Fiorentina-Sampdoria: queste le probabili formazioni
08/04/2004
Fiorentina(3-4-1-2): Cejas; Delli Carri, Viali, Savini; Maggio, Maresca, Obodo, Ariatti; Carrus; Fantini, Soncin.
Sampdoria(4-4-2): Antonioli; Zenoni, Castellini, Falcone, Tonetto; Diana, Volpi, Edusei, Doni; Bazzani, Flachi.
Fiorentina seems to play our B-team. Beware of Cobra though
Indeed this match deserves a separate thread. Samp will miss just Palombo and Donadel who are training with the Italian Olympic NT in Fiuggi plus Artipoli injured (ankle sprain). The probable starting lineup will be the one posted by Niko.
Fiorentina will show just two of all the new players, Maresca and Obodo, while Nakata, Ujfalusi and Dainelli will be out (with Riganò). Portillo should play in the second half.
I find fiorentina a repulsive club. Italian football has been dogged by dodgy financial dealings ever sice I can remember, but things got so out of hand that big clubs like fiorentina (and more recently Napoli) went bust.
Fiorentina restarted as fiorenza two years ago in serie C2, following an impressive display of togetherness from florentine football fans. Now they are back in serie A as fiorentina, having taken two years to do what should have taken four at the very least (they went straight from C2 to B because of a ripecaggio and finished 6th in B last year but went up to A anyway because of the increased size of serie A resulting from the afore mentioned ripecaggi the previous year). To add insult to injury, they now seem to be spending money left, right and centre (they had a good chance of getting Chevanton, for example, which was way out of Sampdorias league financially). Where does this money come from?!? And what about the ripescaggio? Why fiorentina and not, say, lucchese? To me Fiorentina prove that Italian football has learned nothing from its wrongdoings and all this talk of cleaning it up is hot air.
Firstly they were called Florentia Viola and secondly they have a rich owner. Rich owners can pay big money, if you wonder why Della Valle bought Viola and not Lucchese, you should ask him and not blame Italian football. But I agree that that whole business last summer was a bit of an embarassment for Italian football and so on. Welcome to XT, by the way!

Lets hope Sampdoria whip them.
First of all welcome, zuenotto
Your first post is not properly "Peace and love" and I do not agree with most of it. Italian football is going through a period of anarchy in which the rules are hardly respected and the top clubs do what they want. Fiorentina had the advantage to went straight from serie C-1 (since they gained the serie C-1 on the pitch) to serie B without struggle, but I would not say that they are a repulsive club. Della Valle bought Fiorentina like Garrone bought Sampdoria. Della Valle wants to spend, Garrone prefers to limits the expenses...
Last but not least here on Xtratime Samp and Fiorentina supporters are friends.
Samp started very dangerous with Flaquinho. Shot by Soncin saved by Antonioli at 21'. Samp showed better technique. At 28' first goal thanks to a overhead kick by Bazzani. At 31' free kick by Doni, Cejas saves but Flaquinho taps in (2-0). At 40' Fantini dangerous but Turci ( wasn't Antonioli the starting goalie? ) blocks him. There is tension on the pitch between Delli Carri and Flaquinho, Delli Carri booked. Later Edusei booked too.
Well, sorry if I started with such an aggressive tone. But I do think that italian football is getting dirtier and not cleaner.....and I find the amount of money being spent by clubs, many of whom have questionalble financial backing, hard to accept. Anyway I promise not to clog this thread with political matters....
