Today the UEFA Cup starts and we have four German teams are fighting to get into the second round, the group phase of that Cup. Here are the fixtures:

Hertha BSC - Odense, 17:00
FC Schalke - Nancy, 19:00
Sion - Leverkusen, 20:30
Frankfurt - Bröndby, 20:45

I can't stand Eintracht Frankfurt, so I would love to see them getting a good trashing. ;) But considering the UEFA- 5 - year coefficient nearly all German teams should do well.

The Schalke - Nancy game should be a good one, together with the Frankfurt fixture. Both german teams have good oponents so I don't think that these games will be boring.

Well regarding who i like or who i hate..i hope of them get through!

I think we will see another horrible season for German clubs in Europe. Bremen and Hamburg will be knocked out of Europe from the group stage and only Schalke and Leverkusen from the above teams will do well in Europe but they will not go far.

I think Bremen won't reach the 1st or the 2nd place in their group, but they have a good chance to get the 3rd spot and play on in the UEFA Cup. And in that tournament they might get far...

Nevertheless I hope they manage a wonder an reach the second spot.

Berlin-Odense 2-2, good game, but Hertha was unlucky after the lead. At the end it's a fair draw, because Odense could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up after 20 minutes.

Schalke gets a late goal against Nancy after a rather boring game.

And what I wanted to add...

Hey Berlin, when there are no spectators in the stadium, the team only plays on 50% of their ability and Hoeneß moans about the unattractiveness of the UEFA Cup, why do you take part? Why don´t you give that UEFA Cup spot to a team that wants to play that cup?

Now there´s West Ham - Palermo on Eurosport.... now that´s a crowd..

From the 4 teams that played today, only Hertha are in trouble!
Schalke and Leverkusen have a small advantage but it wont be easy.
Frankfurt r surely through.

I think HSV will make it to the 2nd spot! Dont ask me how,but they will do it.
Bremen isnt out yet,but if they are they will be 3rd for sure and will go on and win the UEFA cup unless they underestimate their opponents!

Yeah, why not. Moscow and Porto are not way better than Hamburg. I also rate HSV better than Moscow, so they have a good chance of getting that 2nd spot.

Agree, only 12800 in a stadium with a capacity of abou 70000.
That´s a shame.
The other German stadiums were all full,
i don´t know, why only so few people wanted to watch this match.

Agree with X-Terminator, it´s very important, that all UEFA-cup
teams reach the group stage.
In CL i would be happy, if all teams stay in Europe competitions
over the winter, means at least rank 3 for Hamburg and us
and 1/8 finals for Bayern.

Oh, 1-0 for Odense against Berlin. Hertha needs 2 goals now, with a defeat or a dra they're already out of the UEFA Cup.

#19 ·
Yes, Hertha played really bad, no ideas, no real power. I don't know what Falko Götz saw, but he said in an interview that they played good until the goal. I don't know...

Schalke is already 0-2 down after 25 minutes. At the moment they're also out.

Frankfurt-Bröndby 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Schalke played horrible in first half,
they slept the whole first half.
At the end of 2nd half they start making some pressure,
but it was definite not enough to go through.

Hertha played horrible as already said.
They had no real ideas in midfield without the injured Bastürk,
Boateng would have been a possible playmaker,
but Goetz put him at the right wing, where he was totally useless.
Odense played sh*t football, too, but they were solid.
The goal was unlucky, distance shot, that nearly every district
league keeper can catch, but the Hertha keeper boxed it in front of
the feet of a Odense player.

Frankfurt made a good match, a win was possible
(would have been great for 5 years ranking),
but 6-2 on aggreagate is very confortable.
Positive surprise, because they weren´t favorite
against Brondby.

Leverkusen played overall a good match, in the first half they had
no real plan, but created some chances, who they all missed.
In second half they played well, at the 1-1 i thought "what a shock",
but the team showed moral and scored a minute later.
A well deserved 3-1, but Sion showed, that Switch football is good.
