La Gata "Okocha" Fernandez
"El Pocho" Lavezzi
"El hachita" Ludueña
"Chaco" Gimenez
Lisandro
Di Maria
Piatti
Insua (Independiente one, not Pocho)
Lucas Lobos
Zarate (the kiddo)
Lautaro Acosta
Caffa
Maximiliano Moralez
More or less about early early or mid twenties, with up and downs or too young, or apparenbtly more focus on grabbing fast transfers than making better carreers
I've exclude Chelito, Pocho Insua, Montenegro, Romagnoli, Ibagaza...they are oldies by now, with too many vices (some of these last bunch I do not rate at all)...
Saviola, Aimar and Riquelme with different luck, and up and lows, have clearly another level and have silverware to show, plus great seasons
I don't really don't know in what group to put:
D'Alessandro
Santana
Ledesma (Lazio)
Almiron
Is there a chance any of them will take a step forward apart from a current many veru good level, some will gain some consistent level, some real NT weight?...There are so amny other argie players and from the world that are far from the level of skills of many of the names here...que les falta???

La Gata was unreal until his knee injury against Lanus about 2? years ago, never hit the same heights since.
Could have been a world-beater :moan:

What about Matias Delgado of Besiktas? Never seen him play, but have read that he has lots of skills but Besiktas fans feel he is poor in his passing.
And Carruscha of Galatasaray?
And Dario Conca, who plays for Vasco in Brazil.
And Barrientos, who plays for FC Moskva.
Have only read about all these midfielders, but have no clue as to how they play.

Barrientos, Carrusca and Conca can be add to the list...
The thing is that they many listed here are far from bad players, but mainly once you made a bad transfer you are doomed, like maybe Maxi Moralez...
I really hate everybody heading out of Argentina because there is no need for them to be Maradonas, just imagine a high profile mentally stronger Tevez in many teams surrounded by these sort of players, we could have a really beyond entertaining championship...more than actually is.
I recall time ago trying to find some info about that kid Brian Sarmiento and just reading what some fellas in the Racing de Santanbder Forum wrote, well I really hope one day in the future no argie player puts a foot in Europe with an european club t-shirt...
BTW I'm not saying all the mentioned are intrinsecally great players or ever have real potential to struggle with all the obstacles usually a young argie player has to deal with, but mainly that all are very technical...
then some might be dumb players, some lazy, others bad decission making in their transfers...some? the three aspects all together...but undoubetably everyone here, not precisly did the steps to have a more comfortably future like we presume Aguero, Tevez and Messi will have, with also short but very good past...

I put a video of him in an old thread time ago, very skill fella, but hardly consistent...
You really don't recall Carrusca from estudiantes, Barrientos from San Lorenzo and Conca the kid from River that played in Chile?

I seem to remember Caniggia being a pretty good dribbler.

Fangio, u are absolutely right. I really can imagine what u mean when u say there is no need for all these players to leave Argentina to prove themselves, instead they could really make their own league one of the best in the world. Like you say, they all are not Agueros or Riquelmes, but they are talented enough to play around these Agueros to make formidable teams. I can imagine, River with Cavenaghi, D'Alesandro, Masche, Lucho, Higuain all playing together with the current players like Belluschi. How good is that?
Players leaving at such young age and regularly means clubs in Argentina don't have the luxury(like clubs in Europe) to build a team or squad over a period of time, instead they consistently have to find replacements for all these players leaving regularly.
By now, Cavenaghi could've been a superstar footballer had he been at River, instead he has wasted 2 years and Argentina has lost another talent.
Same goes for the Gagos, the Higuains and all other youngsters, who are happy to warm European benches, when they could be playing and improving all the time had they stayed longer in Argentina. 17 and 18 year olds leaving is even more ridiculous.
Money is the main motive, I guess, what else can you say about Zarate and Maxi Morales. Unbeleivable.

How about Santana of Fiorentina? He is a really good dribbler!

I should be added to that list.

Hummy he doesn't belong to the "others", he was top of the crop for the NT, like Houseman, Corbatta, Sivori and many others

I won't bet on superstar status, more because I don't trust that much those notions like world class...but I bet we would have an overall better game, a more sane one in our League.
How about Santana of Fiorentina? He is a really good dribbler!
He is and he is there (watched his last goal against Cagliari I think, golazo de potrero)...thought the "dribblers" notion here is used in a very elastic way, almost more than half our players have dribbling skills, throwing Ibarra and Zanetti to the mix would work too and in fact these two examples dribble better than many forwards....
I was aiming for those with secondary status behind the typical Cannigia, Sivori, Houseman or Aguero or Messi of any era...predominately those that are fond of "gambetear", many seem to have the tolls to be make better carreers BUT...
I should be added to that list.

What about Diego Váleri, he was linked to Inter briefly.
From the vids i saw he looked ok, but we all know videos really tells nothing about a player.
Anyone know anything about him?
Fangio
December 28th, 2007, 18:03
Well videos tell sthg. the problem comes with the one interpretating them...he is a good player Azz, if he can perform at the same level and in a bigger club in the future? remains to be seen...what is certain, is that he has brains beside football, and sometimes this helps a lot when comes to the xtra football to deal in a big transfer.
Inter is making a bet with him, but is a good bet, don't think they are going to pay top money for him; if he succeed he can become an excellent player, if he doesn't you didn't spend that much.
BTW he ain't in this thread because he is still a new player, just recently becoming successfull and really noticed.

I like Lavezzi and Di Maria from this list. I think the former has a VERY big future in the game, and he is already starting to deliver. Whether Di Maria can properly adjust to Portugal and Europe is the big question for him.
Luduena?! What is he up to these days? I thought he was a terrible player at River :D
