Week 7: Fenerbahçe 3 - 0 Kayserispor
Fenerbahçe pulled off something that his poster never could have expected. After giving up a goal in the final minute of normal time, the Canaries scored a goal in the dying minutes of added time to pull of a win that truly symbolized the spirit of derbies, as the beat out Besiktaş 2-1 to keep themselves within striking distance of leader Galatasaray. After the goal though, there was a scare as Tuncay Şanlı left the game on a stretcher. As far as I know, it is not known if he got injured or if he had the wind knocked out of him by his teammates piling on top of him. Regardless, a win is a win and Fenerbahçe can move on to next week (actually it would be on Saturday) as they take on Kayserispor.
With six weeks gone in the Super League season; both teams from the Kayseri area are shocking many as they occupy the third and fourth places in the league. Kayserispor, the city team, will be making the trip to the Saraçoğlu stadium to play Fenerbahçe. Kayserispor looks to be a strong side, and contain former Fenerbahçe player Samuel Johnson, former Trabzonspor keeper Metin Aktaş. Coach (former Samsunspor and Besiktaş player) Ertuğrul Sağlam has made Kayserispor into one of the top stories of the league so far. Sağlam said on the Kayserispor website that Turkish football fans have up until now only have had one chance to watch us play, against Trabzonspor. However, we will show against Fenerbahçe and everybody what a good team we are. Perhaps Fenerbahçe fans might scoff at that notion, but considering how Kayserispor has played so far, Fenerbahçe might have its hands full.
The canaries will look to keep within striking distance of the leaders Galatasaray. Volkan Demirel showed why he is the number one choice in net as he pulled off perhaps the best performance of his career against Besiktaş. He will certainly have to be in between the posts against Kayserispor this week. The status on Tuncay Şanlı is not known at this point, but if he just had the wind knocked out of him during last weeks game, he should be ready to go for this week. The defense is still lacking in some areas, and perhaps Servet Çetin should be ready for this game, but it looks like he will still have questionable status. The canaries will need his hulking presence in the middle in the defense. Stephen Appiah and Serkan Balcı still have nagging injuries, and perhaps Coach Christoph Daum might want to rest them before the second UEFA Champions League group match against PSV Eindhoven next Wednesday. If the injuries arent that serious, they will most likely play. Perhaps Appiah is more important for this as he has been part of a great defensive midfield threesome that includes Marco Aurelio and Selçuk Şahin. Im still wondering whether Zafer Biryol will debut, he should be on the field within the next few weeks.
The game will be on Saturday. Here are the records: visiting Kayserispor have a record of 4-0-2 (12 pts.) and are in third place, and Fenerbahçe have a record of 4-2-0 (14 pts.) and are in second place. This should be an interesting match up.

Oh yeah i think appiah will not be playing in this match. He needs to be fully healed by psv match. I think we should play with tuncay anelka and nobre together. Or nobre at the first half and then switch him with tuncay at the second half.

They, like Kayseri-Erciyes are severely overachieving, and if it'll take an ass kicking by us to bring them back down to earth, then so be it..
I'd be expecting something along the lines of a 5-0 scoreline, but seeing as we have the PSV game ahead of us, I think it'll be 2-0 with two early(ish) goals, and then we'll just suck the tempo down a little..

In Kayserispor's Turkish cup match last night, Mehmet Topuz (Turkish U-21 international) recieved a red card and will be suspended for the Fener match.

This is Erciyesspor, who changed their name to Kayserispor because they wanted to be associated with the bigger city even though they're actually located in Erciyes. Meanwhile Kayseri-Erciyesspor, who is actually located in Kayseri had to change their name because the team from Erciyes wanted to be know as the team from Kayseri...
That clear it up?

They're both the same crap, run by basically the same people. God I hope at least one of them gets relegated, the way they managed the whole promotion issues was a pure disgrace..

Ohh, another complicated choice after Milan-Fener match. The point is that, our best defender Rashad Sadigov plays at Kayserispor.
Anyway, good luck to Fener and Rashad Sadigov

It will only be a tough match if Fener makes it so. Otherwise I think Kayseri is over rated - we beat this side 7-0 last year...

it's going to be a tough match, currently kayserispor have a decent form with good goal scorers like Gokhan. They got good chemistry and play as a team. In this match I want to see good team play not only individual effort...
the game is in SS and there is no doubt we'll win.... PSV game is the much more important than this

Both are just as important, if we keep dropping points how will we play in the CL next year?

i agree with you.
guys everytime we play a team with a small reputation, our boys seem to have problems because they take them too lightly till the 80th minute always.
Fener has to keep steady improvement in order to achieve their highest potential. The mentality should be....."THERE ARE NO EASY GAMES"

Guys, seriously, don't over rate Kayseri. We're playing Kayserispor, not Trabzonspor..
They're a decent side, but aren't a tough nut to crack like some smaller teams can be (eg, Sivasspor). When they play a weaker team, they'll win, but when they play with the big boys they'll get hammered..
There's two options;
1. We've got our minds on PSV and play the game at a tempo that suits that mentality. We win something like 2-0, and despite a few hairy moments we don't break too much of a sweat..
2. We take the game seriously, runn all over them and win 5-0..

I've missed SSS.....
It wont be an easy game because Kayseri are coming with a big confidence to Istanbul but once we score the first goal.....or even better....once they score against us.....god save them!
My line up:
-----------------Volkan------------------
Serkan-----Önder--------Servet------Ümit
----Aurelio-------Selcuk---------Appiah---
-------------------Alex-------------------
----------Anelka----------Tuncay---------
Fenerbahce büyüklügü

Well if it's a crappy little team then I say we rest some of our more important players for the PSV match. Appiah has had an injury and I think it's best we rest him for this one:
-----------------Volkan------------------
Serkan-----Önder--------Luciano------Ümit
------------------Selcuk-------------------
--------Aurelio------------Kemal-----------
-------------------Alex-------------------
----------Nobre----------Tuncay---------
I wouldn't rush Servet either, I wouldn't put him on untill he 110% fit to play
