Tough to call, Spain will probably win the group...Croatia should finish second but I have little confidence in the manager, poor defense and the opening match against Turkey will be vital. Czechs/Turkey met in qualifying and each team won the away fixture, Turkey is something in better form but the Czechs always seem to over perform in these tournaments so went with them finishing 3rd. With Turkey you don't know what to expect, they can bomb out or fight with Spain for first

Im surprised how much love Croatia gets in the poll.

Croatia last 3 tournaments:

2014 WC - didnt advance from group
2012 Euro - didnt advance from group
2010 WC - didnt even qualify

Meanwhile Turkey will have the spirit of Terim resurrected. Spain will be having a nice balanced team this time (compared to wc) with experience and youth.

On paper Czech Republic is the weakest team. They have loads of home based players in this team. But even last euro they didnt exactly have amazing team and made the QFs.

I wouldnt be surprised if Croatia fks up again. But the 3rd place is the saving grace here so we shall see.

When you look at the players that Croatia have, you think they should be performing a lot better than they have. Similar to Belgium in that they have some very good players but not so great of a team. I think that is why Croatia gets a lot of love.

I would like Croatia chances a lot more if Bilic were the coach. Euro 2012 they were unlucky not to beat Spain and knock them out. They have some top class players but no team and a shaky defense. They will still probably advance to the next round but probably not further.

Volim te Hrvatskooooooooooo..............

turkey's too unpredictable, the players' performances fluctuate too much depending on what their coffee-reading fortune tellers told them the day before. the rest are more disciplined and consistent.

Arsene Wenger thinks that two of the tournaments dark horse candidates can be found from this group. Also mentioned team Czech Republic.

Quote:
“The surprise package could be Turkey, who only just qualified, but in the end could have an impact. Then you have Slovakia and the Czech Republic, who could be a surprise too, you never know.

“But one team, above all - who nobody speaks about - who has the internal quality to be a major favourite, is Croatia. When you look at the players they have - Kovacic, Rakitic, Modric, Lovren, Vrsaljko, Srna, and I forget so many - but you think 'oh'.

“When you look at the names you think there is something there, so why should they not be favourite? For me, they could be the surprise package.”

Conveniently you left out 2008 quarter finals-seconds away from historic semi final success, we beat Germany (eventual finalist) in the group stage game and topped the group with 3 wins!

When you look at Croatia you never really know what sort of performance you get, we had Italy by the balls at the San Siro in 2014 before the flares incident yet the struggled against Norway or Scotland!

Anyway, maybe its about time for Croatia to actually get their shit together come tournament time! We NOW have a squad mixed with maturity, experience , youth (Pjaca/Coric/Rog/Vrsaljko )and winning mentality (Modric/Rakitic/Mandzukic/Perisic/Brozovic/Kovacic).

I think Croatia's individual class in mid-field/attack is what separates us from Turkey and Czech this time round as ALL our PLAYER play KEY ROLES for their respective clubs-by that I mainly mean Modric, Rakitic, Perisic and Brozovic, these players have made significant strides forward compared to the last Euro's. Ultimately its really about how we will start the first match and if we can gain the required momentum to get through this tough group- actually our aim should be to top the group because otherwise we are likely to face a really tough opponent in the next round !

That's because people tend to think football is played on paper.
