2011/12 end of season review

Probably our first trophyless season since 2005(ignoring charity shield), some really bizarre tactical gaffes from the boss to kill us in most competitions, but in the league even before tonight it was the arrogant, laid back performances after City's loss to Arsenal that tossed the title away.

I don't think the review changes too much whether we had finished 1st or 2nd. Clearly not a vintage United side but curiously better than last season imho and that one went to a CL final and DID end up finishing the league up after a similar April scare.

A lot of young players introduced who will learn from the experience. No Vidic all year and astonishingly we seem to have operated reasonably again despite having no midfield.

Stars and flops of the season? Final grading of Sir Alex for the season?

Did well considering we played the whole season without a midfield.

Im ditching football and starting to play golf. Cant handle this shiit any more. Its been fun supporting my boys in red for some 19 years... its time to hang them up. Not watching football any more, im getting too old to be waking up at 5am to watch the same old boring side with no flair break my heart.

The whole of retarded Australia (who know c0ck all about football) are talking about City. Every nuff-nuff in my annoying as shiit office is trying to rub in how utterly dickless United is. Yet they cant even pronounce 83.4% of the players.

Buy a new team SAF ffs!!!

So I dont have to hear that United lost the title when we weren't good enough to even compete in the first place; get knocked out of CL in the group stages; and embarass ourselves in the useless EL. Or dont... whatever. Too old for this shiit!!

All of you wrote so much nice points so most stuff covered.

i will give example, even strong team like newcastle was so scared of united that it played all defense tactis in HOME game for them. now nobody scared of united and even weak teams like qpr and wigan not scared to attack in OLD TRAFFORD mentality of all people change and they think united is easy match now.

this respect have to come back first.

So rip out 100mill (which United obviously has regardless of debts) and buy Modric, Hazard, and a quality negro defensive midfielder Simples.

We need play makers who can hold possession, create chances, and link up well with our technical forwards and wingers like Rooney and Valencia. We simply have to keep the ball in midfield against other technically good teams, like Bilbao, who ran us over embarrassingly.

Keeping Scholes and Carrick as our only midfield will do alright for a top four finish but aspire to win CL's and Leagues.

Even if United don't win the league this year, this should be seen as an "Okay" season because we pushed Buysuccessthankstoarabsheiks city to the limit.

If there is anything to learn, it's that SAF needs to spend money to bring in a quality defensive midfielder, midfield playmaker and probably another striker to compete with Hernandez.

All in all, Man United have been better than the sum of its parts this season. And despite this not being the most talented team and being injury plagued, they were still on course to win the EPL against what must be said is an all-star team in Man City, if not for the last couple of results which have tripped the team up (losing to Wigan, drawing vs Everton, etc).

What's clear is that the team needs some major reinforcements particularly in midfield. Everyone saw how Scholes' comeback gave United another dimension in the middle of the park, and it's an area which the club really has to spend on.

i will be honest. i never expected to see us, manchester united, finish better than 4th this year based on our midfield. the outlook got worse when vidic and cleverly went down. 1 month ago it looked like we would win the title and no offense but this has been SAF's best managment performance in my lifetime.

we need to get rid of park besides that vote of confidence for SAF. wasn't park in the game in our horrid 6-1 loss to citeh? other than that this was an A grade management job with a team of this caliber. the fact that we are level on points with citeh and miles ahead of teams with better midfields like totenham, arsenal, and the chavs is mind boggling.

lets hope this summer the glazers cough up the cash and allow us the leeway to make our midfield better. or maybe they have an epiphany and sell our team to an owner that wants to win in the premiership and in europe!!

this. But I doubt anything will happen. A few of the dead wood will be sold, but some who also should will be allowed to stay. And some relatively unknown talents will come in.

im just thinking some points

a- in last season united winned 80 points and become champoin. in this season united win 86 points and still 1 game. so how can we say that season is fail. it only mean that city became much improved with all new players.

b- in last season united gone to champoins league till final match and almost winned it. which extra players it have? only vidic who injured this season. now to think is that in 2012-2013 can united do good performance in both champoin league and epl?

or will furgueson only focus in one?

The points do not tell everything, piyali. Ask yourself: How many of these 86 points did we get with poor performances or just solid ones? How many with exciting football? Yes, City have improved, thanks to their Sheik money they could add quality over the past transfer windows. Whereas we have the old guard becoming older (and not being replaced) and some not 100% ready talents.

@vedz: I do not believe this 100 M shit, sorry. Or do you really think the money is there- but we won´t spent it? If there was 100 M available some more players would have to fear for future at the club and be replaced with quality. At the moment nothing indicates that there will be a clear out.....
