I think Albania's best sports after soccer are Boxing and Wrestling. When we win an olympic meda..its definitely gonna be in wrestling.

The woman's volleyball team is also doing well beating both England and Scotland.

3 kosovars are part of Albanian NT now in basket also.... 3 of them from KB Prishtina.
Florian Miftar, Edmond Azemi, and Samir Shaptahovic.
They played in all thre qualifyin matches where Albania lost, Shaptahovic had 22 pts/game in those games.

In Albania there are also some young talented players such as Renaldo Kacorri, Orion Garo, Gerti Shima...than Kotrri, Daliu - both in US.

Samir is albanian  is surnames ends with vic bcz he was born in Montenegro where his family lived.
His father is from Kosova though...

Samir is like 23 yo and the best albanian point guard, short with 178 cm but very good player.
He used to play for Primorje in first serbian league before joinin Prishtina, and he is playin there since 3 years now.
Also part of Albanian NT

He might leave Kosova and sign in first Turkish league...

Tash kjo dmth se Nenkampioni aktual dhe kampioni i shumfisht i Kosoves dote jet ndoshta skuadra me dobet nga kualiteti tek lojtaret pasi qe esht vendosur qe te mos blehen lojtar te huaj dhe gjitha lojtaret pervec junioret jan lojtar re lire.

Its well known that his origine is from Peja, and he plays currently for Prishtina. Ėshtė njė ndėr basketbollistėt mė tė mirė shqiptarė. Agron Ivezaj, 27 vjeēar ėshtė gjigandi shqiptar (212 cm) qė nė karrierėn e tij ka ndėrruar disa skuadra greke tė kategorisė sė parė dhe tė dytė. Madje ai ka prekur edhe arenėn ndėrkombėtare duke u aktivizuar me Peristerin nė Euroleague, qė ėshtė kompeticioni mė i rėndėsishėm i basketbollit nė Evropė. Tani ai kėrkon mė shumė nga vetja pėr tė bėrė realitet ėndrrėn e ēdo basketbollisti.
“Hapat e mi tė parė nė kėtė sport i kam filluar nė ekipin e “Buduēnostit” tė Podgoricės. Isha diku kah mosha 14-15 vjeēare, ku ēdo ditė ushtroja me orė tė tėra. Pėr shkak tė kushteve jo tepėr tė mira, pas pėrfundimit tė ushtrimeve, ose lojės nė Podgoricė ndodhte qė shpesh nga Podgorica deri nė shtėpi, nė Vrane, shkoja kėmbė. Ishte me tė vėrtetė njė punė lodhėse, por dėshira ime dhe pėrkrahja e prindėrve, pėr t’u marrė me sport, ishin mė tė mėdha. Si i ri kisha dėshirė tė luaj futboll, por, meqė trupi im u rrit shumė, u pėrcaktova tė merrem me basketboll. Nuk kam menduar kurrė se do tė arrij aq sa kam arritur”, thotė Ivezaj pėr fillimet e karrierės sė tij, nė njė intervistė dhėnė njė tė pėrjavshmeje shqiptare. Ai falėnderon edhe basketbollistin e njohur shqiptar Gazmend Ēaēi i cili e ka ndihmuar pėr tė bėrė karrierė nė Greqi ku ėshtė aktivizuar me skuadrėn Peristeri, me tė cilėn ka luajtur edhe nė Euroleague

Me njė mesatare prej 10.4 “rebound” pėr ndeshje dhe 9.6 pikėve, Ivezaj ėshtė njė ndėr lojtarėt mė tė mirė tė kategorisė sė dytė greke tė basketbollit. Deri mė tani ėshtė shqiptari i vetėm qė ėshtė futur nė draftin e ligės mė tė fortė nė botė.
“Kam pasur oferta tė shumta pėr tė luajtur pėr ekipe si nga Spanja, Gjermania, Italia, Belgjika etj. Mė kanė ftuar edhe nė Kosovė. Nuk do tė thotė se unė njė ditė nuk do tė luaj pėr ndonjė ekip shqiptar, por momentalisht fati im ėshtė i lidhur me Greqinė. Nė vitin 2003 nė Itali kam pasur njė provė pėr tė vazhduar karrierėn nė NBA, por klubi pėr tė cilin luaja atėherė, Peristeri, nuk ma bėri tė mundshme qė tė shkoj nė NBA. Unė ende i mbaj kontaktet me Milwaukee Bucks. Punoj pėr tė arritur deri nė NBA".

