First post here :P
Welcome everyone.
hoping for a good forum. :) |
Congrats, Raanan!
Do you have a fav Swiss club? Your signature suggests Grasshopper (GC)....:) |
LOL :D
GC= Gutter Club. my fav Swiss side is Young Boys Bern because of their Israeli footballer (Avi Tikva). :) my Swiss soccer knowledge is very limited and therefore i'd love to hang around here. PS: OSF, i was first!  |
Given that so far I have no real clue about soccer in Switzerland, I might feel free to check out this forum frequently :)
I am already looking forward to the Austria-Switzerland match next spring :D |
Yeah, Tikva. I liked him when he played for GC...:)
|
Wow this is great!! Now I just hope it will be a success :)
|
Congrats guys:)
I almost got the first post in the forum, but Raanan beat me to it:crybaby: My favorite team in the Swiss league is Basel because that is where Murat Yakin, a former Fenerbahce player, and his younger brother Hakan play. HOw good are they? |
Both are Swiss internationals and key players for Basel. Murat is beyond his peak though, imo at least.
|
Really? He is only 27 years old. Did he have a serious injury?
|
I guess its time for a FCB fan to show up here... :)
Murat Yakin is one of the best players currently active in the Swiss football league! He's at his best football age, nothing at all with "beyond his peak". His technical and tactial abilities are way superior to every other defensive player in Switzerland, and I'm sure he would still be a reinforcement for most European top teams.
Of course defensive players never get the same public attention as a spectacular goalgetter like Nunez (GC) or Gimenez (FCB, scoring leader in Siwtzerland), but this doesnt mean they are worse as a football player at all! Im a great fan of Muri (as we call him here in Basel) and I'm proud a person like him, as a player and as a personality, is playing for my club. |
Welcome to the forum Athelas, I hope you will like it here, and post more in the future ;)

Murat Yakin
About Murat Yakin being a reinforcement for many European clubs, I remember him playing for Kaiserslautern not too long ago, and despite his abilities, he seemed to have slight problems with his attitude and motivation, or am I mistaken?
As far as I remember, his spells at European Clubs, be it in Turkey or Germany ended in quarrels... glad to hear that he found his way in Switzerland :) |
I think Murat is a very sensitive player who needs a positive and reinfocing environment to play at his peak level. He never found that in Germany and Turkey. Now he's back in his homeland with his family and his friends around him, with a club and with teammates who respect him as a leader, which has a very positive effect on his motivation and his performance. In fact I think Murat was never better than he is now, and I'm pretty sure he wont chance the club again for a long time cause he realized that himself.
