Hemofarm i Vojvodina ubedljivi, Partizan rutinski

U utakmicama 2. kola YUBA lige koje su odigrane u subotu Hemofarm i Vojvodina su ostvarili ubedljive pobede pred svojom publikom, dok je Partizan rutinski savladao Atlas u novobeogradskoj Hali Sportova. Do druge pobede stigli su i košarkaši OKK Beograda koji su u malom beogradskom derbiju bili bolji od Lavova. Najneizvesnije je bilo u Leskovcu, gde je Zdravlje ipak na kraju bilo bolje od Spartaka. Dosta uzbudjenja oèekuje se i u okršaju kraljevaèkih prvoligaša, Sloge i Mašinca koji se igra u nedelju.

"Crno-beli" rutinski do druge pobede

U utakmici 2. kola YUBA lige košarkaši Partizan Mobtela su kao gosti savladali Atlas sa 85:81. Iako bi se na osnovu konaènog rezultata moglo zakljuèiti da je duel aktuelnog šampiona i povratnika u društvo najboljih odluèen u neizvesnoj završnici, “crno-beli” su meè u novobeogradskoj Hali sportova potpuno kontrolisali.




Ambiciozni domaæin je prvu pretnju uputio veæ u uvodnim minutima meèa. Agresivnom odbranom i brzim napadom u kome je prednjaèio bivši košarkaš Zvezde, Radnièkog i FMP-a, Saša Bratiæ, Atlas je posle èetiri minuta igre vodio sa 10:2. Minut odmora koji je zatražio Duško Vujoševiæ rasanio je uspavane igraèe Partizana, medju kojima se kao novi lider sve više nameæe Frederik Haus.

Posle dve njegove trojke “crno-beli” su u 7. minutu stigli do prvog izjednaèenja, a nešto kasnije i do prvog vodjstva (18:17), koje do kraja utakmice nisu ispuštali. Haus je veliku podršku imao u centarskom tandemu Ostojiæ – Peroviæ, za koje ekipa Atlasa nije imala rešenje u fazi napada. Kada su poèetkom druge èetvrtine “crno-beli” prvi put ostvarili dvocifrenu prednost (41:31) izgledalo je da æe se izabranici Mije Kadije brzo predati i dopustiti gostima da u egzibicionoj igri odrade nastavak utakmice.



To se medjutim nije dogodilo, pre svega zahvaljujuæi velikoj borbenosti domaæih košarkaša, medju kojima su se osim veæ pomenutog Bratiæa istakli i kapiten Vuksanoviæ i plejmejker Branislav Ratkovica, mladi reprezentativac naše zemlje. Atlas je do kraja utakmice nekoliko puta prilazio na èetiri poena zaostatka, ali bi po pravilu u tim trenucima “crno-beli” vezali dve dobre odbrane i iz kontranapada ponovo dolazili do sigurnog vodjstva.




Košarkaši Partizana nisu blistali u Novom Beogradu, ali je njihova igra bila dovoljna za sigurnu pobedu. Pored Hausa, Ostojiæa i Peroviæa pohvale zaslužuju i standardno dobri Dušan Kecman kao i Džerald Braun, koji sve sigurnije diriguje igrom “crno-belih”. Veèeras mu je posao bio otežan jer je Vule Avdaloviæ zbog povrede ledja na parketu proveo samo tri minuta.

Na konferenciji za novinare posle utakmice trener Partizana Duško Vujoševiæ èestitao je protivniku na velikoj borbenosti i izneo dosta kritika na raèun svoje ekipe:

- Veèeras smo se predstavili u izdanju koje je moguæe gledati samo pod pilulama. Slaboj igri mog tima i velikom broju grešaka sigurno je doprinela i dobra igra protivnika, posebno u fazi odbrane. Košarkaši Atlasa su pokazali veliki moral, nisu se predavali nijednog trenutka i ja im na tome èestitam. Nadam se da æemo u našem drugom medjusobnom susretu vratiti ljubiteljima košarke sve što smo im veèeras ostali dužni, zakljuèio je Vujoševiæ.

Uprkos porazu trener Atlasa Miodrag Kadija nije bio razoèaran igrom svog tima:

- Mi smo u pojedinim trenucima utakmice odigrali dosta kvalitetno, ali se obistinilo ono što sam uoèi meèa predvidjao. Još uvek nismo u stanju da pružimo dobru igru u kontinuitetu, a jedan od razloga za to je i što sam nedavno preuzeo ekipu. Moji igraèi su ostavili srce na terenu i ja im na tome èestitam. Možda smo mogli bolje da odigramo u trenucima kada smo hvatali prikljuèak, ali ne smemo zaboraviti da je Partizan ipak mnogo kvalitetnija ekipa, a za njihovu prednost pod košem nismo imali odgovor, rekao je Kadija.

Rookie soaks up American culture

Darko Milicic is getting used to American life, with concerts, restaurants and trouble getting his TV to work.

His English is improving, though it's still a little broken in a heavy accent.

