Anybody know any sites the follow this league. I understand that the season started this past weekend and I am trying to follow it but no sites update anything.
Take a look at some clubs in the second league who have had success in the first in previous years: Cibalia, Vukovar 91', Hrvatski Dragovoljac (my favorite :) ) Segesta Sisak, and GOSK Durbrovnik, one of the original HNL clubs.

Cibalia are the heavy favorites for promotion after a 1-0 victory over Marsonia where they didn't record one shot on goal! Segesta Sisak and Belisce are considered the favorites according to the people back in Croatia.

I know that you have the results and table on sportnet, but I think you allready are aware of that :)

I think the best way to follow these clubs is to find the official page of their cities, and see if they wrote any reports or small notes...

the one on sportnet is from last season, they don't update it much :(

they also read some results on the radio program which broadcasts the first division games but they say them so quickly and only once in the whole program. :D

I hope Hrvataski Dragovoljac can do something in memory of Spajic. :cry:

Not sure that will happen though because they like most clubs are in financial crisis.

Hrvatski Dragovoljac were a great club and they had some great players but in only a few seasons they got some decent results: Robert Prosinecki, Boris Zivkovic, Vlatko Dologna, Frane Petricenvic, Neno Katulic, Marin Lalic and they had good young players. I was very sad when they were relegated, one reason why I liked them so much is because Hrvatski Dragovoljac was the first team I saw play live, at Siget but they lost 3-1, Bjelanovic scored two (it was a few seasons ago) :)

Cibalia: Vinkovci
Dilj: Second team of Vinkovci, less amount of fans than the successful Cibalia
Koprivnica: Second team of Koprivnica, Slaven Belupo play in the first division.
Bjelovar: Bjelovar
Cakovec: I think this should be considered the first team in the city and Medjimurje who are in the second division represent the region rather than the city.

Mosor: Zrnovica, a small town southeast of Split, most Hajduk youth players go to loan there.

Naftas: Ivanic Grad, basically half way between Zagreb and Sisak.
Hrvatski Dragovoljac: Zagreb, third club of the city behind Dinamo and NK Zagreb.
Croatia Sesvete: Sesvete, east of Zagreb.

So after three match Cibalia have been dominating play, first two matches I read were amazing wins and again they crush Vukovar 91' and honestly I don't see any team catching up to them and Cibalia already have won the Sjever :D
In Jug, it will be a tight race, Hrvatski Dragovoljac are playing well and they still have one more game to play (Sesvete game was postponed after the death of Spajic) and they have signed Dragan Vukoja! Sibenik, Pomorac and even Mosor I believe can also take the top spot. Novalja, don't know much about them so I don't know how long they can stay on top.

Also looks like the Hajduk junior players (mostly loaned out to Uskok) are struggling.

Too bad that GOSK isn´t doing little better, i was at Lapad stadium couple of times when i was young, like 14-15 years ago, and watched their home games. Back then, they were a decent team in second division west of the old ex-yu ligue... Were they ever in 1.HNL?

yeah they were one of the "original" teams. They played in the top flight from 1992-1994 (3 seasons) and since then they haven't been up.

Hrvatski Dragovoljac and Croatia Sesvete played their match which was postponed in the first weak. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Nice to see that there are people outside Croatia following our league. Just a few corrections, if you don't mind:
1. Kostrena is not in Istria, it's a little town east of Rijeka and, by the way, officially the richest province in the country.
2. GOSK is not one of the original members of the HNL in 1992, it was NK Dubrovnik which is another club.
Unfortunately domestic football is followed rather poorly on the Internet, hopefully it will get better.

Round five results: Cibalia lose their first match while two draws in a row for Dragovoljac are bad for their hopes of promotion :(

Lets have a look at some players in the 2.HNL who were good/great players in the 1.HNL in past seasons.
Vedran Kukoc (Solin Gradja): played for Sibenik when they were in the top division and came close to signing with Hajduk this season.
Kaja Kalinic (Solin Gradja): In CM he played in the Dutch first division but not sure about real life :D
Igor Koretic (H. Dragovoljac): Was supposed to be a top prospect with Dinamo, well now he is one of the better players with Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
Dragan Vukoja (H. Dragovoljac): Played abroad many seasons and returned to the HNL in the winter break last season and played with Osijek.
Boris Leutar (Cibalia): Played with Dinamo Zagreb a while ago and moved to Cibalia, one of the few players to stay with the club when they were relegated.
Ronald Grnja (Graficar): Played many seasons with Osijek, now he comes off the bench regularly for Graficar.
Marin Lalic (Bjelovar): One of the top scorers in all of the HNL, played for Hrvatski Dragovoljac and Inter Zapresic in recent seasons but has yet to score in the second league.
Tihomir Nosek (Bjelovar): Top scorer at NK Zagreb and Cakovec when they were in the first divisionm now he is ranked third in scoring in the second league.

Dubrovnik is a waterpolo city (current champions of Croatia if i´m not mistaken?) but still, GOSK should be higher on the table. This is an big disappointment, i believe :(

Also, Jasmin Samardzic is with Pomorac and would have probably been a starter at Rijeka this season but had a disagreement with the management and left.

D11, Tomislav Vranjic has only played one match so far this season. Our backup for the U21's is Vidakovic and he is a regular for Marsonia.

Cibalia -6 points??!! that would give them 12 points and they would go down to 6th in the league. They are clearly the best team in the league but they are punished for the transfer of Bartolovic a few seasons ago :eek:
This gives great chances for Koprivnica, Cakovec, Belisce and Marsonia. Note, I do not know if this is 100% true, maybe the other guys know.
