This thread is for general chatting about the England senior team. Who is breaking through to the seniors, who is doing well, tactics, the management, the FA etc..

To help start things off, what do you think of England tactics?

A lot of people now associate English football with longball and 4-4-2, when the majority of our history was all about fast all out attack against the opposition. And we won a world cup with 4-3-3 yet somehow this 4-4-2 myth came about as the English way, when thats the system we got destroyed with that was so alien to our all out attack approach. I think Capello has tried to bring that back, we have been scoring for fun for a long time simply because he allowed our players to play football. Sometimes we launch it but its a lot more rare. Now he insists we keep the ball on the ground and pass the ball short and fast which has seen us demolish some teams. I hope we persist with it no matter how we do at the WC and realise we have good players, we can play good football. Rather than past managers and the FA approach of us being the Bolton of international football, hitting above our weight or something. :scared:

I think the media have a reason to be though. England are no more even a top 10 world NT, and can not even go into tournaments expecting to make it out of their group. I mean away to Switzerland today and most are 'expecting' England to lose. That is not even a media thing, but a general feeling from all.

That said England have enough to still get a result here today if they play well.

England's All-Time Competitive Record vs Estonia...?

P2 W2 D0 L0 F6 A0

Those two games were for our ill-fated EURO2008 qualification campaign...

@ Estonia in Tallinn

Estonia 0-3 England

Poom
Jääger, Stepanov, Klavan, Kruglovm
Dmitrijev, Lindpere
Konsa, Vassiljev, Terehhov
Voskoboinikov

Robinson
Brown, King, Terry, Bridge
Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole
Crouch, Owen

Goals: Cole 37, Crouch 54, Owen 62.

It was a landmark game for Michael Owen - his 23rd competitive goal for England meant he passed Gary Lineker's record. Ah... remember every England coach trying to make the Gerrard-Lampard CM partnership work? Good to see Ledley representing our country. King only amassed 21 senior caps for England! There are no survivors from that '07 England team - maybe Andy can confirm, which Estonian faces are still playing from that same team 7 years ago... Jääger, Klavan, Vassiljev?

@ Wembley

England 3-0 Estonia

Robinson
Richards, Campbell, Ferdinand, A.Cole
Wright-Phillips, Gerrard, Barry, J.Cole
Owen, Rooney

Poom
Jääger, Stepanov, Piiroja, Kruglovm
Dmitrijev, Lindpere, Rähn, Klavan
Kink, Saag

Goals: Shaun Wright-Phillips 11, Wayne Rooney 32, Taavi Rähn 33

Remember Micah Richards? Damn, we possessed so many top-class CB's in the 00's: Campbell, Terry, Rio, Adams, King, Woodgate, Carragher to name a few.

Now we have the likes of Gary Cahill, Jags, Chambers, Jones, Smalling and Caulker fighting over the #5 and #6 shirt :err:

lol 3 out of 4 from our defense line will likely be the same as in this 0-3 match in 2007 :D Kruglov on the left (as Kallaste out with red card and Teniste likely not fit), Jääger on the right and Klavan in the centre.

Vassiljev, Dmitrjev and Lindpere still in the squad too...

:musik: I will cheer on Estonia today ;)

The back four must have a combined age of over 140 years :D

Almost get the feeling Barkley is always trying to do too much to try and prove his own hype.

He was better last week against Hull, but yeah that game against Stoke was rubbish.

Jamie Vardy - England international.
