I've been thinking about creating this thread for quite a while now, so here it is. ;) Basically, this is just a thread in which we can talk about everything we see or read in the media. I'm thinking mainly about programs like Studio Voetbal, Voetbal Insite, Voetbal International, Sportweek etc. I see a lot of interesting stuff in the media, and this thread could prove quite handy for us to talk about what we see. :)

cheers Prince! no need to go to that full length though :D but we appreciate it

Gotta agree with some of Waterreus points as there really are quite a few substandard things in the premiership. For example the goalkeeping. Gentenaar is better than guys like Roy Carol or flapper Howard while goalkeepers like Sorenson are imo not much better than Khalid Sinouh. Like in the eredivisie too, the defending in the EPL is often poor too so despite being an EPL fan I got to admit that the quality in Serie A is higher.

Quality wise Serie A might be better, but the EPL is more exciting. But we must not forget that our own lil' league is exciting as well. I enjoy watching HCE to be honest.

I agree, as long as you don't include sides like Bolton or Charlton :yuck:

Same here. I usually can't stand watching Serie A if it doesn't involve any of the top teams. By that I mean Juve, Milan, or Inter. But withour Adriano watching Inter is like watching paint dry
Hehe :D

Wally, don't knock Okocha's boys eh :boxing:

The NOS at least secured the rights for the CL for the upcoming years again yesterday. SBS and of course De Mol was also in the running. So now instead he has brought in Barend&Van Dorp. ;)

Sadder news is that the VRT has lost the rights for the CL to VTM. I think they still have it for next season, but after that not anymore. Perhaps a lot will change still in medialand that it won't matter much, but I always thought it was handy to have two channels showing CL. Especially if it were both different, but interesting games on paper. So that you could switch if one was becoming a bit boring.

Yeah, that last part is bad news indeed. I actually like the Belgian version of a CL night more. Their commentary is a lot more colourful and the highlights of other matches are more or less divided fairly in time, contrary to the NOS. Plus their sides usually do pretty badly and end up going out early which means they show a lot of quality football for the remainder of the season. :D

I'm thinking of getting UPC, don't know if that's a nationwide thing or just here in R'dam though..

You mean digital television? Then you will at get some more channels that can offer live football, like Rai or the German RTL. Damn, long ago we had them too on the cable and we could also watch CL football. For that Voetbalkanaal you have to pay extra.

luckily there's coolstreams and one Jaap Stam whos put Milan ahead :strong:

Kinda like damage limitation so far for Bayern with no Makaay :( although they should have equalized

BTW: amazing to hear Eidur still talk so good Dutch. Eventhough he has been away for so long now already.
True, some players should follow his example. Guys like Maxwell, Pienaar, Leonardo and many others

coming from Iceland and speaking a Germanic language does help though. Also with the Danish players we've had here like Tomasson who more or less spoke perfect Dutch too  but yeah looking at Leonardo whos been here for more than 10 years !! and who's barely comprehensible makes you wonder what he's been up to all that time. IT doesn't have to be perfect but come on.
Same with the other players you mentioned but to a lesser extent.

Is Leonardo already playing over 10 years of football in Holland? I didn't know that.
Maybe some guys who find Dutch really hard to learn may think after a while "Hey, I'm not gonna be here forever anyway, and everyone speaks English, so what's the big deal?"