Im not sure if he has played for Greece before, maybe thats the reason. Yesterday I saw an interview in newspapers, Mabetex offered him contract he cant refuse, as thats maybe double of what he earns in Greece. He said that this is one of the best offers he got so far and he will consider it but not this season.
Its goin to be even better if he comes in Kosova, he will be near and shortly could be joining the NT, of course IF he is available.

Handball:
Besa Peje (Kosove) - Bevo Penningen (Netherlands) 28:29

A great atmosphere in "Karagaq" Sporting Centre as Kosova made a international debut where our champion lost from Netherlands champion.
Game was tied most of the time, but the dutch won at the end as they were far more experienced and were focused on the end.
Besa's best players were: Muqolli with 9 goals, Dobroshi with 7 and Trajkovski with 5.

The return match will be played in Netherlands next week.

Here in the US especially in the streets of NY Handball is called another game. :dielaugh:

It's played with a small rubber ball, a little smaller than a tennis ball, and you hit it with your hand against a wall. These walls have been built in many public parks. :dielaugh:

It's sort of like racquetball but you hit the ball here with your hand not with your racquet, and this is mainly played outside in the streets.

Handball is a poorman's racquetball so to say, but it has become much more popular in the streets, and even schools are forming handball teams and compete now. The best handball players go from park to park to play with others, they're known in the city park circles.

The purpose of the game is to hit the ball against a wall with either hand in such a way that the opponent or opponents cannot return the ball back. If the ball bounces before it reaches the wall, the point or serve is forfeited to the opponent. A point is awarded to the server if the receiver misses the ball or the ball bounces before getting to the wall. Points can only be scored by the server. If during the volley the server misses a return, the opponent, rather than gaining a point, becomes the server.

Here's some answers from Ermal Kuqo, that many people blamed after they saw him wearin turkish jersey.

Hi Ermal. I am a great fan of yours and I think that you are the greatest player Albania ever had. Are you happy playing in Europe for Efes Pilsen, and are you going to try the NBA in the future? Good luck in your life and sport.
Daniel Demiri, Albania

"Thank you for the consideration Daniel, although I might not agree with you. Saying that I'm the best that Albania has ever had, is like saying Shaquille O'Neal is better than Wilt Chamberlain or Bill Russell. It is very hard to make a comparison between two players who played in different eras. Let's not forget that Albania has been a politically closed country until late in 1990, and that none of the great players until that time, including my father Robert Kuqo, ever had the chance to play in a foreign club. I am very happy I am playing for Efes Pilsen, and I would only leave Efes to go to the NBA, which has always been my greatest aspiration. The NBA to me is not just a dream anymore; it is a mission. I want to be the first Albanian-born player who goes there, and give a chance to a lot of Albanian youngsters who aspire to become somebody to realize that with hard work and sacrifice, anything is possible."

Hi Ermal. Was it a difficult decision for you to play with the Turkish national team? Do you plan to do so in the future?
Ahmet, Turkey

"Definitely difficult, probably the most difficult decision I have had to make in my adult life. Being the son and nephew of two of the best Albanian players of all time, me being the third Kuqo who plays basketball in my family, and being so proud of being Albanian was always taken for granted that I would of course be wearing the Albanian National team jersey. And I was the first one to say that the number 12 jersey in the national team is mine. But the Albanian Government and basketball federation doesn't really care about being represented well by its athletes or artists in the international arena. It's been a common thing lately for Albanian talents, whether it's sports or art, to be representing other countries in international competition. Just to name a few, Pyrros Dimas (Pirro Dhima) Olympic gold medalist in weight lifting for Greece, Mirela Manjani Olympic medalist in javelin for Greece, Donald Suxho Team USA volleyball, and Ermal Kuqo- Turkey Basketball. This doesn't mean that all these people don't love their country, but Albania doesn't offer any perspective or insurance about the future. But I am proud of being a part of this special Turkish National team; I took my first steps as a professional basketball player in Turkey, and Turkish Basketball Federation has done a lot for me, so the least I could do was to accept Bogdan Tanjevic's invitation to play for Turkey, and will continue to do so with pleasure and pride."

Well it doesnt have 40-50% Albanian players..it has like one or two. But then again even if it did youd have 100% Albanian vs 50% Albanian 50% Slavs...

As for Kosova, who knows how thatll work out. But in that case i wouldnt chose sides either.

