Did Mourinho ask Bayern about you?

I don't know. If he had, they would probably have said that Ballack has no talent, but he aint shabby in the air.

Andreas Ottl is the latest new face to grace the Bundesliga in Bayern colours after the 20-year-old came on at half-time for his first senior appearance in Bayern's 5-2 victory over Leverkusen. "I'll never forget these 45 minutes," he told fcbayern.de.

The youngest player in the Munich first-team squad signed professional forms on 1 July after nine years in the club's junior team youth set-up. He benefited from two full terms under legendary reserve boss Hermann Gerland, before realising a childhood dream with his first-ever top-flight appearance. "My job now is to work hard in training and show the boss he can rely on me," the youngster declared.

Interview: Andreas Ottl

fcbayern.de: Hi Andi, you only signed your first professional contract six weeks ago, but you've already made your Bundesliga debut. Did you expect it to come so soon?

Andreas Ottl: "No, it was a real surprise. I've been trying to show the boss in training that I'm capable of surviving in the Bundesliga, so I'm delighted he decided to show faith in me."

fcbayern.de: What can you remember about your first half of Bundesliga football?

Ottl: "I'll never forget these 45 minutes. I really enjoyed myself. I came on when we were 3-1 up, and before long we'd extended our lead to 5-1. Obviously that was a lot easier for me than if the game had been on a knife-edge."

fcbayern.de: What has changed as a result of your first top flight appearance?

Ottl: "Nothing, I don't feel any different. I'll keep on trying to do my best in training every day, not let up, and not get distracted by anything other than football."

fcbayern.de: When did you find out you'd be coming on as a sub?

Ottl: "I went out with the other substitutes for a warm-up towards the end of the first half. As the teams went off at the break, the coach asked me if I was feeling good. Then he told me I'd be coming on."

fcbayern.de: What were Felix Magath's instructions, if any?

Ottl: "He told me just to play my normal game."

fcbayern.de: Were you nervous?

Ottl: "I was for the first few minutes, but after playing the ball a few times I settled down."

fcbayern.de: What was the reaction afterwards?

Ottl: "The other players congratulated me on my first appearance, as did a few friends, but otherwise there wasn't much of a reaction."

fcbayern.de: Have you already hit your personal target for the season?

Ottl: "No. You're always setting your sights higher and higher. I'm on the fringe at the moment. Let's wait and see what happens."

fcbayern.de: Maybe you'll play a role in the German Cup first-round tie this coming Sunday...

Ottl: "Let's wait and see. Obviously I'm hoping to be in the squad. I can't do any more than work hard in training, and show the boss he can rely on me."

fcbayern.de: The very best of luck from all of us!

If Andreas can turn out to be anywhere close to Bayerns four successful reserve team graduates it can only be best for Bayern. :cool
