Good start for Jong Feyenoord after the winterbreak. With only Acuna and Swerts from the first team, we managed to beat Willem II 3-0 with Harbuzi, Swerts and Jardim all scoring.
Still top of the tree
Other competitions resume later this week.

Hossam usually plays in Jong Feyenoord (our under 23 team). He has only played one game for the full team, coming on as a sub in the game against PSV. Played as a right back
Media says he has difficulties in adapting. Hope to see him for real in the African nations cup where he'll feel more at ease. Will he be in the starting eleven for sure btw? hope so that I could see him
Good luck btw in it

Thanks for the info. At right back ? He never played at this position with Al-Ahly or Egypt. He plays at Sweeper, Stopper, DM and sometimes as on offensive midfielder.
Sadly he isn't a starter, well at least he isn't a SURE starter. He played like 15 minutes in Egypt's last friendly match at home to Burkina Faso.
Thanks for the wishes, we need them

Yeah it's in Dutch but Feyenoords trainer said that Hossam Ghali doesn't understand that he needs to learn to become better. It is as if Hossam thinks he's already better than the rest. The trainer also then says that Hossam would have now go playing time now that Shinji Ono is injured and he should have stayed in Holland instead of going to the Africa Cup since he will never adapt to Dutch football if he continues being absent. The manager is sure Ghali would be 80% better if he attended all training sessions and he wants to emphasize that it'd be better for his development if he chooses more for his club.
Our manager has a point in some way but then again we knew that we were signing a player who was going to be away for the African nations cup (which is his full right).

I Agree that if Ghaly stayed in Holland he would have got a bigger chance to play with Feyenoord. I dunno if you know Nader el-Sayed, Egypt's goalie. He was voted as Africa's best goalkeeper in 98, then he moved to Club Brugge. He used to be a regular there, but he lost his place as a result of call-ups to the NT. The problem with Ghaly's case is that if he opts to stay in Holland, he'll be massacred by the Egyptian media. They'll call him names like traitor etc..
What realy pisses me off is that he wasn't even on the bench against Zimbabwe !!

Is that the goalie who injured himself during a game saying that he had been hit by a projectile from the crowd during an African CL game?
Not even on the bench?! real waste then are the guys ahead of him better then? or is it cos he doesn't get regular football at Feyenoord as I think it'd probably be?

Naah. You are mistaking him for Tunisian goalie Shukry el-Waaer, Esperance player. That happened in the 2000 CAF Champions league final and it's true btw
Well, I guess it's because of the lack of playing time at Feyenoord AND the game plan.Ghaly mainly isn't a ball winner and our coach prefers to use one ball winner with Hazem Emam [more talented than Ghaly, ex-Udinese flop] who plays the role of the playmaker.

Wholesale changes for Egypt then I guess! it's a must win game, isn't it after the loss against Algeria?
Good luck in it! maybe Cameroon will take the foot of the pedal and be overconident after their thrashing in the last game!

Well we're out, despite being one of the teams that played the best football so far in the tournament !
Anyway, Hossam Ghaly played realy well. He played for the full 98 minutes. In the first half, he was playing next to a pure ball winner. His role was similar to that of Andrea Pirlo with Milan. In the second half, he played as the sole defensive midfielder.
I Hope the guys at Feyenoord watched this match. Ghaly was all over Mbami and Djemba-Djemba.

Are they making comebacks from injuries or something ?
Hopefully Ghaly will play with the senior team and prove his worth. But not at Right-back.

Yeah Lurling was coming back from injury as was Swerts I think. Lazovic is only a reserve player though even though we spent 6 million euros for him
Didn't see what you wrote before, I must have been sleepy but thats great news the current "ball winner" we have right now, Alfred Schreuder is as slow as a tortoise and Ghalis young legs would be ideal. Lets hope he manages to convince the trainer by training well our manager can be a bit stubborn though

Lost to jong AZ 0-1 already a few weeks ago but our last fixtures in the compeition have been cancelled cos of poor pitches, weather etc.
We'll play jong PSV in the Amstel cup for kiddies I think if I remember correctly and Ajax are in the other one against someone else.