I know R&B, but I can't play percentages for albanians against albanians. Ofcourse here would also have to go into account the prejudice against albanians from the government. I'm saying if everything was equal as it should be then I wouldn't pick sides, and that equality is what many albanians are striving for and I guess you have to start with one or two players first and go up. I don't have to like it but that's reality.

Kastioti Ferizaj (Kosovė) - Esch (Luxemburg) 34:36 (I know it was 2 diffrence, not sure was this correct).
So Kastrioti is eliminated in the first round of the Cup, same as champion Besa Famiglia who lost in Holland from Bevo Panningen.
So both our teams that represented Kosova got elimiated in first round. It was pretty much expected since they dont have much experience and cannot be compared with some teams that are takin part for several years in euro cups.
Important is that they left good impression about the organization of the games and fightin spirit, especially Besa who was close to win the first match.

Kosovarėt ia sollėn Shqipėrisė tetė medalje

Tiranė, 13 shtator - Mė 10 dhe 11 shtator nė Tiranė u mbajt Kampionati i dhjetė ballkanik i karatesė pėr kadetė dhe juniorė, nė tė cilin morėn pjesė tetė shtete ballkanike: Shqipėria, Turqia, Greqia, Bullgaria, Rumania, Bosnje dhe Hercegovina, Maqedonia dhe Serbia e Mali i Zi. Ky kampionat ishte i rėndėsishėm pėr Shqipėrinė, ngase kjo ishte hera e parė qė iu besua organizimi i njė gare ndėrkombėtare nė karate, por njėkohėsisht ishte i rėndėsishėm edhe pėr Kosovėn, ngase nė pėrfaqėsuesen e Shqipėrisė morėn pjesė edhe nėntė sportistė kosovarė, kryesisht anėtarė tė klubit tė karatesė "Iliria" nga Prishtina dhe anėtari i klubit tė karatesė "Ippon" nga Peja, Agon Agani, ndėrsa nė mesin e referėve qė ndanė drejtėsinė gjatė tėrė rrjedhės sė kampionatit, ishte edhe referi kosovar, Safet Ramadani.
Gjatė dy ditėve tė garave, garuesit shqiptarė bėnė pėrpjekje maksimale pėr tė arritur rezultate sa mė tė mira, ngase kampionati ballkanik ėshtė garė qė organizohet nga Federata Botėrore e Karatesė, federates sė vetme ndėrkombėtare qė e njeh zyrtarisht Komiteti Olimpik Ndėrkombėtar, andaj medaljet e fituara nė tė kanė vlerė shumėfish mė tė madhe se ato qė fitohen nė kampionatet qė i organizojnė federatat e shumta ndėrkombėtare tė karatesė. Shi pėr kėtė arsye edhe klubi i karatesė ?Iliria? kishte vendosur qė t?i japė pėrparėsi kampionatit ballkanik ndaj kampionatit evropian tė WSKF sė, qė njėkohėsisht mbahej nė Turqi. Pėr karateistėt e rinj kosovarė motiv mobilizues paraqitte edhe fakti se Kosova, pėr shkak tė statusit akoma tė padefinuar, nuk mund tė marrė pjesė nė garat e Federatės Botėrore tė Karatesė, anėtarė tė sė cilės janė 174 shtete tė botės, andaj ky ishte njė rast i mirė qė ata ta verifikojnė cilėsinė e tyre, por edhe cilėsinė e karatesė kosovare. Duhet thėnė se nė kampionatin e sivjetshėm numrin mė tė madh tė medaljeve pėr Shqipėrinė e fituan karateistėt kosovarė. Kėshtu, nė konkurrencėn ekipore, ekipi shqiptar i juniorėve, i pėrbėrė nga Ermira Statovci, Ardiana Rexhepi, Marigona Beadini dhe Kaltrina Krasniqi, fitoi medaljen e bronztė, ndėrsa nė konkurrencėn individuale, nė kategorinė 57 kg. Tringa Qerreti, fitoi medaljen e artė dhe titullin e kampionit ballkanik nė kategori, ndėrsa medaljet e tjera i fituan juniorėt: Ardiana Rexhepi tė argjendtėn (+60 kg) dhe Marigona Beadini tė bronztėn ( 60 kg), kurse te kadetėt Jetmir Rexhepi tė bronztėn ( 60 kg), Linditrim Gashi tė bronztėn (+75 kg) dhe Esat Lika tė bronztėn ( 75 kg). Garuesit e tjerė tė pėrzgjedhjes sė Shqipėrisė, qė u stolisėn me medalje ishin edhe juniorėt: Florent Gashi ( 55 kg), qė fitoi medaljen e argjendtė, Ledion Hysa tė argjendtėn ( 60 kg), Eklit Arapi tė bronztėn ( 60 kg) dhe Taulant Kumbulla tė argjendtėn ( 65 kg).
S'do mend se ky suskes i pėrzgjedhjes shqiptare, sikundėr edhe organizimi nė nivel tė lartė i kampionatit tė dhjetė ballkanik, kanė hapur shteg qė Shqipėrisė edhe nė tė ardhmen t?i besohet organizimi i garave ndėrkombėtare tė karatesė, qė do tė ishte mirėnjohje mė e madhe pėr organizimin e sivjetshėm tė kampionatit ballkanik.

