It was a good game. Nice and wide open. A point is pretty important to the Xolos. Looking good right now.

Win again for Chivas after Cruijff was contacted.
Luis Garcia playing for their opponents and scoring too with a slide.

Didn't watch the game but checked the box. Chivas goals were via penalty and own goal. Not exactly convincing at least on the score sheet....but I'm sure at this point they will take a win any which way they can.

Also, Xolos beats Tecos 2-0. They are sitting at 5th on the table and looking good for a Liquilla (playoff) spot. I saw this game and Xolos looked solid.

Xolos win 2-0. They assure themselves, mathematically, of staying in the top flight . Next tourney, hopefully, they will be finished with their stadium expansion and we can get tickets. They are solidy sold out for the year.

SDS, how is the U23s looking? I haven't watched yet but it looks like they will be playing Canada in the semis. Win that and they are in. I'll watch tonight but my guess is that Tena plays reserves to save up the team for the Canucks.

Yea Tena went with mostly reserves. Liborio looked pretty good. The Honduras game looked shaky until after the first goal. Pulido is looked nasty though. Good for Cubo on that goal though. He's been getting hit a lot of unwarranted criticism.

Good win by Tijuana at least Tecos also lost. Watched the u23 game against Honduras seem like we have a good project going.
What happen to Fierro?

Fierro is still with Chivas right now. I think he just turned 18 but he's been making some noise with Guadalajara recently. The last I heard, they're talking about him starting instead of Cubo.
Tomorrow's game should be pretty good. Can't sleep on the Canucks.

You guys think Vela, Gio, Jona and possibly Cheech will get called up for the Olympics?

I think Jona for sure because he would be U23. Gio and Cheech are probables but Cheech would be an overage player. I think no for Vela though. We'd have to drop one of the current strikers and I don't see that happening.

I dont know why, but I had been under the impression that Gio and Vela were under the 23 mark, looked just now and they will be 24 next year

Hmm, I actually followed the Primera quite a bit in the late 90s, since most of the coverage of other leagues was rather crap at the time, but there was always some Mexican football to be found on the weekend.
My favorite moment was Cruz Azul winning the title against Leon. If I remember correctly, it went into overtime, Comizzo kicked Hermosillo in the face, Hermosillo converted the penalty, and that gave Cruz Azul the win.
Damn, can't believe that's been nearly 15 years already.

Yea that was a great final that will always be remember by the Comizo kick on Hermosillo.
Also according to ESPN Vela has asked to be included in the Olympic team.

Atlas se salva, Estudiantes Tecos are relegated. First time in 40 years that the state of Jalisco won't have 3 teams in the first division.
They once had 4 teams in primera with Chivas, Atlas, Tecos and Leones negros.
