Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht

Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, usually known as Anderlecht, is a Belgian football club from the Brussels Capital Region. They are the most successful Belgian football team in European competition (with 5 trophies) as well as in the Jupiler League (28 championship wins). Although they were founded in 1908, they only won their first major trophy after World War II (in 1947). Since then, they have only finished outside the top 5 of the Belgian first division twice, in 1952 and 1973, finishing in sixth place on each occasion. They have been in the first division since 1935-1936.

Colours and badge
Anderlecht colours are purple and white, and the club's home kit is generally white with purple trim, though they did wear a black and purple home kit in the 2005-06 season. In the beginning, purple was the main colour of the shirts. The motto of Anderlecht (Mens sana in corpore sano) is written on its badge as are the three letters SCA referring to the initial name of the club (Sporting Club Anderlechtois). A crown was added in 1933 following the name change to Royal Sporting Club Anderlechtois.

Stadium
R.S.C. Anderlecht play their home matches at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium located within the Parc Astrid in the municipality of Anderlecht. The board of directors is currently considering a move to a bigger stadium that would not necessarily lie in Anderlecht.

Anderlecht has been playing in the Parc Astrid since the building of the Emile Versé Stadium in 1917. The stadium was completely rebuilt in 1983 and it was renamed in honour of the then chairman Constant Vanden Stock.

Supporters
Anderlecht fans are generally considered the most demanding in Belgian football. The club has had the highest average attendance in the Jupiler League for ten years, except in 2002-03 and 2004-05 (when KRC Genk and Club Brugge respectively had higher averages). Anderlecht supporters hail from all over the country and only a minority come from the Brussels Capital Region. Anderlecht counts more then 75 fan clubs, three of which are abroad (one in France, one in Poland and one in Texas (USA)), and 20 of which are in the province of East Flanders.

Triguinho : 'I want to succeed'

RSC Anderlecht have presented their first acquisition for the season 2007-2008 : Luciano De Silva 'Triguinho'. The 28-year old Brazilian (1m78, 70 kg) previously played for the Brazilian team São Caetano and has signed a contract for six months with an option for 2,5 more years with the Belgian champion. Triguinho will play with number 20.

Triguinho is very happy with his transfer. "I know Anderlecht especially through the media", he said during the press conference last Wednesday 16 May 2007. "This is the perfect chance for me to get to know Europe. I want to succeed here." His biggest qualities ? "My speed, man-on-man coverage and I also have a good left foot", says Triguinho.

Dieumerci Mbolani heeft zoals verwacht zijn contract bij Anderlecht niet verlengd. Hij wil volgend seizoen schitteren in het shirt van Standard. Hij tekende er een contract voor vier seizoenen.

De 21-jarige Congolees treurt niet om zijn vertrek, wel om de manier waarop Anderlecht hem de laatste maanden behandelde. Mbokani, die in de slotfase van het seizoen vijf keer scoorde, wil zich nu gaan bewijzen op Sclessin. Hij gelooft rotsvast in zijn kansen. "Ik ga veel spelen bij Standard en veel scoren. Ik ga tonen dat Anderlecht geen gelijk had door niet in mij te geloven. Ik heb veel gescoord bij de invallers, maar kreeg nooit een kans."

In het Anderlecht-kamp reageert men rustig. Manager Van Holsbeeck relativeert de uitspraken van Mbokani: "De enige reden waarom Mbokani vertrekt, is omdat hij bij Standard vaker zal spelen. Het verhaal over het appartement is niet de reden waarom hij vertrekt. Tot dan hadden we veel in hem geïnvesteerd, maar presteerde hij niet. Toen we hem uit zijn appartement gehaald hebben, is hij wakker geworden."

Well, if he wants to play every week, he had to leave Anderlecht. Tchité and Frutos are the numbers 1 & 2 ...

I wonder if he's gonna play at Standard though. De Camargo and Jovanovic aren't less then our strikeforce.

Biglia: 'Grote Europese club op termijn'

Lucas Biglia heeft een sterk debuut seizoen achter de rug. Op Jupiler League TV vertelt hij dat hij nog veel prijzen wil winnen met Anderlecht, maar op termijn ziet hij zichzelf bij een grote Europese club.

Door zijn collega-voetballers werd Lucas Biglia verkozen tot beste Jonge Profvoetballer van het Jaar. Hij haalde het voor Sébastien Pocognoli en Steven Defour. De Argentijn van Anderlecht wordt beloond voor een voortreffelijk debuutseizoen.

"Ik heb een vrij zorgeloos seizoen gekend, zonder al te grote tegenslagen", zegt Biglia op Jupiler League TV. "Natuurlijk zijn er momenten geweest waarop het wel eens minder ging, maar door hard te werken en geen vertrouwen te verliezen, kom ik die altijd gauw te boven."

Een jaar geleden kwam Biglia als nobele onbekende naar ons land. Ondertussen heeft de defensieve middenvelder getoond dat hij speldoorzicht heeft en een fraaie techniek. "Elke voetballer wil natuurlijk hogerop. Op termijn zie ik een grote Europese club wel zitten, maar momenteel zijn mijn gedachten volledig bij Anderlecht. Ik wil hier nog ervaring opdoen en met Anderlecht successen behalen."

