Vierschanzentournee
Anyone who is interested in Ski-jumping on here?
I am, and on monday the "Vierschanzentournee" is gonna start again, the first games shall be in Oberstdorf (29-12), then Garmisch-Partenkirchen (1-1), Innsbruck (4-1) and Bischofshofen (6-1). Favourites for this year are Ahonen, Hannawald, Schmitt, Malysz, Ljoekelsoey and maybe Hautemaeki I think. Only Dutch participant, Oliver Kreuzer, can be happy if he can qualify for only one match. |
Yes, yes, yes!!! :) One of the sports higlights of the year.
You had some Austrian dude jumping for Holland the last few years, but I can't remember his name... As for the favourites: Schmitt - no way in his current form I agree on the rest, maybe add two or three Austrians (Höllwarth, Widhölzl, Goldberger). A huge question mark is Morgenstern, who I would rate as one of the top favourites until his accident, now it will of course depend on how soon (and if) he can find back his form. I'd bet my money on Ahonen. |
i love ski jumping too. hard to say anything because almost no competitions untill now finished regularly for the wheather circumstances. but i think, the norwegians will be awesome this season and i hope my Slovenians can do something.;)
|
I'm another Ski-jumping fanatic here :).
Although I'm Czech I support Fins and Norwegians. My favourites are Peterssen, Ingebrigtsen, Hautamaeki brothers and all others... Btw I would prefer another hills for such an important event. But I know it's about money and also important is to have all places near. |

How do you think about Ljoekelsoey? He's leader in the World Cup if I'm right... And indeed, I forgot Höllwarth ;), and maybe Widhölzl and Goldberger... Who's jumping for Cezch Rep. and Slovenia? Janda for the Czechs and for Slovenia I dunno, is Peterka from Slovenia or Slovakia? |
Peterka is slovenian. For Slovak rep, there is Mesik for ages, very average. Slovenians have Zonta, Fras, Peterka, Kranjec, Benkoviè or Lang and I don't know. Czech team is stronger than last 3 years but it's not a group of Champions. Really good is only Janda but ex-nordic-combination Matura or young Mazoch are ready.

Kranjec had a very good season two years ago and he's actually the one, from whom we may expect good jumps in the future. Zonta seems to be in the best form right now and i hope, he will keep that during the next 10 days.:) Ski jumps have long tradition in Slovenia and we host also the competition in ski flying in Planica - the last competition of the season. |
I love ski jumping. Yea go Australia :P
although i dont any "famous" names i'll try watch it anyway |

1st heat:
Code:
1. Sigurd Pettersen NOR 140,9 133,0 Great jumps from the young guns Morgenstern and Benkovic, I always knew it. ;) And Pettersen looks like the favourite now. |
First 25 jumpers had much better wind conditions so that's why Ljoeklsoey or Ahonen aren't higher.
Pettersen - no comment, true hero :strong:. Ingebrigtsen - He was lucky with the wind because he made a mistake in he air which costed IMO at least 5 meters. But still long enough. Uhrmann - look at his jump again. It was 127 or 127,5 but no 128,5. The power of money. And have you seen replay of Morgenstern, Benkovic and Pettersen jump? Sigurd' was IMO 1 meter longer than Benkovic' but the officials say Benkovic - 133,5 Pettersen - 133 Well, forget and enjoy. NORWAY rules! |
Magnificent Sigurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an unbeliveable flight!!!!!!!! :star: :star: :strong: :strong: :star: :star: :strong: :strong: 143,5 metres and 22,5 pts advantage! (Hill record was 134 from yesterday quali (Sigurd) and today in training 140 by Morg. - unofficial) My god that was a good jump by Sigurd! 1. Pettersen :strong: 2. Morgenstern 3. Höllwarth Not bad Tommy who flied much better in the second round. Norway on their way! |
Code:
1. Sigurd Pettersen NOR 295,2 133,0/143,5 Next is Garmisch in 2 days. |
Ujjj, Pettersen looked even more than great today. too bad, Rok Benkovic couldn't jump as far as in the first try, but good enough.;)
|
Benkovic was lucky with the wind in the first round but no question- he has a future!
Ingebrigtsen back in his world record form? ;) |
What a great last jump from Pettersen !!! :strong:
Can anyone give me more info about Benkovic? Didn't even know him before yesterday to be honest... Should Pettersen be able to continue this form? It was great to see the Norwegian party after Pettersen's jump! |
Benkovic is slovenian supertalent- 17 years old as I know. He had few impressive results last season but especially he was one of the best in summer GP. Wasn't he third? I'm not sure.
Norwegian party- yeah! I liked it. But the best ever was the party of Switzerland after Ammann' jump in Salt Lake City! That really was superb. What a pity that Kranjec is always so low, he's good in the air. The opposite problem has Malysz or Yamada- they're hight enough but can't fly that well. |
