Season round up
After nine rounds Maccabi Tel Aviv are league leaders with 19 points and only one defeat which was in the derby two weeks ago. In the summer the team was praised of signing in players of great offensive calibre such as Atar, Itzhaki and Medunjanin which generated many expectations. They are delivering at certain point (Itzhaki unfortunately out of the rest of the season), but the main point of the team has been its low record of conceding goals. Only four in 9 games with Pavicevic and Strul making the best pair of the league so far. This is with the absence of Brzilian signing Nivaldo and with bad performances of sidebacks Saban and Ziv. Strauber is also a player to highlight with great performances so far.
Has Maccabi finally got a track and will finally fight for the title after such a long time? Do you guys think the team is meeting expectations and could fight Hapoel Tel Aviv for the title?

Hapoel has been on a hot streak now...will be hard to stop them, even without Shechter...

But I also see Maccabi in a good moment. Maybe in Europe we didn´t manage to reach the Group Stages, but we played well and we are leading the league and keeping stability something we couldn´t do in the last seasons.
And in terms of individualities we have as well players who decide a match in a single moment of brilliance just like Hapoel, but overall we have a better defense and this could make the difference.

After recent poor performances against Hapoel Acco and Kiriat Shmona, some fans of the club began already making some pressure over the players and staff.
Actually something unthinkable in the last years: Some chanted after the Kiriat Shmona game for Nimni to quit his job.

with a squad like theirs, Maccabi has no excuse for losing to Kiryat Shmona...

Yes, we have the best squad in the country together with Hapoel, but our advantage is that we have players in the bench who could change the game and could be starters at any team in our league. Hapoel doesn´t have that many options IMO and that could prove to be an advantage for us at the end.
Kiriat Shmona is proving to be a tough team and it is not by mistake they are currently first place.

Not for the title of course, but they will certainly be a top team this season.

Maccabi just held a training match against Hapoel Rishon Lezion at Kiriat Shalom and won 3-1 goals by Cahlon, Collauti and Medunjanin.
Yossi Mizrahi and Avi Nimni gave opportunity to some players who aren´t having much playing time to start the match cases of Cahlon, Avidor and Solomon and Kapiloto.
Lineup: Guy Solomon; Klemi Saban, Avi Strul, Niso Kapiloto, Yoav Ziv (Roni Gafni 45´); Shiran Yeini, Dor Malul, Harris Medunjanin, Tamir Cahlon (Gal Alberman 62´), Yuval Avidor, Dimitar Rengelov (Roberto Collauti 62´)