Anderlecht is momenteel op zoek naar versterking. Biglia juicht alvast de komst van Triguinho toe. Ook al zijn Argentijnen en Brazilianen niet altijd fans van elkaar. "Dat onze nationale ploegen grote rivalen zijn maakt niets uit. Je speelt samen in een ploeg en de nationaliteiten spelen geen enkele rol."

Biglia isn't only a very good player, he's also a quite smart player. I'm sure he can learn more by playing in the Champions League with Anderlecht then by being a reserve at a big club. He seems to like Belgium. Thanks Frutos, it's you who made Biglia come to a smallclub like Anderlecht.

Well, in todays papers (Nieuwsblad) they say the same. But Anderlecht wouldn't want to pay more then €2.5 million.

We stopped scouting him because Beerschot didn't want to lower their price.

Legear dicht bij nieuwe overeenkomst

Het ziet er naar uit dat Jonathan Legaer ook de komende seizoenen nog voor landskampioen Anderlecht zal voetballen. Hij staat dicht bij een contractverlenging.

Jonathan Legaer moest tot op het einde van het seizoen wachten vooraleer hij veel aan spelen toekwam. Toch kan hij dus allicht zijn contract verlengen bij Anderlecht. De 20-jarige Legear zou dan tot medio 2011 in het Astridpark blijven. Legear zelf zegt dat de deal voor 90% rond is.

Good news that he'll saty some longer as all of our youngsters seem to leave us. Tioté and Lamah do want a transfer as they don't get enough chances in our first squad.

Anderlecht volgt Panamese aanvaller

Anderlecht volgt de in Colombia voetballende Panamees Blas Pérez als goedkoper alternatief voor topschutter François Sterchele, die van zijn club Germinal Beerschot 4,5 miljoen euro zou moeten kosten. Anderlechtmanager Herman Van Holsbeeck heeft op het punt gestaan naar Colombia af te reizen, maar wacht nog even af.

Er zou veel interesse zijn voor de 26-jarige spits, die goed is voor 15 tot 20 goals per seizoen en vice-topschutter van de Zuid-Amerikaanse Copa Libertadores is.

'Blas gaat deze zomer naar Europa', bevestigt zijn manager. 'Maar niet meteen naar een topclub. Hij wil eerste titularis worden bij een meer bescheiden team.' Als Anderlecht hem wil binnenhalen moet het een akkoord bereiken met twee clubs. De speler behoort immers voor 51 procent tot Deportivo Cali en voor 49 procent tot Arabe Unido.

I don't know the lad, so I won't judge him. I don't quite understand why we don't search for an extra striker in the French 2nd division ... We have Raymond Mommens now in our scouting staff, who knows those leagues well. Or why we don't go for Demba Ba. He made quite a good impression after his major injury. After all, we're searching for a back up. Frutos-Tchité will propably stay our numbers 1 & 2.

Besiktas wil Serhat

Anderlecht zoekt nog een oplossing voor Serhat Akin. Hij maakt geen deel uit van de kern van volgend seizoen. De Turkse spits kan mogelijk terugkeren naar zijn vaderland. Besiktas toont alvast interesse.

Besitkas wil Serhat huren. Anderlecht leende de speler ook de afgelopen maanden al uit aan de Duitse tweedeklasser FC Keulen.

Why don't we keep him ... He has everything a good striker needs. He's fast, has technique and can score ...

Lens haakt af voor Tchité

Lens heeft naast Europees voetbal gegrepen in Frankrijk en ziet om financiële redenen af van de diensten van Anderlecht-spits Mémé Tchité. Een andere Noord-Franse club, Lille, heeft de toekomstige Rode Duivel nog wel op het oog. Bij Anderlecht is tot nader order geen bod voor de topschutter binnengekomen.

Luckely ... Hopefully Lille will also leave their ineterest, so he can stay another year at Anderlecht.

Anderlecht heeft zijn oog laten vallen op Atiba Hutchinson (1m87, 72kg), een 24-jarige middenvelder van FC Kopenhagen. Hij heeft de Canadese nationaliteit en is geboren uit ouders uit Trinidad. Voor Canada speelde hij 23 interlands, waarin hij 3 keer scoorde. Hutchinson groeide het voorbije seizoen uit tot de absolute ster van FC Kopenhagen. Hij kan op alle posities op het middenveld spelen, heeft een grote actieradius, veel loopvermogen én hij scoort regelmatig. Hutchinson past perfect in het profiel van de 'box-to-box'-speler die Anderlecht zoekt.

Hutchinson werd veelvuldig gevolgd door Anderlecht en kreeg steeds goede rapporten. Ook VfB Stuttgart, Werder Bremen en AZ hebben hun oog laten vallen op de Canadees. Hij ligt nog tot 2010 onder contract. Deense bronnen maken gewag van een transferbedrag van 5 tot 6 miljoen, maar ingewijden menen dat FC Kopenhagen ook met een flink stuk minder vrede zou nemen.

Anyone who knows him ? I saw him play against Ajax in the Champions League. I have my doubts he's worth the money. I can't imagine a player like him is worth €5 million ...

Doesn't matter really, If Werder or Stuttgart makes a bid, we can't follow

Not that it would be bad for him to play regularly by RSCA instead of warming the bench by a German topclub
