OMT- Liverpool vs Manchester City@Anfield- Sat 21/11/09 12:45-Matchday 13
Liverpool will return to action following the international break with a home fixture against Manchester City.
It promises to be an exciting tussle against Mark Hughes' nouveau-riche side, who have not won at Anfield since 2003.
The Reds have collected three points in five of their last six meetings with City in front of the Kop, though the Citizens did claim a point in a 1-1 draw at Anfield in February.
The Blues have drawn each of their last five matches in the Barclays Premier League and were held to a 3-3 deadlock by Burnley at Eastlands last time out.

Gerrard, Johnson, Agger should all be fit. Carragher will be back from suspension so i guess he's guaranteed a start.
Here's what i think Rafa will line up with:-
Reina
Johnson Carra Agger Insua
Kuyt Lucas Masch Babel
Gerrard
N'gog
Not a bad team. Should be good enough to beat City IMO.

Yeah I think it's good enough to beat Man C. 2-1 the red men.

I'm actually feeling pretty confident which isn't good. We always lose or draw when i'm feeling like this
Just realised Insua/Babel v Shaun Wright Phillips? i can see our left side not having the best of days.
What other player can start on the left besides Babel? Dossena?

Agger provides very good cover for Insua. He seems to know Insua's weaknesses better than the others and is able to anticipate where he needs to be to recover for him.
Still like you I'm looking for alternatives to Babel, not because of the defensive side, but because I'd like for us to retain the ball for a change.
I wonder where El Zhar is at fitness wise?

El Zhar is supposed to be fit but i can't see him starting or even on the bench.
I don't believe we have many options on the left other than Babel/Dossena. I hope Aurelio makes a miraculous recovery than we can have him and Insua on the left. Rafa has also said Reira and Yossi have an outside chance of starting but can't see Rafa risking them. Maybe on the bench...

Well he needs to start getting some chances otherwise it was pointless keeping him.

Me too. Let's hope Yossi and Albert sneaked some horse placenta back with them.

Aurelio and Johnson have went find themselves some placenta as well, so no sneaking needed from Yossi and Albert
I don't particularly rate El Zhar but Rafa gave him a new contract so he must rate him some I'd prefer Pacheco to get a look in

I don't rate El Zhar either. But at least he retains possession and if he's in the squad he needs to get chances to either to succeed or fail because time is running out for him, he's 23 now!
Pacheco has always looked lost on the wing, but anyone but Babel for me

A draw sounds about right, City have drawn their last 5 games or more. Liverpool are facing regulation battling form. Let's see if its a blip or if the players really want him out.

The line-up apparently.
Reina, Skrtel, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel, Ngog. Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, El Zhar, Aurelio, Riera, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos.

Wonderful, 2 forced subs already. Babel and Agger hurt. Yossi and Greek on.

So many bad touches and passes.
Kuyt should have done better with that shot.
