dean ashton NOT returning :-(
I'm really sorry to spam but you have to see this, i just got an alert from deano's own website, he's just put up a new diary page, literally about 5 minutes ago. He says it's rubbish about him returning from injury this week for the reserves and says people have got the wrong idea about his ankle...but, but (this is the reassuring bit...) says he's as desperate as us to keep the Hammers up. Seriously, see what he said. If he doesnt come back i reckon we're going down, what do you think?

Either with or without Ashton, we are going down - it's too late now. Maybe we'll get some more goals, but Ashton won't help us to better defending...

I don't understand all this about missing Ashton anyway, sure he scores goals, but you did pretty well with him before January last season, the whole team has gone this season, one forward won't save you.

Ashton out for season
West Ham have confirmed striker Dean Ashton will not return until next season after undergoing further minor surgery on his injured ankle.
The 23-year-old had an operation on Monday to remove an area of scar tissue emanating from the broken ankle he suffered while training with the England squad in August.
"It will be six weeks before he is back running, and we felt that the timing was right, in order for Dean to make a fresh start with the rest of his team-mates when the squad returns for pre-season training in the summer," head physiotherapist Steve Allen told West Ham's website.
"We look forward to seeing him back to full fitness then."

probably I'd say most potential buyers will want to see if he recovers properly before they spend a big transfer fee.

good point. I guess this has the potential of being one where the player never regains pre-injury form, let's hope not for his sake.

Was looking on KUMB at Dean Ashtons profile and after every game they've got a note/rating for each player. Ashton only had one for this season, from a pre-season game...

Looked lean, mean and dangerous. This could be his year. (8)
Lol, poor lad. Probably would be an established as a starter in the England team if it wasn't for that injury. Anyway how much of a difference do you think it would of made to your season if he had been fit? I think he would of scored enough goals to save you from relegation personally.

I agree with that view. Him holding up a ball, would've given Tevez a better chance to settle in quicker as well, and as they got more confidence, they'd surely have sealed up more points than now. From a cup final to relegation....crazy.

wouldn't mind if he did retire/leave, the guy is eating down our wage bill however when not injured he can be a quality player
