LOI 2010

Wanted to start this thread already for a while but nothing is really clear to me yet... but I believe neither to the FAI...

There are some main issues though:
- Derry City have been thrown out the league for operating dual contracts with players, ie non declaring of wages, there may be a newly formed club from Derry operating in either the first division or A league but nothing confirmed yet as far as I know. They're hoping to join the First Division and made an application I believe.
- Cork City are still in massive financial problems and haven't received a license for 2010 as far as I know.
- Kildare City from the First division have been gone into liquidation and don't exist anymore.

It's unclear which clubs will form the Premier- and First Division and A Championship next season, but it seems it will be like this...

Premier Division
- Derry City won't play in the premier division and are relegated, they'll be replaced by UCD, the First Division champions.
- Bray Wanderers have lost the playoff from Sporting Fingal which means they'll go up.
That means the Premier Division probably will be formed by the following teams
- Bohemians (Dublin)
- Shamrock Rovers (Dublin)
- Cork City if they get a license
- Dundalk
- Sligo Rovers
- St. Patrick's Athletic (Dublin)
- Galway United
- Drogheda United
- UCD (Dublin)
- Sporting Fingal (Santry/Dublin)

First Division
- Derry City and Bray are relegated, Derry applied for a license for this division, if they get one they'll restart here next season.
- Shamrock Rovers reserves and Salthill Devon won the two A Championships, Shamrock Rovers won the overall playoff but as reserve teams can't promote Salthill Devon took Kildare County's place. However also they need to get a license.
So far the First Division will be formed by the following teams.
- Bray Wanderers
- Derry City if they get a license
- Shelbourne (Dublin)
- Waterford United
- Monaghan United
- Wexford Youths
- Limerick
- Finn Harps (Ballybofey)
- Longford Town
- Athlone Town
- Mervue United (Galway)
- Salthill Devon (Salthill/Galway) if they get a license

That would mean two teams from Galway, while Galway United play in the Premier Division, Galway United and Mervue United both use Terryland Park as their home ground and also Salthill Devon probably will have to use that venue. Don't know if it's possible, three teams playing at one ground, Salthill could use their clubhouse ground too, here some pictures of that venue --> http://www.salthilldevon.ie/dromphotos.asp would that be good enough for league football?

A Championship
Finally, the 3rd level of Irish football, no part of the LOI, but not less important, I'm not sure but I think the next teams will take part here next season.
- Non reserve teams: Castlebar Celtic, Cobh Ramblers, FC Carlow, Tralee Dynamos and Tullamore Town.
- Reserve teams from: Drogheda Utd, Finn Harps, Derry City (?), Dundalk, Sligo Rovers, Galway Utd, Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians, Bray Wanderers, Sporting Fingal, Cork City (?) & St. Pat's Athletic.

The license deadline was last week friday so let's hope there will be more information soon.
Fixtures should be released somewhere in February usually...

Then you know more than me, thought reserve teams weren't allowed to play in the Premier or First Division, but I can see it happen. Also I don't know when things will be clear, it's really like a mess right now while pre-season friendlies have already started...

Quote:
Please note that these fixtures may change pending the decision of the Independent Club Licensing Committee and the outcome of a High Court case involving Cork City, which is due for mention on Monday, February 22nd.

The committee also considered the application from Friends of the Rebel Army Society (FORAS) and agreed to grant a First Division Licence for the 2010 season.
Does this mean Cork City have died and FORAS got a First Division licence?

I guess FORAS goes on as Cork City in the First Division?

Also wonder what will happen now, who's going to fill in that last spot in the Premier Division?

Bohs and, quite surprisingly, St Pat's won the Dublin derbies. Because of Bohs and St Pat's won this weekend as well they're topping the table. Dundalk has beaten Shamrock Rovers and they're following on two points, the Hoops totally missed their start with one point out of three games.
Bray, as expected, haven't won a game yet.

Premier Division
Round 3
Bray Wanderers - Sporting Fingal 1-3
Drogheda United - Bohemian FC 2-4
St. Patrick's Athletic - UCD 3-0
Sligo Rovers - Galway United 1-0
Shamrock Rovers - Dundalk 0-2

In the First Division Waterford are the only team left with a 100% record so far after beating Derry at home. Salthill are still without points.

First Division
Round 3
Mervue United - Wexford Youths 0-1
Limerick - Longford Town 2-0
Waterford - Derry City 1-0
Monaghan - Finn Harps 0-1
Shelbourne - Salthill Devon 3-0
Athlone Town - Cork City/FORAS 1-1

Unfortunately I keep on forgetting to post the results but here the standings right now...

1. Dundalk 14 - 25
2. Shamrock Rovers 14 - 25
3. St. Patrick's Athletic 13 - 24
4. Sporting Fingal 13 - 21
5. Bohemian FC 13 - 21
6. U.C.D. 13 - 19
7. Galway United 14 - 16
8. Sligo Rovers 12 - 13
9. Drogheda United 13 - 7
10. Bray Wanderers 12 - 4

Good to see Dundalk a the top, would there be a non-Dublin title winner again?

Bray finally seems to go down, although it's very early to talk about it, but last season they just luckily escaped because of Cork and Derry while they were by far the worst team, seems like they haven't improved. Drogheda's position is a bit surprising to me...

The first division

1. Derry City 12 - 29
2. Waterford United 12 - 25
3. Limerick 12 - 22
4. Cork City Foras 12 - 20
5. Shelbourne 12 - 19
6. Monaghan United 12 - 19
7. Athlone Town 11 - 14
8. Finn Harps 12 - 14
9. Longford Town 12 - 13
10. Wexford Youths 12 - 13
11. Mervue United 12 - 6
12. Salthill Devon 11 - 4

Good to see Derry are on their way back, Cork are struggling unfortunately just as Shels, two clubs who actually belong at the highest level. The two Galway teams are bottom.
