We will go out in penalties
Look at our squad and probable starting line-ups. Who would take penalties in the certain event of penalties to decide a round?
De Rossi, Pirlo, Grosso, nothing else. We will lose this way. Iaquinta will **** up his penalty, Buffon will save none, and back home we go.
This team will maybe go to penalties every round.
**** Italians!

Iaquinta was a good PK taker at Udinese, DI Natale
Anyway we will go out to Brazil in the QF, either losing 1-0 or on penalties.

Nah, we will play African side and get 2 red cards and 1 second yellow with African side eventually scoring the winner:
Scenario: Referee will first send off De Rossi for his reputation in the wc before, no one will therefore doubt the red card. Then Italy goes all defensive and hopes for a lucky break. Grosso goes for a dive but gets sent off instead. Then Italy will be even more defensive with 9 players, the game goes to extra time. Lippi makes his final subs to prepare for penalty shootout. Buffon is doing miracle saves, minutes go, we are 5 minutes away from penalty shootout.
Then the African team striker decides to trick referee with similar dive like Grosso and the ref gives the penalty. Split second you can see the ref little wink towards the African player and Blatter who is in the stands. (Later on we discuss about the video replay option to see why did the ref wink with his eye, was if all fixed? But Blatter says video replays are not part of the game). So the African player steps up, and shoot over.
Italian fans run wild, but wait, the referee decides that the penalty must be taken again. So the African player takes it, this time he aims center and Buffon saves it. But wait, now the referee goes to Buffon, he gives him second yellow, because Buffon didnt jump but stayed on his line. And now a backup gk must come in. But since the final sub is done, Lippi has no other chance then to give gloves to one of his players. DP goes to Lippi and says this is the moment, this is the moment i have been waiting. So he gets the gloves and goes to goal. But DP dives to wrong side and African team has scored the goal/penalty. Italians are furious. The game ends, apparently Lippi also has been sent away for his furious reactions. He is not allowed to comment on the game. DP becomes the most hated player since he dived wrong way, Lippi the most hated manager. Italian NT arrives at Milano airport and they are all taken down. Italian president wants to go to court with FIFA but Blatter gives them permanent ban from any future national tournaments.
Still no video replays.

why on earth didn't you sign him? for as little as 2 million valencia asked, sure he was worth it !
now he's stuck somewhere in cosenza i believe, but surely his carreer could have turned out other way, if la viola took him over.

Italy and losing in PK's are almost synonymous. But if you remember, Lippi did have the players train in PK's before the Germany and France games - one of the few coaches to ever do that - and the result was perfect 5/5. This time Lippi will obviously do the same seeing that it had an effect last time, and as the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Of course, Italy can still lose on penalties, but with Lippi, again, it won't be a near-given.