He bought a house in Oakland Township about 10 minutes from the Palace, but he said he hasn't made any extravagant purchases since signing an $11-million contract with the Pistons.

"Yeah, great house," Milicic said Thursday. "It's a new area. Not a lot of houses. Just three, four, five houses."

Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft, came to the Pistons this summer from Serbia-Montenegro.

Coach Larry Brown jokes that Milicic's biggest concern is getting his driver's license. Milicic, who turned 18 in June, said he will take driver's training, but for now hitches rides with guard Chauncey Billups to and from practice and the airport. The two have long talks together.

"He asks me about Serbia a lot of times," Milicic said. " 'What would you be doing over there?' And I ask him things about the league. I appreciate it."

Milicic likes his cable television, but "I've had problems with it," he said. "I am trying to watch TV, and I cannot see the channel, and I got to call somebody."

Ask him about food, and Milicic perks up.

"Chicken and beef, chicken and beef." he said of his favorite foods.

His favorite restaurant is Bravo! Cucina Italiana in Rochester Hills, located a few miles from his home. Not surprising, restaurant manager Mike Zahorchak said Milicic orders the chicken griglia, a wood-grilled chicken topped with lemon butter sauce.

A few days ago, "he was in here with a nice-looking young lady for lunch," Zahorchak said. "That was a new one. The staff loves him. He's just a nice guy."

Milicic has been to two concerts -- Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bryan Adams -- though he left the Peppers concert early.

"I go out after two songs," Milicic said. "I like, but it was my first time at concert. . . . I cannot see a lot of the times."

Milicic is 7-feet.

At practice Thursday, he spent time alone at a corner basket. Brown came over and worked with him on his moves and positioning.

"Darko's a deer in headlights," Brown said. "He's 18 years old. He should be a senior in high school. It's going to take some time, but he's going to be really special."

When the Pistons begin the regular season Wednesday against Indiana at the Palace, Milicic probably won't be in the regular rotation. He played 19 minutes in the first exhibition game and has had decreasing minutes ever since. But he said he doesn't mind playing so little.

"I really don't," he said. "Once season starts I try to play really hard to help and help my teammates. I try to play hard and find my place in the team."

Sjajan debi Aleksandra Pavlovica

Ubedljivo najbolji start od svih srpsko-crnogorskih rukija u NBA ligi imao je Aleksandar Pavlovic, doskorasnji igrac Buducnosti.

Dvadesetogodisnji Pavlovic, koga u svetskoj prestonici Mormona svi poznaju po imenu Sasa, na svom debiju proveo je u igri 21 minut i zabelezio 14 poena, i to sve u drugoj cetvrtini. Ekipa Jute napravila je malo iznenadjenje i otvorila sezonu trijumfom nad Portlandom 99:92.

Posebno impresioniran Pavlovicevom igrom bio je Dzeri Sloun, trener Jute, inace jedan od najboljih trenera u ligi, covek ciji je rad svih ovih godina uziman "zdravo za gotovo" zbog prisustva mozda i najboljeg tandema u istoriji kosarke Stokton - Meloun.

Although I didn't see him play, I heard he played quite well, 14points in 14mins is quite good for a rookie coming of the bench in his debut.

milicic is behind too many good 7 footers (Rebraca, Okur and Elden Campbell) and the 2 time defensive player in the year Ben Wallace. I would like to see him play, but if Larry Brown isnt giving him any time, at least he gets to learn the game from 4 very good players.


Radmanovic scored 19 on 8-18 shooting

Jaric, along with his 13pts, added 8 assists and 5 steals

Partizan lost 69-67 to Union Olimpija in the opening match of Euroleague play. Nenad Krstic is injured and the team was led by Ostojic with 25 points.

Dejan Koturovic signed on for 2 months with Euroleague favourites TAU Ceramica.

Blagota Sekulic, who is probably going to be drafted this year in the NBA draft, signed on with AEK Athens and scored 9 points in 10:45 minutes.

Vujanic is tearing up the italian league leading his team in scoring and won his first game for Skipper vs KRKA in euroleague

Bodiroga scored 16 in a 61-59 win over Roma in Euroleague.

Refleks ubedljiv u Belgiji

Vervije - Refleks 64:84 (20:21, 11:16, 20:13, 13:34)

Kosarkasi Refleksa zabelezili su pobedu u ULEB kupu posto su na gostovanju savladali belgijski Vervije sa 20 poena razlike - 64:84.

Belgijanci su zadrzali vodjstvo u prvoj cetvrtini koju su ipak izgubili sa jednim poenom razlike. Refleks je napravio seriju od 8:2 krajem prvog poluvremena, pa je ekipa iz beogradskog predgradja preuzela inicijativu.

U igri nase ekipe doslo je do pada pocetkom drugog poluvremena kada su Belgijanci ponovo preuzeli vodjstvo (45:44). Medjutim, kada je kosevima Zoroskog i Askrabica Refleks zapoceo seriju od 19:2, susret je bio u potpunosti resen. Plejmejker "pantera", Zoroski, prosto je ekslplodirao zabelezivsi 11 poena u poslednjoj cetvrtini, sto je bilo dovoljno za ubedljivu pobedu.