What a game betwen Mabetex and Prishtina for the Supercup. ITs 4th quarter and Prishtina leadin by 10. It wasnt expected as Mabetex has bought top players from the league... but Prishtina's latest signin Milan Paresanovic looks good, a big center, alredy scored 13 pts and has allowed Mabetex's Tarvis Williams score only 2 pts so far.
Moris Haxhia is one of the best in Mabetex so far.

Naum when we know something that is clear, why do you have to try and make fun of it ? Albanian Basket Federation started to 'think' bout basket last year, when they invited 3 kosovar albanians to join the, despite that they lost all 6 qualifin matches, that shows that they didnt care much about basketball.

OK

They are more concerned about football, while in Kosova its diffrent, people are mad about basketball. Kosova beat Romania and Egypt in Alexandria Cup, and belive it or not it was first match that they play against someone (without includin previus friendly against Albania). Besides that teams in Kosova are even better, a lot of money is invested there, 2 of your NT players were here last season (Blazhevski and Cekovski).
Not more than 10 days ago Prishtina played your Vardar, and result was 93:69m for Prishtina. So comparing to our 0 basketball before 2000 and now... its a big diffrence, dont you think ?!

interesting post Tifo!

Kosova basketball is still lightyears behind Macedonian basketball NT and clubbs are something and NT are something else.. we lose our players to other nations cuz is not much money in macedonian clubb teams but the NT now days are much better then the NT who playd in EC some years ago and only FIba did prevent us to play in Serbia this year but now they can not prevent us anymore.....

well I don't think your Nt can touch our for years to come since we have a good generation now with europ stars like Stefanov,Ilievski,Kurtovic,Antic,Samardzitski,Stac k,Bocevski,Gecevski and so on....

we have beat bulgaria 3 times this year allready so take it calm tifo but interesting that you people on your nation like basketball cuz i did not know it....

what about handball and vollyball? do they like this sports over ther? in macedonia vollyball, handball and basketball are as bigg as soccer if not bigger sports

You see... first thing you do is to compare Kosova's team...vs. Macedonia :wth:

How can you compare it just like that, in fact we both know your team is far better for several reasons, you got players playin in some top leagues while we are working with young generations so we would have a better team in future. Dont forget that we were isolated here, players didnt have were to play, expet in their school yards, how we'r suppose to have a good team now huh ?!
STILL ... comparing what we achived from 2000 is enough ! At the time that your teams are loosing players to other foreign teams, we manage to bring here NBA players, such as Mario Benet, Acie Earl, Fred Grim, than a lot other known players Pejcinovic, Maric, Keny Walker etc etc, had coaches like Giusepe Gierga, Ali Burgul...This shows how pationate we are bought basketball.
So whenever our teams will show up in euro competitions, there is a hope they can do good.
Meanwhile from this season there are new regulations, like every team need at least 2 players that are under 18, we are giving the chance to these new players, for the future... bcz the present ones went through difficult times.

Now, bout other sports... Handball is popular also, Kosova Handball Federation is accepted in European Handball Federation, and this was first time our teams played in Euro Competition, where our champion Besa was eliminated from Netherland's champion, loosing 2 games very close. And all players were albanians exept some guy Trajkovski which I suppose is macedonian. We also played friendly with Egypt and Turkie, lost but not with some huge results.

The future looks good :shades:

Hajde ketu flasim per Seferin...

