited the first post to add that in.

And it's not a lot of steps, it's just how to find the forum the first time. Once found it will be in your favourites, so all you do is open the app and hit favourites then 'Xtratime'.

P.S - there is also a Symbian client, not sure on compatibility though.

Love the app, I've been using it for other forums for a while now. Definitely makes things easier to read and cuts down on loading time etc. $3 is worth it if you browse the forum a lot.

And for those worried about an increase in "txt talk" and all that, well most people with Androids and iPhones don't actually use that since we've got keyboards on our phone now

Is there a way to put a certain sub-forum to appear every time I open the Taptalk, or I have to go through the tree always?

It's really not hard at all, I don't understand why VS just gives some of our members temporary access to program the forum as a mobile version.

There is functionality to add "favourite" sub-forums, maybe you can add the certain sub-forum there then click on the "favourites" tab after you load the forum.

It's only one extra action and saves you navigating the tree structure.