Buducnost iscupala pobedu

Buducnost - Ajfel Tauers 103:100

Podgoricka Buducnost zabelezila je prvu pobedu u ULEB kupu nad ekipom Ajfel Tauersa iz Holandije, ali mnogo teze nego sto se ocekivalo.

Sam pocetak susreta nagovestavao je rezultatsku katastrofu gostiju i, kada se cinilo da ce na teren polako moci da izlaze rezervisti ekipe Miodraga Baletica, doslo je do pada u igri iz kojeg se Buducnost nije oporavila sve do samog kraja susreta.

No doubt this is tough draw. Nations like Italy, Spain and especially Argentina have made it hard for us these past years but then again with a complete team I feel we're able to challenge every single team, including the dream team, at these Olympics.

In other news, last night KK Zvezda made it's comeback in Europe with a home win against Charleroi (89-81 of the top of my head). To me it's clear we miss Freeman and should have never let the guy go, but Sagadin promised a replacement so we'll see.

From the first moment it was visible that the great battle between Ostojic and Blair woul mark the game. Those two were scoring until the middle of the first period, when Partizan led 9-6, but within a minute, the visitors were ahead 11-13 after a first triple by Erdogan Serkan. He triggered a 0-10 Ulker run and team fropm Istanbul led 11-19 after 9 minutes. The quarter ended 14-20 and it seemed that the more-experienced Ulker might have an easy visit with Partizan commiting several turnovers.


Ostojic & Blair
The second period started with two Blair baskets but Ostojic answered with two more. The Partizan center was unstopabble under Ulker's board, and his offensive rebounds gave the home team second chances that turned the scoreboard from 23-28 to 33-30 by the 15th minute. Almost the same margin remained at the half, 37-35, by which time Ostojic had 4 offensive rebounds. Partizan had missed all 4 of its three-point attempts by then, but had held Booker scoreless, though Ulker's bench had outscored that of the hosts 3-11.

Booker woke up in the first minute of the second half, scoring a triple. Maybe Ulker thought that would mark the beginning of a big run: It did, but not for Ulker. Partizan scored the next 14 points of the game and its defense held Ulker scoreless for 6 minutes to take control of the scoreboard at 51-38. Ostojic was the king of the paint again, teenager Kosta Perovic showed his great talent, while Kecman, House and Brown wisely led the play. Blair missed several free throws in the last minute of that period and the score was 57-45 after 30 minutes.

As it began the third period, Ulker also started the fourth, with Haluk Yildirim landing a triple. A minute later he added a layup to pull Ulker within 57-50, but 2 minutes later, Yildirim was fouled out. Two baskets by Booker kept Ulker close at 64-58 but after 37 minutes of play, House connected on Partizan's first and only three-pointer. Maybe it was the shot of the game because Ulker did not managed to get closer than 8 points again until 70-77, in the closing seconds.

hehe, I can't believe Ostojic has become such a force in Europe! Again he was our leader and put up big numbers.. Funny, unlike our "komsije", we weren't mentioned much in the media in the offseason nor were we trying to make blockbuster moves.. We kept the backbone of our team together by re-signing the hardworking and always dangerous House, added a nice, solid and veteran point guard in Brown and kept the core of our team together.. I really think we are better this year than last year, because before we were just a one man team with only Vujanic contributing. Now, we've got ourselves an actual team with players like House, Kecman, Perovic etc. contributing much more and putting up much better numbers. Don't forget we are doing all of this without Krstic, who is coming back in late December!

On the other hand, as I said, our "komsije" made a number of "big" moves which many thought made them stronger than us.. However, two of these moves already backfired, as Freeman and Cambell are no more with Red Star. Jestratijevic hasn't done squat, and was very close to also being released. While Rakocevic is back to his old ball hogging and selfish ways. Let's not forget that their leader from last season, Scoonie Penn, left to Cibona..

All in all, I'd say that actually the difference between two teams is actually much bigger in Partizan's favour than it was last season (this is proven by our results compared to rs's so far)..

Maybe it's too early to pass judgements, however one thing is for sure - Partizan are suprising many people with their play.

Next up are Roma and then Cibona (whom I wil never forgive for what happened in Zagreb a couple of years ago) in Belgrade

Actually it has nothing to do with the fact that it was a RS - PHC match, I just couldn't find any other news about the serbian hockey league as far fetched and out of reach as that name sounds

Another big win for Partizan, 77-63 over Roma in Italy! This gives us a record of 2-1 now in the Euroleague (should be 3-0 actually...unlucky against Olimpija at the end) and just adds to more confidence to this team! Brown led all scorers with 17, Ostojic and House (along with 9 rebs) both scored 15, and Kecman added 13 more. Next up is Cibona!

I'll post a match report and further comments as soon as they are available!

P.S. Eventhough Vujanic is one of my favourite players, I think that we are better with out him and that we play much more like a team now!