Nė paraduel tė Luan Krasniqit paraqitet edhe njė shqiptar, Nuri Seferi 28-09-2005

Ringu i Hamburgut, dueli i shqiptarėve

Edhe muzikė shqiptare nė natėn e dueleve mė 28 shtator nė Hamburg, qė zhvillohet pėr nder tė datėlindjes sė legjendės sė boksit gjerman, Maks Shmeling. Nuri Seferi, i njohur me nofkėn "Tajsoni shqiptar", do tė pėrballet me ukrainasin Taras Bidenko, pėr titullin ndėrkombėtar tė Gjermanisė nė boksin profesionist. Ai do tė futet nė ring me muzikėn shqipe nė sfond. Trajneri i Seferit, José Zingga do tė shprehej: "Ai duhet tė boksojė 10 raunde, ndonėse ka fuqi edhe pėr 12. Ai bokson sikur njė luftėtar." "Jam i gatshėm pėr duel. Bidenkoja ėshtė kundėrshtar i fuqishėm, por unė godas mė mirė. Dua ta fitoj kėtė duel. Jam i bindur se shumė shqiptarė do ta pėrkrahin Luan Krasniqin dhe mua nė palestėr. Ndiej fuqinė qė ata do tė ma japin,"- tha Nuri Seferi. Organizatori Universum Box?Promotion ka lajmėruar se Nuri Seferi do tė paraqitet i fundit nė ring, para duelit kryesor ndėrmjet Lamon Brewter-it dhe Luan Krasniqit. "I uroj Luan Krasniqit fat nė kėtė duel. Jam i bindur se ai do tė bėhet kampion i botės,"- tha Seferi, me prejardhje nga Gostivari.
Ky ėshtė dueli im i dytė nė kategorinė e rėndė. Kam pasur njė lėndim nė dorėn e djathtė, qė nuk po mė lė rehat shumė, por dhembjen do ta tejkaloj me njė fitore,"- tha Seferi i njohur me nofkėn "Tajsoni shqiptar".

Ringu, i njėjtė pėr tė dy
"Njė ring boksi ėshtė i njėjtė, pa marrė parasysh se ku ngrihet,- tha Brewster nė pyetjen nėse pėr Krasniqin ėshtė pėrparėsi terreni. - E kam pranuar sfidėn e Krasniqit vullnetarisht. Tė mėrkurėn fiton ai qė ka mė shumė vullnet. Pėr mua nuk ėshtė shumė i rėndėsishėm brezi. Ky duel ka tė bėjė me standardin e jetės sime dhe tė familjes."

Trajnerėt sfidojnė njėri-tjetrin
Pas boksierėve qėndrojnė edhe trajnerėt e tyre. Torsten Schmitz i Luanit dhe Jesse Reid i Brewster-it. "Kjo ėshtė sfida mė e madhe e Luanit. Shpresoj qė shikuesit tė shohin boks, e jo tė dėshpėrohen nėse meēi kryhet nė raundet e para,"- tha trajneri gjerman Schmitz. "Nė Hamburg, Brewster do t'u bėjė me dije tė gjithėve ēfarė luftėtari ėshtė. Egėrsia e Lamonit do tė zgjohet dhe do t'i tregojė cilėsitė e boksierit. Ai ėshtė kampioni i vėrtetė,"- tha Reidi.

My hometown team KB Vllaznimi has signed two players and they will have rights to play in upcoming match against KB Peja.
Bosnian Xhenan Shuta (guard/forward), Dejvis Begaj (forward) have both signed.
Shuta has played in Kosova two years ago when he was at Drita and than I supose he went to a norwegian team, while Dejvis Begaj is part of Albanian National Team and he was playing for Partizani Tirana, he was MVP of first round when he scored 35 points.
Now a Center is what we are missing. Filipi Kralevski or bosnian Alen Jazvin are two options, seems that Jazvin is closer.
Lineup against Peja will probably be:
PG Besfort Thaqi / Endrit Duraku
SG Xhenan Shuta / Valon Tanushi / Driton Rraci
SF Blerim Kadrija / Petrit Bokshi
PF Dejvis Begaj / Korab Ferizi
C Alen Jazvin ?! / Pal Syla

Vllaznimi played hard tonight...even though Dejvis Begaj didnt come we won, the two newcomers Djenan and Jazvin, both scored over 20 pts, and our center Sylaj scored other 14 and we had support from the fans, that helped a lot.
So from total outsider this year, we scored 2 out of 3. If we had these guys in first round, now we would have 3 wins

Hmmm, so they go by 2 points per victory in Basketball there? I'm so used with percentage winning here that it looks weird to me. But maybe it's not bad since that's what people are used to and the season is probably much shorter with less games.
